It'll do. I absolutely need another 2-power 1-drop imitator at 500. And it can for a turn or two, and then it can extend its power to a better attacker later on. I wouldn't play it at anything less than 500, and I'll replace it with the very next Elite Vanguard clone we get.
That's close to my experiences with the card in my cube. It's playing a lot better than I expected, but it wouldn't be a difficult cut when a better aggressive white 1-drop comes along. It's a roleplayer in mid to large sized cubes and it does what it does well, but we know that its time in our cube is temporary (though it's unclear how temporary).
I didn't think of cutting Outpost for Ajani 3.0, but I think that's a great switch. When I get my Ajani, maybe that's what I'll do. I was going to cut Decree of Justice.

After having a bit of fun with Ink-Eyes I'm more open to cutting her, but I'm still indifferent to the Muse. BSZ is very well liked here, and Hatred is unique, and I'm trying to add a few more cards that aren't just more of the same. I have no particular like or dislike for Bloodgift Demon though. I'll think about it.
I actually rather like Kjeldoran Outpost, but my playgroup does not share my enthusiasm, and I'd rather cut it over other options like Glorious Anthem.
Collector's Edition Lotus, I'm still missing a few other cards besides the Library, like Moat and some P3K stuff, but I don't consider them to be cards that define a cube as powered, just really solid cards.
Has the "black as worst cube color" rhetoric really gotten this bad? With all due respect, I can get behind dramatically changing black's focus or something, but to cut it altogether? I just don't get why such a thing would be necessary. Black gets more than its share of love in my neck of the woods.
My advice would be to just build something, anything really, and draft it, it'll become clear pretty quickly what works and what doesn't. Some of my fondest cube memories are when I first built my cube from leftovers from the second time that I quit Magic; it was a mess but a lot of fun to draft. In my opinion a cube should evolve through use, so I'd say just build it and start the process.
I think that starting with a pauper cube is a fine idea. If you dig that dynamic than stick with it, if you're unsatisfied with it than add rares and/or mythics. Most of all have fun, this is one hell of an awesome format.
It did give me a few things to think about, like reevaluating a couple of my choices in my black section and being more aware of the density of Pro-black cards. However, I would have liked to have seen a much larger writeup in regards to his actual solution to the "problem" (beyond asking R&D to make better black cube cards); the way he built up the beginning of the article it felt like he was promising a big juicy steak but in the end we were delivered a barbeque chicken wing.
I did get value out of the article, but it left me less satisfied than I would have liked.
If this is the case (and I think it will be), I'm also looking forward to the "which art is best" discussions for the shocklands.

Come to think of it you're right about the RSZ/Fire Ambush swap, I'm going to change it back.
