Initially I stopped playing Commander because I dismantled my decks to drum up funds for an engagement ring.

Now I can't find the motivation to get back in because I'm just tired of seeing the same cards played over and over.

Wait what is up with that bestow cost of that Eidilon?!?!? Why is it that high?

It's a bronze sable with upside. I don't see what's not to like.

I got back in to Magic and drafting around Alara Reborn. So I've been playing for 5 years or so, and I've only noticed blatant obvious cheating once, and it was recently. A player had 6 lands, and they needed 7 to go monstrous. He distracted his opponent with a question then let a land fall out of his onto the battlefield (giving him enough to go monstrous). I noticed and told him he had already played a land that turn, and he acted like he was sorry and took it back.

Then I played the same player yesterday, he was playing 3 colors and attempted to cast a creature that he did not have th proper mana for. Often times this is an honest mistake, but given what I had seen in the past I'm not sure it wasn't deliberate.

The moral of the story is, it's a good idea to keep an eye on your opponent.

Sun guide looks insane for limited.

Bestow still isn't fixed yet. Meh.

    What about Bestow needed fixing?

The biggest problem with bestow in the current meta in my opinion is that you can literally respond to a bestow cast by destroying it's target and then you get a 2 for 1.

Even when it's a flash bestow of boon satyr, boon satyr goes on the stack, he doesn't resolve instantly, and if you doom blade it's target, boon satyr never resolves at bestow cost and thus he doesn't ever enter the battlefield as an enchantment or a creature. I feel like bestow was just over-priced mana-wise, and with the control heavy meta, bestowing allows someone to use hard removal like counterspells, which are harder to get in your main deck.

This is not correct, in the example you provide the Boon Satyr would enter the battlefield as a creature.

    From the Theros FAQ:
Unlike other Aura spells, an Aura spell with bestow isn't countered if its target is illegal as it begins to resolve. Rather, the effect making it an Aura spell ends, it loses enchant creature, it returns to being an enchantment creature spell, and it resolves and enters the battlefield as an enchantment creature.

I played the same deck that won SCG Cleveland. Ended up 6-1-1 winning the tournament (22 participants).

Beat: WBR 2x, Mono Red, Rw Aggro, RWU Control, Izzet Pyromancer
    Lost to: Mono green devotion
    Draw to: Rw Aggro

Sexuality for sexuality's sake has no place in Magic IMO. Jace being straight/bi/gay has nothing to do with anything, so why even mention it. That said, it is an interesting bit of flavor text.

  • posted a message on buying a wedding ring
My fiancee works for Kay Jewelers, so I'd like to think I know a little about this stuff. I would recommend against buying from a pawn shop. You need to buy from a jeweler that will give you warranties and free cleaning/maintenance. Jewelry needs to be cleaned every 6 months or so, and needs to be repaired on occasion too. By purchasing from a more well known organization you can tack those things on, and you'll never have to pay for cleaning or repair in the future.

Since you're already engaged I'd say it is okay to take her with you to pick out the ring. When choosing a diamond you should keep in mind the "Four C's" of diamonds: Cut, Clarity, Carat and Color.

Here is a link to the Gemological Institute of America's website on the subject.

Look on Instagram and there is a video of the line for hasbro today that looked insanely long. Don't know if I could wait that long.

Many of the people in line for the Hasbro booth will buy every single exclusive, and as many of each as is allowed, just to turn around and resell it. A lot of these people have no interest in Magic, but are just looking to profit.

The wait in the long you saw is just for a ticket to come back at a specified time to purchase your items.

I guess what I'm wondering is why was he drafting in the first place? Isn't the point of drafting to play Magic?

This is the list I've been goldfishing. My original idea was to use Verdant Haven to maximize Ral's untap ability. His +1 also combos well with Tamiyo's -2 ability. The best games seem to open with turn 1 Arbor Elf, turn 2 Verdant Haven. Then on turn 3 I'll have 5 or 6 mana to play Garruk, Tamiyo or even an overloaded Mizzium Mortars.

    Thank you for the responses.

My fiancee is not in favor of the charity route, and I feel like asking for cash is tacky. I've never "asked" for anything in my life.

My fiancee wants to register but when I ask her what will be on our registry and point out that we have all the traditional items that would be on it she just replies "I don't know."

She's said she wants a new dining room table, and I agree we could use a new one. However, that is only one thing and the folks (parents/grandparents) that would get us something like that intend to contribute money towards a downpayment on a house.

My fiancee and I have set our wedding date for November, and we just recently sent out invitations. The invitations list our wedding website, and one of the sections on the website is to give details of a registry.

We're in our mid twenties so we have each had time to accumulate plenty of household items, and now that we're moving in we have duplicates of many items such as toasters, sets of towels, glassware, silverware, dishware, linens etc. And I would never be the type to register for things I consider frivolous, such as fine china.

The conundrum is that we don't really need to register for the traditional registry items. Some websites suggest registering for honeymoon stuff, but our lodging and plane tickets for the honeymoon are already paid for.

It has crossed my mind to simply not register, but I've read about other people doing that, and they ended up getting miscellaneous things that were wasteful.

Tl;dr: what to register for if we have everything?

Winner of ours was a Gruul guild pack, but he was Naya. Might have been more Boros than Gruul.

    2nd, 3rd and 4th were all Boros.

Oh my god, I LOVE Razia, Boros Archangel. I've made it pretty competitive, able to take people out in one swing.

I've made Niv-Mizzet despite his power level. I don't like super competitive decks, but Niv-Mizzet (along with Razia) is one of my favorite cards ever.
