I agree with Nyth that there is a possiblility of the first image being for the "Fire and Lighting" release.
Has the new art for Chain Lightning been uploaded to MtGO yet?
Also, has the new Liliana Art been uploaded yet? If not, this might narrow down the window of time that the Ajani art will be released (as it most propally would be released before the new Duels of the Planeswalker game then.)
No fire & lightning art is on mtgo and vess is not either.
It has to be for a promo. There is no way they would upload 1 card out of a full set many months in advance, makes no sense at all. Its just weird they uploaded it now as they don't usually upload art to mtgo unless its going to be used shortly and I can't see any event soon that would be giving out an alternate art ajani.
They will also be directed to their nearest retail location to present the voucher and receive an alternate art premium foil Liliana Vess Planeswalker promo card and two M11 sample decks. (Promo cards and decks will be provided to participating retailers by Wizards).
I bolded the important part that apparently everyone missed.
I'm guessing Ajani is likely an avatar for the player? Don't play MTGO so IDK if they even have those.
In MTGO, cards, avatars, tokens, and planeswalkers all have a specific naming convention for their arts and planeswalkers are the only ones that have 2 arts uploaded per card. I've never seen one mixed up so its safe to assume the ajani art will be for a planeswalker.
In today's MTGO update all the SoM promos (pre/release, gateway, gameday) as well as the new FNM promos (rift bolt/gatekeeper) were uploaded.
There were also a few new arts I did not recognize.
The first one I swear I've seen before but for the life of me cannot remember where. I'm sure someone will ID it for me.
The second looks very much like the gatekeeper FNM art, so I'd guess it'll be the next FNM promo though I don't know what card it would be for.
Lastly, its obviously an ajani art and was uploaded as planeswalker art (planeswalkers get 2 art files in the mtgo folder) even though it isn't full card art size. Again not sure what it would be for.
No, they name token art (as well as planeswalker and avatar art) different in the mtgo pics folder.
All you have to do is sort the folder by date modified and you can easily see what they update after each downtime. They don't usually update art unless it is going to be used soon, so its strange to get promo art for cards we don't even have in paper yet.
Theres a few others that came with this update that I don't recognize. The first two look old and I can't figure out what they are. The third I believe is the full art specter for game day.

edit: added the art from the frames folder.
