    1) Field of Ruin vs Tectonic Edge
    2) Best 2 drop mana rock after Mind Stone and Coldsteel Heart? Currently running Sphere of the Suns which is quite mediocre.

    1) Field of Ruin > Edge
    2) Everflowing Chalice or Guardian Idol if colorless mana rocks are acceptable, Prismatic Lens if you need it to provide fixing.

    Necro time.

Many people will always hate this card and choose to exclude it based on archetype balance or pure animosity... But now that we have a second Crucible of Worlds in the form of Ramunap Excavator, is Constant Mists worth re-evaluating on power level? Gonna make room for it in my 630 unpowered cube again but I don't have a copy of Excavator yet; I need to prioritize picking one up.

Insult//Injury has been on my list to try for a while. Every time I hear someone gave it a whirl I hear good things.

I tried Insult // Injury in my 630 unpowered cube, at first as a "tier one" card in the core 450. Eventually though it slid its way down into tier 2 and then out of the cube entirely. It's a good card, but it doesn't stand up against the stronger competition. If my cube were still at 720 or bigger I think I'd definitely play Insult // Injury, but as is it just can't compete at 630 or lower.

For those running modern-face-only or other slightly-lower-powered cube formats, it's definitely fine and probably worth including.

EDIT: Pretty sure the only slot in my entire Red section where Insult // Injury could compete imo is vs. Blast from the Past. Maybe also against Jokulhaups but both those cards are fan favorites around here.

I feel like even if I were to run an Elfball subtheme, there are more important cards to include than Ezuri. As you mentioned Imperious Perfect and Elvish Archdruid are both critical to the archetype, which means he's at most the 3rd best Elf tribal 3-drop? And I'm pretty confident there are more options that aren't coming to mind.

I also ran Briarhorn for several years when first building my cube; it's certainly playable for larger or low-powered environments but it doesn't quite have enough oomph to be worth considering over "top-tier" green 4-drops. If it had Trample it might be a different story but unfortunately I think this guy is relegated to the 720+ card range or budget cubes only.

I don't think you trim fat by adding 6-drops. Wink

This is a good creature. I'm not sure what cube size would want a 2nd red 6cc creature beyond Inferno Titan AND Chandra AND both Wildfires, but at whatever size that is, this is the creature to go in there. But I don't think it's at 540 or smaller, at least not for me anyways. I'm never looking for another 6cc red card when I'm drafting cube.

I'm at 630 (unpowered and running Bosh, Iron Golem as additional red top-end) and I think this guy will start to compete for a slot around that point.

This card seems neat but I think it's ultimately gonna be hamstrung by the BBB in its hardcasting cost. Too color-restrictive for lots of the decks that would conceivably want it IMO.

I think pretty much all of this card's value is tied up in the critter discounting effect. If that's not gonna have a big impact in a given deck, I definitely like her less than Phantom Centaur (which, to be fair, is still a combat monster that I run at 630). Could see replacing my other "tier 2" green 4-drop, Woodland Wanderer with the bear though. I do think if this lives to attack once and discount once, it's fairly impressive at that point.

Seems weird they limited it to you opponents creatures, is it just so you don't have to bounce your own guys if they have nothing? A simple may could have done that and made it feel a bit cleaner.

It's a no for me since I'm not running Man-o'-War at the minute and this, for me, is worse.

The targeting restriction is 100% because this guy and Naban, Dean of Iteration would've made for a solid combo in Standard if he could bounce himself.

Cube players must be loving durdles these days, 'cause Serendib Efreet hits people hard and ends games fast. There's not a lot comparable to him for blue-based Tempo decks imo.

    Coming back to this thread...

I think it's obvious this guy is pretty powerful. Completely blanking your opponent's two strongest (non-Hexproof/Shroud) creatures is going to make him very tough to deal with. And many Cube decks are creature-light enough that they have no real hope of getting three threats on board to take Will down. So even just the +2 seems insane imo.

If this card just had an ETB that said "draw a card", would you cube it?

If that were the only ability on the card? Pretty unlikely, Wall of Blossoms is a decent card but it's already kinda fringe and +1 CMC for +1 power isn't that appealing a trade-off.

Also is a real "feel-bad" that this card can't buff herself if you have no other creatures out IMO.

Seems solid, but faces two enormous hurdles already IMO: first, competition for 6+ mana U finishers is crazy steep, and it's hard to see this replacing any of the existing candidates outright. And second, just like the 90% of the other cards revealed so far, this guy's art and flavor are snooze-tastic.

Having a stupid name, bad artwork on top of needing extra rules to make it remotely cubeable i would never consider these cards.

Hate to sound like an old grumpy Magic player... but this x1000.

Atrocious names. Deeply boring art. Barely playable mechanical effects. Yuck.

I still run Disfigure in the expanded section of my cube (i.e. the extra 180 cards that bring it from 450 to 630 for large groups or more deck diversity). It's pretty strong there and definitely earns its spot overall, but it's not quite powerful enough to contest the top 450. If you need a larger black removal suite than usual, I'd at least consider Disfigure. Fatal Push is sweet too but it feels soooooo bad when you need the Revolt and have no way to trigger it. Either way, these two are very close overall.
