I would have gone Blue/White and flown over. There's not much disruption here. The advantage would be to muck up the ground with utility bodies and fly over with Angels and Spirits. Flying is good.
Creative Writing – I don't understand the link between the flavor text and the card. I even looked at the render to see if I missed something obvious, but no. I don't see what is exaggerated.
Hyperbolic chamber is a common misnomer of hyperbaric chamber, a tank that encapsulates a resting body and infuses oxygen into the surrounding area. The term often refers to a sensory deprivation tank too. Hyperbolic is the adjective form of hyperbole, the use of great exaggeration. It was punny.
I'm just glad I squeaked through to round 2. I will put more thought into the creative process next round.
As an old, old player, these changes really suck. Not having the regional events was such a blow. I miss being able to wander in at 2pm, see familiar faces and then sign up for a Flight. Then afterwards go and draft a couple times, picking up chase rares and still putting together a beat down deck, because most people aren't conditioned to pick the best stuff yet.
From the stand point of new players tho, this is far less intimidating. Being able to come in and get a card pool, not having to make the mistake of passing a Snapcaster Mage because they don't follow the hype. Not to mention, the shops don't have to find table space for 8 people to pass packs around for 15 minutes in the middle of bigger tournament.
It makes sense, even if it sucks. That being said, I haven't bought a pack of cards since Zendikar.
I don't see why this couldn't work. Could you tell me how broken this card is?
I think it's pretty balanced. At a Mythic level rarity, turn 1, it is a hasty Llanowar Elf that cannot attack. It can gain you card advantage, but only if there is an Elf in your graveyard. Then if you can get the Loyalty to 10, she goes postal and resets the board... with likely a ton of Elves in your grip to rebuild.
Boon-crested Vultures :sympg::sympb:
Creature - Bird (Rare)
Flying T: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. Boon-crested Vultures deals 1 damage to you.
1/1 Bonded by desire, the hunter and the hunted may learn to coexist.
The cool thing about Delver of Secrets is he carries a Dagger or a Cleaver really well. As a 1/1 body, he can still jet across the attack line with their Human bonuses. Even when he flips, he's still a human. With cards like Moan of the Unhallowed and Midnight Haunting in multiples, you can up your Instant/Sorcery count without cutting into your creature base, which is important. You want a lot of creatures.
That being said, you have to depend on it being a 1/1.
I kind of like how this works with Grasp of Phantoms, if they just dropped something gross that I'd rather they not recast. That might be kind of cool to run together. I don't know tho. I would pick and play Silver-Inlaid Dagger over Trepanation Blade every time. Especially on a card like Invisble Stalker.
Oh man, I can't even imagine what it would be like to read that article not knowing it was a joke. I can see how you were confused. Could you imagine if wizards went back to art like that?
I love how the similarities between Homelands are brought up. This is pretty much a mulligan on that muck of a set.
I have really large hands and have been shuffling decks up since I was 11 years old. I couldn't even tell you how to start now. Just know that with practice and time, it will become second nature. Sleeve up some jank cards and practice on those in your free time, if you're worried about doing it to money rares.
I am interested in where this goes. If it is an electronic license, it would be awesome if it was an X-Box arcade download. Allowing you to draft and play with a Cube designed by Wizards. Something to entice more regular players of the game to move onto X-Box.
Pay for my flight to Berkeley from Seattle and I will out jerk him. I will change his perception. I am a Jerk Whisperer.
Also, be sure to call him out on stuff. Just say "Dude, you're acting like a real jerk right now". Make sure you do in front of everybody tho. It's stronger when you have affirming eyes in the room. You may break the silence of others who have been annoyed by him and if you can get multiple people to speak up, he'll like rethink his position. Just never let his jerky moments slide under the radar.
If you want something to change it up a bit, try carbonated water. I drink it plain, but you can get it with a hint of lemon or lime. Perrier makes a good bottle. Plus it's a glass bottle, so you can walk down the street with it and chuck it at the side of a building when you're finished with it. TOTAL EXPLOSION!
And the point im making is all of these things ARE legal and are alot less fun then a sol ring. So if were gonna ban ring there are some other things we gotta look at first.......just my two cents
This is the real point behind it. Sol ring is just a tool to get there. It never actually gets you there. All of those degenerate combos that syphon out the interactive nature of MTG are the turds that ruin my EDH experience.
Banning Sol Ring is about as rational as banning mana screw. If I don't draw 3 lands by turn 5, I should be able to tutor out a full five lands... amirite?
Anyone watching their opponent play several dual lands, fetches and shocks can feel the jealousy of seeing 3 or 4 color generals smoothly played, consistently with minimal drawbacks.
Did I miss the introduction of 4 color generals? I think those would be sweet. While it would be nice if all decks had access to Dual Lands and the fetches, it's not the end of the world. You could probably put one or two into your deck every paycheck even. Taking out the Vivid lands or the basics you were forced to deal with. Spending $40 is a lot different then spending $400. My first EDH deck was Doran, the Siege Tower and I put a good month or two of pimping into that stack. I got all of the dual lands after a while. It was fun collecting piece by piece, adding what I could when I could. I loved that deck. I loved it before I ever got all of the pieces and well afterwards. I ended up offing most of the money stuff for party cash. That was fun too. Now, my pile is a Sol'kanar the Swamp King stack with an absolutely janky mana base... but it gets there. It's not so tough to build a solid mana base using the fixers that Ravnica and Shards afforded us at common/uncommon.
My point is that if we truly believe politics can take care of multiplayer Sol Ring early-turn swings, the same should be true for the Mox.
It is true for the mox. Even if they have all 5 of them in their deck, politics should be able to balance the game. The money difference is a big deal tho. It's a power balance that is not accessible to most people. That's an unbalance that has nothing to do with the game play, it's simply a fact that most gamers won't ever own Power. Those that do, they have Vintage. A format that still sees some competitive play. EDH has survived this long with Sol Ring because it is a very even unbalance. The opportunity for anybody playing it is equally regular. It's the skill level and deck building that changes that. Those that seem to think Sol Ring is 'warping the format' are likely placing the blame in the wrong hands.
If Sol Ring was banned tomorrow, I would be bummed. I would get over it tho. My suggestion to those bummed about Sol Ring... get over it. It's not going anywhere, anytime soon, and I have YET to see an argument in this entire thread that supports the contrary.
To chizarlicious, the only reason I questioned your deck builds, is because I am truly curious as to your qualifications of writing this article. You want to go against the criteria set forth by the rules committee and ban a card that has been widely embraced by the EDH community. To do so, in a public forum, you need a very compelling argument. You lacked that. I think you should spend more time defining your local playgroup than a global movement. Become a community organizer and maybe if your playgroup dedicates some time to your cause, you can start the MTG Tea Party and get the change you believe you need.

No? Well, they have plastic bottles too.
