I actually did not, regarding the Haruspex art; reckon I should change it? Glad you like the theme, Abeya and the Proclamation though!

Here with the 1st draft of my latest set - this is a direct follow-up to the story of two sets I've previously made, "Ank-Therah" and "Sands of Death" and once again features a set of 5 story cards. The set is heavily inspired by a fantastical version of Imperial Rome and its surrounding peoples and civilisations/myths. Any and all comments and criticisms are welcome; this is merely the initial draft of the set!

Basic interim story run-down is as follows:

After the events of the "Ank-Therah" block, the Gatewatch (with Koth and Elspeth in tow) retreat to Ravnica to regroup after Elesh Norn's escape with the spirit magic of the Dua'tet. Koth is very angry that she escaped, whereas Elspeth is mostly sorrowful.

Gideon is determined they will do better next time, and works with Jace on the beginnings of a "planar shackle" that will lock beings down to a certain plane. Liliana, Nissa and Chandra question whether this is a thing that should exist, fearing misuse or it falling into wrong hands, but Jace tells them it's to make sure the Phyrexians can't do more harm when and if they next show up.

They eventually discover that a certain powerful binding magic will be needed to power it, and Jace locates a suitable plane named Mediin with powerful leylines of mana. Gideon, Chandra and Nissa are dispatched to investigate and bring back the source of that magic.

Meanwhile, an embittered Ob Nixilis traces the expedition team to Mediin, working under the shadowy orders of a new master with orders to sabotage their plan ...

Here are just the story cards isolated for ease of viewing, and the assorted tokens:

Are there any Future Shifted cards with Egyptian or North-East African theming?

Seht's Tiger, Blade of the Sixth Pride (ish), Tombstalker? (although Delve just came back), promo art Yixlid Jailer, Snake Cult Initiation (not that we'll see that), Spin into Myth (at least in name)

So not much, but a few vague things that could be seen as sort-of hints.

I'd rather see another good Mythic for Standard because some number of Mythics *will* be good for Standard, no matter what, and therefore it's better for many of them to be than we end up with another Voice of Resurgence situation. It's also somewhat disappointing to see a reprint at Mythic, since as you say Mythics tend to be cool casual cards when they aren't good for Constructed and new non-reprint cool casual cards are likely to be more interesting than this guy.

I thought we were downshifting these sort of reprint kinda-exciting Mythic cards now (Felidar Sovereign, Gaea's Revenge, etc)? It's a cool card and I don't have a copy for Commander yet, so that's something, but I don't remember this doing a thing in Standard the first time around and to see it Mythic again is a bit meh.

I suppose it can take over a board in Limited, but it's a frigging 1/1 and will die to pretty much every removal spell in the set, not to mention the fact that it takes 6 turns to get going without additional work and until that point means you've put a severely underwhelming card on the board.

So I'm trying to seed a few common archetypes in a set, and some of the cards I've landed on are a little bleedy/weird. Just wondering what people's thoughts were.

    Dunhill Hero 3W
    Creature - Human Warrior (C)
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on Dunhill Hero.
    2/2
“We fight for glory, same as them. But our honors are marked by scars.”

Typically a green effect, but pushing a RW tokens archetype.

    Crypt Magister 1B
    Creature - Vampire Wizard (C)
    Lifelink
Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
    1/1

This is for a UB "spells" archetype. Is prowess OK in black?

    Harrowing Nightmares 1B
    Sorcery (C)
Gain control of target tapped creature until end of turn. Its controller loses 2 life.
“Sweet dreams, my child.” — Reithani

This is probably the weirdest card. Pushing a RB steal-and-sacrifice deck alongside a Threaten in red at common.
