Well it's sort of kind of creative... but hella' boring and I imagine it's going to be pretty darn bad in most cases. Rakdos gets the short end of the stick again.
And here's hoping they ease up on the +1/+1 counter type mechanics.
Oh wow, I like how the preorder sites I've been eyeballing have shot the asking price up at least $10 in most places. Knew I should have reserved it last week when the local shop was asking for $17.
Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until it hits Walmart or Target.
@snow: My suggestions are:
Grim backwoods is horrible.
Monodren shaman falls flat, your better off with 2 more gangs (or 1 gang and 1 silverheart).
As much as I want it to work, kruin outlaw rarely does. Gatstaf Shepherd works better (flipped a 3/3 with intimidate along with a immerwolf is BEAST).
Drop the black cards. They add nothing. Go with 4 pillar of flame over duress, 1 more incinerate, and 2 slagstorms if you can.
Thanks for the tips and congratulations!
Shame about the Mondronen Shaman, she seemed like she might have been fun to use in a more 'control-y' deck, but at 4 mana, there are just better and more aggressive choices the deck needs and I was always kind of iffy on her usefulness anyway. This said, I almost want to just redo the whole damn thing and pop in Reckless Waif's and Wolfbitten Captive's, but I've rarely seen aggressive Werewolf decks like that work that well. Also thought about adding in Gitaxian Probe's, but then I'd have to take more important elements out for basic card draw.
Too many damn choices and too many things I want to do... This is my eternal struggle whenever I come back to Werewolves.
Part of me just wants to go casual with it, but then why would I be playing R/G Werewolves when R/G just has a ton of other, better stuff I could be using?
Anyway, here's an updated list for my budget T2 Werewolf deck:
It's been a while since I've whipped up a deck, but here's my budget T2 Werewolf deck thus far.
Kind of went for a control vibe of sorts to keep help keep the pressure on as I work to force a flip. I fully admit that this deck is a little all over the place in its current state and any and all suggestions for improvement (while keeping in mind that this is a budget deck) are greatly appreciated.
Thinking of trying Werewolves again, but rolling R/G with a splash of black for Duress, Tragic Slip, and maybe Smallpox. Basically adding a few more control elements to the deck to (hopefully) stand a better chance against more aggressive decks. Also since I don't have as much money to throw at this as I used to.
Initial thoughts?
(deck list inbound either tonight or tomorrow)
- Jace gets wind of this and joins up with Niv to construct a transportation device
and they begin trafficking Zendikar's survivors to Ravnica
- Enter Gatecrash
- The Eldrazi follow the vessel's "mana trail" (that thing all walkers leave behind
during planar travel), which leads them to Ravnica
That's why you've got to jump to a few dead planes first.
This all sounds feasible, however haven't they said that the Eldrazi won't be seen again for a while? That portal technology is pretty much New Phyrexia's wet dream considering they have yet to assimilate a Planeswalker and are currently trying to reverse engineer the Soul Nets.
It depends on what the pre-release cards are (I thirst for all 5), but for this set the only builds that interest me are Golgari and Izzet, which seem like the two most popular guilds in the set as is.
I hope it's not true, but the statements of the Yeva's Forcemage elf from M13 is directly reminiscent of Nissa's beliefs.
“Nature can’t be stopped. It rips and tears at Ravnica’s tallest buildings to claim its place in the sun.”
We have a slight elf theme showing in M13. I really really hope she doesn't come back, but maybe Nissa will be jumping into the fray with RtR. You look at their art styles on the Yeva cards, and you can't help but worry that Nissa Revane is coming back.
I'd love seeing Elf Hitler come back if only to see her curb stomped
Kind of really wish Rummaging Goblin was RR instead of 2R.
I also like how 7 card mill is now a 'common' rarity ordeal. Almost feel bad about grabbing those Glimpse the Unthinkable's a few years ago for my casual mill deck.
It's genius until the Phyrexians find a way to bend them to their will. And they WILL find a way. If they can find a way to do planar leaps, you can bet they'll figure out what makes the Eldrazi tick. It's just a matter of time, and it's what Phyrexians do.
And here's hoping they ease up on the +1/+1 counter type mechanics.

Oh Braids-tan m-my MBC is moving on its own!

Don't get my hopes up at the thought of MBC or Suicide Black becoming a T2 worthy archetype. My heart can't take the disappointment.
