Today our other team member had his visa denied, so we are in need of a third member.

What happens if in a GPT or PPTQ sealed, only 8 players play?
Is it:
3 rounds, top 4 draft?
3 rounds sealed single elimination?
1 round single elimination sealed, top 4 draft?
I hope either Alexander Hayne or Nakamura, I've met both and they both seemed like realy nice guys, well, Nakamura didn't speak any english, but he just kept smiling all the time...
This also got me thinking, anyone know what happened between this team (Puerto Rico) and Bolivia? One of the commentators said they had a very heated match dealing with rules and Bolivia was so ticked that they gave Canada a 2-0 win in order to hurt PRs standing in their pool.

we didn't gave Canada a 2-0, we had an intentional draw since both teams couldn't make it to the next round.
I don't know why they said that we wanted to "screw" Puerto Rico, that is not true, and I am sad we were put in a position as the "unsporting guys"
The match between us and Puerto Rico was not just a heated match, it was the most unpleasent match I've ever played, I've played in 2 pro tours, 2 worlds, the magic world cup and 4 grand prixes, people have tried to cheat on me in worlds memphis, have yelled at me and insulted for not conceding in worlds in japan, have treated me like a noob in gp sao paulo, have tried to intimidate me in gp buenos aires and even so, this was much worse for me, they yelled at one of my team members, and treated like garbage to another of my team members while playing so slow it might have been on the border of stalling, when my team member asked him politely to play faster, his opponent answered to him "I have 3 minutes to make this decision" and turn his back on him while watching my match.
I can't tell if the "strange" shuffling happened during our matches, if it did we didn't notice, but I find it funny because they made huge deal about the way one of our team members was shuffling, hehe
So, if this happened to you... you'd be totally cool about it?
I mean, you can lie and say "YEAH I WOULD I WOULDNT THINK ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE PERSON THAT DID IT EITHER CAUSE I JUST DIDNT DESERVE IT!!!"
But everyone knows you're lying.
So, in reality, this issue is basically
1) people who have never been in a position to ID in anything of relevance and HATE IT because they think its unfair
or
2) people who have been in a position to ID in a significant event and have done so because the EV is ++++++++++ and you dont want to be a douche to the rest of the community

A few weeks ago I was playing on a ptq, all the other players with my points could draw and get to the top 8, but I got paired with someone 3 points below and he wanted to play, we played, he won, neither of us got to the top 8, I didn't get angry and I didn't think anything negative about that guy, I lost, so I guess the other players deserved better, not because they had better decks or because they were better players (I'm not saying my deck or myself am better than them either) they desserved it because they gained more points in the swiss rounds, just like that, that's how the system is and I'm fine with it
later that night I found the guy on a pub and he bought me a beer =)
Those pins were ugly anyway...
stop crying so much, if you realy need a pin to show you are supposed to be good at magic, then make yourself one, or just show how good you are at the table.

its not about the power level of the cards, there will always be a few cards that will be better than others, it's about the economy, before the internet was not as big as it is today, the cards you had, you could trade or sell them to the people who were close by, and the stores sold them to their customers, now there are web sites like star city, who have customers all over the world, so, if they have 50 jaces, and there are hundres of people who want to buy them, well, they can put a ridiculous price that some of those people will pay, so then, in other parts of the world people say, no, jace is worth this much, so it says in the internet, I won't trade or sell mine for less... that's the economy for you...
mythic rares come out just as much as rares in some old edition, it's just that a rare back then was rather expensive, remember lands? wrath of god? birds of paradise? how much are they worth now? not much...
that's because by making 2 tipes of rares, some got more expensive and some got cheaper... I would like it if they went back to just having one type of rare, and I would love it if the sets were kept smaller, but the question for wizards is, with these changes, are they selling more or less boosters?
that's the important thing there, it's a company, and they are trying to make money with their work, there's nothing wrong with that, the reasons jace is so expensive is not only because he's good, it's because of the world economy and the secondary market...
yes, wizards could give a little help by reprinting expensive cards more often... personaly I think the best thing to do would be to get rid of the whole mythic plan... the rares would become a little more expensive but that's also good, when you open a booster pack and you get a good card that you don't plan to use and some guy says, hey, I'll trade it with you, then you realize it's just worth 2 dollars... it's also very sad...
