FPS are super easy to make from a mechanical perspective and creating a shooter that's at least as good as Halo balance wise is very, very easy. I'm not going to be so presumptious as to claim that the FPS, as a genre, is finished, but it's definitely matured and reached a very strong plateau of average quality before other genres.
Making a decent RTS, platformer, or RPG takes a heck of a lot more work since you need to create the mechanics of the game world from scratch, while shooters solve that problem for you by having a well developed combat system that also fixes any camera issues.
There have been good shooters that have come out for consoles - less than for the PC, but again, there's always been a lot of them. Why the ones for the XBox have gotten a lot of press is, unfortunately, much easier to explain: without FPS, the XBox's game library is mediocre at best. The exclusives for the system aren't enough to outweigh the exclusives for other consoles, especially since a lot of their really big titles are also available cross platform.
Agreed, and there's plenty of engines and tools to enable the creation of FPS games, or at least heavy modifications of existing FPS games. Plus because the mechanics are already made like you said, so there's no excuse to make a bad FPS unless it's a complete joke.
As far as other genres go, remakes are definitely easier to make than making an original game. With remakes, the mechanics are already there, you just need to translate them to whatever engine you're using.
Well, I've seen people brandishing their I am Green or I am Blue/White signatures, myself included, but I figured it'd be interesting to see people's rankings in all five colors.
Blue...U: 50%
Two of my favorite things are learning and preserving knowledge. Despite what I may have said and done in the past, I'm usually willing to learn and will accept constructive criticism. About 75% of the time I try learning something, I pick it up well and can call it back up if I need it.
Black..B: 20%
I'm more of this than Red , Green, or White since I'm usually not one to dominate people by force, but I'm not afraid to make any cheap or amoral moves if I really have to. I usually don't have second thoughts about forkbombing someone's computer or cheating in a game. Black also represents individuality, which is another trait I've certainly exhibited.
White..W: 15%
White is the color of rules and order. I appreciate rules and order for providing a secure environment in which I may thrive as an individual, though I may not necessarily follow them all the time.
Green..G: 10%
This is the second lowest because I do have respect for nature, and I do like the occasional walk in the woods. I also have a bit of a way with animals.
Red....R: 5%
Once in a blue moon, I'll lose my temper, so I do know I have a little red in me. The temper issues run in my family, but I've gotten very good at controlling my emotions, even if they break out once in a while.
Well, post what color percentages best fit you using my system for doing it, and before you make any attacks on me, keep in mind my personality's been slowly changing since 2008.
Man, this world's becoming more like a Cyberpunk world, except the corporate media is toned down to be more "accessible" to people. Before you know it, a rogue AI will threaten to nuke the earth or something.
I can't believe these forums don't have a thread like this. Basically, post any funny cards you make, they don't have to focus on balance or anything since this is just for fun. I made this one for a thread on another forum:
If you don't get why I made this, it's because there's this guy posting as Stone Cold on said forum. He emulates Stone Cold's behavior pretty well and his posts are usually funny but sometimes end up in the wrong places, like when some guy's asking how to catch legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Diamond, he'll say something along the lines of "Pokeyman's fer kids, play a real game, like God of War".
I like the Vedalken in [if you don't know what setting they're in, you shouldn't be here], because they're a race of artificers, which pretty much means could easily win a war on principle that they can build a formidable army and repair fallen soldiers. "Yep, battle's over. Let's gather the broken drones, fix them, make more drones, and call it a day. We'll show those damn hippie elves who's boss."
Also, Vampires were good before Twilight bastardized them.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play some Castlevania.
I'm sure it was locked because discussing illegal substances is against this forum's rules, and as much as I'd hate to say it, weed falls into this site's category of illegal substances. If you wish to discuss weed, go find a forum full of stoners, such as Highdeas, but leave the drug talk off MTGS. This is my best advice for you.
Do they have that option where you can set PC buttons to the them? You know, where you can like assign the buttons on the controller to be "G" or "Enter" on the keyboard.
You may want to get a program called JoyToKey for that. Worked great before I switched to Linux (More specifically, Xubuntu, then I migrated to Ubuntu).
I personally like LogiTech for PC peripherals. I'm using the Dual Action gamepad for emulators and it works great and is very comfortable. It works especially well if you're playing an SNES or PlayStation game, though Genesis and other systems work well too. It's even in the PlayStation style, like you asked for.
The premise of the game is your generic, everyday TCG premise - kill your opponent before he kills you, but the deck building and gameplay are deep. This should be enjoyable to fans of MtG, which by default is this community.
Lava Burst would also be great in an Elfball for single targets, since damage can't be redirected or prevented (it still can be countered though).
In fact, I'm actually tempted to disassemble my Triforce decks to make an Elfball with Lava Burst and Chandra Ablaze. Green also has the card draw that'll be helpful for it.

Thought I'd bring this thread back up for this dumb little parody card.

And Doomguy rarely shows emotions in the games. Don't listen to what the Doom novels say. They aren't canonical.
I'mma go work on a five-color image now.
Wildheart Invoker is also great with Treespeaker and a bunch of other elves.
