So what's up with 20 dollar reckoners. That card is awesome but it's just a rare.

It's price is super inflated right now and I can't see it sustaining that price tag. Frustrating to say the least since I don't have any Tongue

So you run a green black deck. Then you realize you have temple gardens and avacyn's pilgrim, so you can run white too. Then you realize that unburial rites is great in the deck. And all of a sudden, you're playing reanimator.

If you're milling enough to make ghoultree good, then you're milling enough o reanimate griselbrand.

You're on to something with jarad though, i think he's great in reanimator.

Agreed, you're playing JunkRites then...so what are the finishers in this deck? Angel of Serenity, Thragtusk and Griselbrand?

Also Rest in Peace just straight up hoses this deck. What anti-Rest in Peace tech are you running? I'm thinking Golgari Charm, Naturalize, Sundering Growth and the best of the bunch IMHO, Ray of Revelation.

In future, you can check the Cockatrice website to see if the server is up or not. Right now it's down.

But while we're on the topic, does anyone know of an alternate server?

The server seems to be back up and running ok now. To answer your queston Nyktos, back in June of this year when they had all those constant problems, they set up an alternate server using these cred's:
    Host: 69.163.157.124
    Port: 4747

^^ Not sure if that is still running or not. I usually check their main site and go to the forums page to find out any info.

I am trying to connect with Cockatrice but I have this message error : SOCKET ERROR: CONNECTION REFUSED. ANyone has the same problem? Im running it in MAC. Thanks

I'm getting the same exact error message. BTW, I'm running on a Win7 PC. It's probably something wrong with their servers, which periodically go down. One of the few faults with this free software ;-)

Why does cockatrice run so slowly? Everything I do is delayed by 2 to 3 seconds and it's frustrating. I'm on a laptop, btw.

I'm getting the same problem...extreme lag. I've ran speedtests on my end and my speeds are fine (4MB/sec). Must be Cockatrice's server. I hope they can fix that soon. Playing a game is frustrating when you have to wait for so long between actions.

Crovax, I actually felt the same way so I edited the pictures to work like the one you posted. Here is the .zip file...both the ISD DFC and the DKA DFC are in here in their respective folders. Enjoy!

Just need to make sure you have the right settings enabled for the full scan pictures and you are good to go.

    Amazing ^^^
Thanks a bunch Aztinoth! That was extremely helpful and a well thought out design. +1

I run both Geth's Verdict and TtH as a 1-of's and they've both been great. I think I favor TtH simply b/c the lifegain is relevant. The opponent losing 1 life from GV is definitely less significant IMO.

Tbh if I wanted 1cmc removal Dead Weight is the way to go.

If someone's playing a "draw-go" kind of deck, the instant speed of Virulent Wound or Wring Flesh is what makes them so good. Dead Weight is an enchantment aura that doesn't hit Inkmoth Nexus and is slow. I play the Wring Flesh since it has nice synergy with Snapcaster.

Wring Flesh is also a card.

Agreed. For tonight's FNM I was able to swap out the 2x Virulent's for Wring Flesh's instead. Snapcasting back a Wring offers some pretty good combat tricks. Smile

Tonight I ended up going 3-1 losing in the finals to a mono-white Tempered Steel deck. I 2-0'd all of my matches until that last one and lost 2-1. Game 3 he has a nutty hand and is on the play. T1 he drops Signal Pest. T2 he drops Shrine of L.L. and passes. T3 he drops another Shrine of L.L. which I have a Dissipate in hand staring at me and LOL'ing. He ends up getting two SoFaF's out and by that time it's too late.

Overall this deck was fun as hell to play tonight. Nephalia Drownyard was the MVP all-star with Snapcaster Mage definitely pulling his weight.

My favorite play of the night was against a Bant Hexblade deck that had Thrun, Geist, Mirran Crusaders, Destiny's, etc. T4 or T5 he plays a Primeval Titan which I let resolve. During my next turn I cast Phantasmal Image (run 2 in the s/b) copying PrimeTime, fetching 2 Drownyards, and then proceed by Doom Blade'ing his Titan. After a few turns, I had all 3 Drownyards out and started milling him for 9 at the end of his every turn. It felt sooooo good! Grin

Jace, Memory Adept is pretty meh.

    +1 Dissipate
    +1 think twice
    +1 forbidden alchemy
    +1 Dismember
+1 Blue sun's zenith (or +3 visions of beyond not sure what I would cut for these)

    -1 jace, memory adept
    -1 geth's verdict
    -1 negate
    -2 Virulent Wound(sideboard)

Then for your sideboard you need 3-5 additional counterspells. I like a mix flashfreeze and stoic rebuttal if you don't plan on seeing the mirror. Both are pretty good against WRR. 2 extraction and spellbomb might be a few too many hate spells. I like 2-3 because that is good enough since solar flare is a pretty good matchup for us anyways.

Also I don't think you need 3 Black sun's zenith and 3 ratchet bomb in your 75. 3-4 of these is plenty enough. I like 2 BSZ main and a couple ratchet bombs sideboard.

I think Virulent Wound is a maindeck champ right now with all the x/1 creatures running around (BoP, Stromkirk, Porcelain Legionnare, R.Waif, Inkmoth Nexi). It helps keep us from getting blown out in the early game by a 1-drop dork (looking at your Stromkirk) and says no to the 10/1 Kessig-pumped Inkmoth.

Geth's Verdict is in there (along with TtHunger) b/c having a Dungrove Elder, Thrun, or Geist staring down at me is no bueno. Maybe I'm just being too paranoid but not being able to deal with those guys spells doom to me.

And you're probably right that Jace isn't all that great. I'd be better off swapping him out for Batterskull or another W.Engine.

Forgot to add 3X Solemn. I play in a heavy aggro meta, and having him hit the board helps pull me ahead while avoiding dying. I don't agree with everyone cutting him, because it's going to come back and bite them in the end.

I refuse to use Forbidden until everyone stops siding Surgical Extraction.

Are you running a more tapout version of U/B? I'd love to put Solemn Simulacrum into the deck but I can't see tapping out mid-game to get a 2/2 and a land. If I'm tapping out it's to play a win-con.

  • posted a message on So what U/B flavor are you bringing to FNM?
For the past few weeks I've been playing Solar Flare and while the deck feels strong, it lacks the consistency since the mana base is so shaky. Not to mention all the s/b hate people are devoting towards it.

For a fresh change of pace, I'd like to sleeve up a U/B control deck and take it to tonight's FNM (usually about 35-40 people). Here's my starting list; I'd love to get some feedback on what to cut, add, or just some general knowledge my fellow control friends care to share.

As you can see, I'm skimping a little on the card draw and am only running 8 counters with more of a focus on creature removal since the meta at my LGS seems to be heavy aggro. I've found that Disperse is a pretty great card and I've been very impressed by it. Bouncing a Shrine or annoying threat that leaked through my counters is worth it IMO. It's def no Into the Roil but I think its the best bounce effect card we have at our disposal. So what do you guys think?

I'm also curious to see what everybody else's take on the best version of U/B control will be. What do you expect your meta to consists of? WRR, TempSteel, MonoRed, SolarFlare, U/B, G/W Tokens?
