A pretty straightforward thread, and one where I'll definitely use the results for future deckbuilding. Now I know the usual response to these is "why not use both". But lets say your deck was tight on space and you had to pick one or the other: which one would you pick?
This is also based on multiplayer games not 1v1.
Imo, Puppeteer Clique seems more reliable if not only for the lower mana cost but it also prevents anyone else from using the creature you get back, although that could be seen as a negative. But what do you guys think?
What does Counterspell do to the current top deck, Melira Pod? It seems like you care more about blue control decks than you do about the current top deck.
Did you read my post? I said maybe it will, maybe it won't. I was responding to what the current topic was in the thread at the time. It was a segue into what my post was really about: how I really don't want to see the game turn into YuGiOh in terms of banlist mediation.
Maybe straight up introducing Counterspell into the format will work; maybe not. I just don't want to see modern turn into YuGiOh where almost every time a new set comes out they have to ban the current top deck. It just feels wrong and that's why I quit YuGiOh in the first place.
Because that way they don't need to ban cards as much to regulate the format; that way it can self-regulate. In legacy for example, FoW sees varying amounts of maindecked play depending on whats good in the format.
Anyone have thoughts on Scavenging Ooze? I've been thinking that we may need a piece of graveyard hate outside of Bojuka Bog, and I figured that it would be ideal to pick one that's easily tutorable, which means that Ooze and Nihil Spellbomb are two of my top options. Combining this with his upcoming reprint in M14 made me think that he could be a good card to discuss.
Also, while we're on the subject, any other M14 cards that interest people?
I run the ooze in almost every green list I can fit him in; he's just too good not to. While it's true that we also have the less mana intensive Withered Wretch in our colors, I find the upside on oozes effects far outweigh the mana requirements. But that's just my opinion.
Nothing so far in M14 that interests me, and it doesn't look like anything will since we're almost done previewing it. How about you?
Fair enough. While I can't imagine anyone running this over Reassembling Skeleton, it can't hurt to have another similar one in the format. The land must have me in the dumps tonight lol.
In general, I like lands that destroy non-basic lands. Encroaching Wastes is nice and simple, which is good. On the other hand, I feel that a activation wouldn't have been pushing it too much. It'll still be used in constructed decks.
Yeah even at 3 the land still would have been strictly worse than Dust Bowl but would be fine to print.
Oh well. At least they were honest that it was mainly intended for standard, which it will be good in.

Yeah, we basically got 3 cards today that are "fixed" versions of cards that didn't need to be fixed. Wheeee.
1. Strip Mine
2. Wasteland
3. Tectonic Edge
4. Ghost Quarter
5. Dust Bowl
6. Encroaching Wastes
Check please!
And bob is now $62 and rising. Wasn't he just $50 or so a week ago? What the hell man....
