You would need to ask the story gurus, but i believe that in the story, she was not a vampire, but a Planeswalker that lost her spark and was takeb in by Baron Sengir or something like that.
I have drafted Fallen Empires and Homelands (amd Chronicles) recently, and it was a blast. Sure, the poser level was low, but that just made good drafting skills all that much more important. If you get a chance, draft those three sets, its really fun (by the by, we opened two FE/HL packs simultaneously to make one 16card pack. For chronicles, we draft 4 packs).
Well, if you want to cross through Illinois, feel free to stop by Armored Gopher Games in Champaign. We have some form of draft every Friday for FNM (sometimes standard set, sometimes oddball drafts.) We're a more laid back store and would love to see you all come through. The store is linked in my sig.
At our store, we require that if you leave the store, you leave your deck with the shop owner at the front desk. This has stopped all cheaters (the suspected ones in fact have stopped playing at our store.)
When my cube is 100% real cards and has no proxies left, I'll be satisfied until the next set comes along. I once went down the Vintage collection road, and I collected it all, only to sell it to make ends meet, I'm not tryingthat again.
Malacoda, having traded with you twice, I know you are a stand up person, and this should not have happened to you. I apologize greatly that this occred, and I hope that somehow you are able to recover these cards, and hope that justice is done to the thieves that did this.
Off the bat, I would acquire Dual Lands from Revised. Those cards are always going to have value, since they cannot be reprinted, and if you later decide that you don't want to play Vintage/Legacy but instead want to play Standard, there's an entire sub-forum on this site that would love to trade you heaps of Standard for those dual lands.
Also, I know from experience that building a good Legacy collection means that you can make a good chunk of cash in a hurry if you need to. I once sold my Power 9 to put a down payment on my house, and when I lost my job, my Legacy collection kept it from going into foreclosure.
Yeah, it was a huge miss among most players, even the EDH crowd. What disappointed me the most was that there were two products aimed at the EDH crowd, this and the precon decks.
At least this year, as was said before, they're doing a set that will be enjoyed by a wider audience.
I am almost certain that we will see Command Tower in this, it's almost too obvious, it let's WotC print nice shiny Command Towers for the first time without having to put them in a different special set.
It's probably fourth edition, but we'd need to know what the cards were to be certain. All base sets were black bordered if they were the first printing in their respective language, some countries got revised, others got fourth.
I would use the Cage in constructed, as it also attacks other Graveyard/Library based strategies, like Pod and Solar Flare. In limited, I just try to have a bigger board presence and try to use my removal sparingly.
I am working on build my "all set peasant" cube, 1 creature and 1 non-creature from each set all the way back to Fallen Empires. My Cube idea is to try to include as many cards that truly capture the flavor/feel of the set they're from. If you're building around a specific block, try to get as many cards that pertain to that block's themes.
Would have put my vote in sooner, but i was at a poker tournament today. Glad to see that we're up and running!
