this card is not for Standard. its for kitchen table casual. it might be playable in a deck that used Worship. there's no way this is going to work in any reasonable Standard metagame. you don't even have Worship, let alone anything else that could come close to making Near Death Experience any good.
I love posts like this. Telling players a card can't be played.
Ad Nauseam seems to be the easiest way to make it go off. Simple B/W. 2 card combo. Easy.
Since the prices in the city I live in is all shades of f_ _ _ ed up (hello 20-25 lotus cobras, 25-30 fetchlands, 90 Jace 2.0) I buy all my cards on ebay and wait the 2-3 weeks for them to show.
I'm putting together a RDW deck due to it's accesability, cost effectiveness, and high aggro (take that Jace and your 300+ for a set!).
Though I'm seeing many a decklist without good ol' Ball Lightning. Before I go out and grab 4 originals of them, is there a particular reason people aren't a fan of these? Shouldn't this be a no brainer, along the lines of Goblin Guide going in the deck?
"How do you feel mythic rares have impacted Magic?"
Negatively. Because a card has an Orange Emblem, it's automatically double (or more) what it would be normally. Jace is way out of control. Vengevine for $25.00 each?
The Standard game is at the point where if you don't have gobs of money to blow on it, you're not going to be competitive, or even play well at your local FNM. Hope they put the ax to Mythics. And I know they won't as it makes retailers, and thereby wizards, alot more money.
1. Can't discuss M11 reprints on the standard boards. Have to go to the Rumor Mill forum.
2. You've covered the big ones there. Beyond that it's what offshoot common/uncommon ones you'd like to appear.
3. Sweepers and locks (i.e. Iona, lots of sacrificing).
4. Where's your Goblin Chieftain?
Goblins are alot like Merfolk. You'd think it'd be a good tribe, but it's pretty god awful.
I never once had mana problems, and the reason was that I had 20ish land that could support both types on the drop.
Since that's not the case in current standard, I'd advise Child of Night, and something other than White Knight for white. If you have a Demonic Appetite in your hand, and two White Knights you're going to be in some hurting shape.
The mechanic of Planeswalkers are fine. The price is pretty rough though. A full set of Jace creeping up to 400? Yeah, that's fantastic. In all my years of Standard (Missed out on a few blocks), it's never been this expensive to play.
Will be pleased when the price of cards come down from the point that a set of 4 cards is just shy of a Mox.
Let's worry about rotation in 5 months when it is relevant.
Ball Lightning? Want to go get a set of them from The Dark.
Kargan Dragonlord. Keeps creatures in your RDW deck safe.
Halp.
Thoughts?

Should I manage to trade for 1+ then yay, but he's too expensive to buy, and I've way more important cards to use that kind of money towards.
Mark my words, get your playsets now while he's (relatively) cheap.
For accessories, buying in town is decent.

If you're on a budget and don't have 8 fetches, go with Hellspark but keep a burn handy for possible walls.
