So I decided to price out my Norin deck, just to see what MTGO prices were like, and I can get a shell of the deck down to about $50, which is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised to see Top and Gauntlet of might combined are under 6 bucks! I think I will finish a list tonight and post it for suggestions before I pull the trigger and buy the cards.

Well, I love the utility of the Bant ETB list I run, though it would lose a lot of its power on a budget. I recently built a Norin deck, and I think I could have a lot of fun with a Norin or Purph build. I prefer control, or decks with a lot of card interactions. ATM I am readying LimDul945's $50 Hanna list, which seems like it could be fun. I am also unsure of what the meta is like on MTGO.

    Hey there!

So I recently decided I am going to try my hand at MTGO EDH, as my play group meets quite infrequently. I have two problems; the first is that I want to start with a lower budget and eventually add to my deck(s), and the second is that I have weaved in and out of MTG my whole life so there are vast amounts of cards that I do not know exist. So when I try to get an idea of what to run that can be cheap and still slightly competitive, I have no clue what to add in place of certain staple money cards when looking for ideas for decks.

    So I have two questions;

First, how much of a difference is there in card prices from paper to MTGO? For example, would a $50 MTGO budget equate to $150ish in paper cards? Are the staples cheaper?
Second, if you have any decks in mind that you think I may want to look at, could you link them to me? I have done a fair bit of reading, saw the Alara Dreamcrusher, I know about Ashling and her mountains, etc. I would just love some input and advice before I go through buying 100 cards and not liking way the deck plays.

    Thanks!

Jund? Don't make me laugh - that's a great match-up for me even before I sideboard in the "best" Leyline to shut down Blightning completely (white) - a lucky Blightning can be rough though, if they hit me before I've got my hand setup for it however. But that's an infrequent circumstance.

So now your mystery pet deck not only beats U/W control and Titan Ramp variations, but also Jund? That is just outstanding sir.

Sorry if I'm not entirely down with your variant of lingo with your 1 year history here, while I've been here since the dawn of the game. (My first 10 packs or so were Alpha - before I came back to buy more though Beta had replaced the Alpha however)

So you judge him by his join date, and then play the "I've played longer" card? I would like to point out that you are telling us you have played the game far longer than your own join date would suggest. Makes you seem foolish to make assumptions on his own MTG "career" based on his joined date. For what it is worth, even though my own join date would lead you to believe I just recently started playing this game, I have been playing off and on since revised, and I understand the proper "variant of lingo".

    Quote from Vaclav
And when I was active in the local area with my constructed rating a consistent 1800+ (with all self-constructed decks at that) - I certainly don't have any finger on the pulse of the game. Admittedly I've been away from constructed a long, long while because I hated constructed online and MTGO limited is just too damn fun, plus my health making running all over creation to do live events impractical - but already with the limited amount of constructed events I've been doing since M11 going online I've shockingly regularly been gaining 20-30+ constructed rating per event to the point where I went from my 1608 pre-M11 (although admittedly with a total of 6 constructed events since 3.0 went up) to my current of 1723 in four 64+ man min events [didn't bother to check totals that showed] in just over a week.

Oh wow, you play the Rating card and the Health card at the same time! Bravo. Btw, when people throw thier poor health into discussions as excuses when they really do not pertain to the discussion at hand, it is an attempt at making people feel remorse for their condition and feel compelled to agree with them. No one asked about your physical well being, and it has nothing to do with fact that no one here thinks your amazing homebrew is worth anything.

    Quote from Vaclav
(And of course hilariously, after trying to "diss" my evaluation skills or whatever the lingo is these days - you repeat my evaluations the two recommendations that you have familiarity with. Irony?)

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean, but I am sure it is more nonsense.

Instead of naming a card that brings Titan ramp decks almost to a halt, I will play the Ego game.

I hate breadcrumbs, so instead please follow my trail of Swedish Fish and enjoy my anagram!

I haven't seen any RGW builds listed for any events, but I threw one together Saturday to play at a Sunday event. Played 4 rounds, went 3-1. Here was my build:

    Round 1 - U/W Sun Titan control.
Game 1 - She had no Idea what I was playing, Tapped out for Jace and a Wall of Omens, I Forced with a Ravine and mana to activate it left on board.
Game 2 - Thought Hemorrhaged Sun Titan, Autumn's Veil protected my Force, and a KotR ended up getting there.

    1-0

Round 2 - Bant featuring Rafiq, etc.
Game 1 - Cobra swinging for 8 damage turn 3, Rafiq swinging 10 turn 4. GG.
Game 2 - He kept a slow hand, which let me Force turn 6 after he built a bit of board presence.
Game 3 - Same type of game as game 1. This deck seems to be a turn too fast for me, as I always lost the turn before I was going to drop Force and stabilize. I am thinking in the future I would run condemns, or maybe PtE in the side for him.

    1-1

    Round 3 - U/W Control
Game 1 - Every Titan or KotR I played was pathed or Oringed. Eventually had 15 or so lands out. Kept pressure on with Ravines and Wildwoods that were eventually Sead or Edged. I won by casting Destructive Force to bait out a counter and then Earthquaking for lethal.
Game 2 - This one was super close, I got an early Force off, was in a good position, and he topdecked 2 lands and had a chalice on board for 2. Eventually I was looking at a Baneslayer, which swung, and then he dropped another. I had enough for lethal on the board through ravines, a KotR, and a freshly casted Titan if he swung, so he kept them to block. Topdecked Banefire for the win.

    2-1

    Round 4 - RG Fling (?)
Game 1 - This game annoyed me a little. Turn 4 he casted some jank worm that reshuffles into his library at the end of the turn he cast it. He bolted my Garruk Token, and swung. I swear he said at Garruk, so I put Garruk in the GY. My next turn I cast another, and then on his next turn he swings at me and tells me it is lethal. I add up the damage I think he has done, and it's not. That is when he says he said at me, not Garruk. He said he wasn't paying attention when I put him in the GY. Whatever, I wasn't going to bother fighting about it because it was 11:30 and I was tired and wanted to go to sleep.
Game 2 - He threw out the expedition that pops a 7/1 elemental into play. Gideon gets to 12 before he activates it. He has to attack through a baloth, fling, and bolt gideon. Works for me. Won by Ravine beats and banefire.
Game 3 - Garruk - Titan - Dforce - Elspeth. The deck couldn't have run any smoother.

    3-1 overall for 2nd place.

My thoughts - I had put in Earthquake to help with early aggro, and mana dorks. I found myself siding it out for Banefire on many matches, and most of the time when I pulled it I could have banefired for lethal, but couldn't EQ because I would die as well. I may just put Banefire main. Also, this deck struggles with fast aggro, I may have to put condemns or PtE in the side, or maybe try to find room main deck for them. Control was not nearly as hard a matchup as I thought it would be. I was thinking of testing out Ajani V, so I may playtest that as well. Originally I had Kahlni Heart Expedition in place of the Explores, but I think I prefer Explore. It is a better topdeck and helps with lands that CITP. I am also toying with the idea of adding 2 Islands and swapping the Stirring wildwoods for Collonades and adding Jaces, but I think that may not be a good idea.

Overall I had a blast playing this deck.

I give up trying to explain my deck to you guys,I've explained what my deck does pretty much every game, but apparently nobody reads my posts or something so I'm done,if you want to play 2 or 3 or 5 color eldrazi go for it,but telling me my deck wont work because I'm playing mono green is complete crap.

Stop being childish. You said yourself that you don't play against decks that can win early. That is this decks biggest weakness. The splashes help considerably.

Just because you think your deck is awesome doesn't mean we haven't already playtested mono green, and didn't like it.

However, if you would like like to "give up explaining your deck", please do. Then we won't have to read about you complaining that we are ignoring your untested deck.

Try playing against RDW, Bant, Dredgevine, any of the decks that hit hard, early. You will see the weakness that we all see. You can be stubborn and stay mono green, but we are going to further develop our decks to handle a wider variety of threats.

I think the two of Emrakul is mainly for increased chances of catching him off a trap.

no good list would play Garruk Wildspeaker, he is not of any use for this deck.
if you use his +1 ability you need a 2 mana play to make him useful, which wont be the case as you used it before allready
to make 3/3 beast for 4 mana is even worse

How is untapping 2 lands or making 3/3 beasts when your opponent has no board developed after a DF not of any use?

He means you have no way of tutoring or searching for him, so the chances of drawing him are low.

Exactly. If you are winning game after game on the backs of your first eldrazi, you are probably not playing against competitive decks.

It gets a lot harder when they save wrath effects for titans, PtE for Eldrazi, and blow up your eye with tectonic.
