Master of Cruelties doesn't work with this at all. Master's ability triggers when no blockers are declared against it. Putting it out with ninjutsu would get it on the field after that point. The last point that the Master can be put out and be able to trigger is the Declare Attackers step.

As far as its viability, I'll wait to see the rest of the set before making that judgement.

posted a message on Boros Mythic (in Japanese)
The reason for the indestructible clause is obvious. This isn't instant to play it on an opponent's turn. You use this during a suicidal alpha strike to blank your opponents trades and give yourself a second wave.

This can also combo better with other cards than just an extra combat step. You'll get to untap all your stuff, allows additional attackers that you cast after combat to come in on the final wave, and any upkeep triggers can be added on. If we get any effect that gives an extra combat step in this format, it could get quite nuts (Note that the only two cards that do that in Standard right now are rotating out).

This card is going to make combat against Boros decks a nightmare. If you try to trade with their attackers, you could end up just dying to this. I'm not going to call this a money card for the set, since it relies on turning guys sideways to work, but expect it to be the kill card of any aggressive deck with Red and White.

posted a message on Rosheen Meanderer and the new Diamond colorless mana symbol
    Quote from The Emortal »
I acknowledge that, but the point I am making here is that no card exists that allows Rosheen's C to be spent on C in costs, only on x or 'generic mana' 1,2,3. etc. I don't know of any other instance were this happens.

Lets do a quick gatherer search and see:
Grand Architect: Only Eldrazi have the colorless requirement in their cost, so there's no chance the CC could be used to pay a cost of C
Mishra's Workshop: Same deal as the Architect
Myr Reservoir: I could see Myr gaining the C mechanic... if we ever return to their plane. As it stands, none do.
Renowned Weaponsmith,Soldevi Machinist: Same as the workshop

I honestly don't see the issue though. The C symbol isn't connected to the Eldrazi, it just happens that the Eldrazi are the first race to require their mana be colorless. We'll likely see this on artifact-only mana for the rest of Magic, albeit rarely.

posted a message on Izzet Mechanic: Catalyst
Interesting effect. A nice instant/sorcery version of convoke, with the downside of only working once, and the upside of helping any creature spell. Seems balanced, as long as the spells it is on aren't too pushed compared to a baseline.

    Nitpick on reminder text:
(Then exile this card. While this card is exiled, it can help cast a creature spell. Putting this card in your graveyard while casting a creature pays for 1 or one of this card's colors.)
No functional change, just fixed the wording a bit. Card's colors can be represented at the end as you had it.

    As for the cards themselves:

    Foreseen Summoning 1UU
    Sorcery (C)
    Draw two cards.
Catalyst (then exile this card, it can help cast a creature. Putting this card in your graveyard while casting a creature pays for 1 or U.)

Divination sees some play, but is overshadowed by more than enough to make this fair.

    Spark Rush 1R
    Sorcery (C)
Spark Rush deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
Catalyst (then exile this card, it can help cast a creature. Putting this card in your graveyard while casting a creature pays for 1 or R.)

Such a weak shock... It might even be fine as an instant. Would need some testing.

    Wizard Capacitor 1U
    Creature - Human Wizard (C)
Charged - 2U: Draw a card. Activate this ability only the turn Wizard Capacitor entered the battlefield.
    1/3

While the keyword is fine... I don't see how this has much synergy with the Catalyst mechanic. Sure, the spell is cheaper since you can use the built up spells to play it, but those can't help you pay the charged ability. Maybe it's just that your example is bad. I could see it working on a high cost creature with a lower cost on the Charged effect. A direct synergy would just be multikicker.

posted a message on Does Gaea's Anthem work with the proliferate mechanic?
Gaea's Anthem (And all other effects like it) has a static ability that boosts the power and toughness of creatures you control. No counters are produced by it, so proliferating has no effect on it.

The only time counters are used is when the card's text (or for older cards, Oracle text) specifically mentions counters. If no mention of a counter is made, there isn't one.

posted a message on Round 2? Round 2.
    Zealous Recruit 1W
    Creature - Human Soldier (C)
Whenever ~ attacks, it gets +2/+0 until end of turn.
Whenever ~ blocks, it gets +0/+2 until end of turn.
    1/1
“The Zealots are the Knightengale’s first line of warriors at their disposal.” — Gor’Von, Eye of the Sightless

Seems WR with the attack trigger. Could be okay though.

    Oversight of Thought 4UU
    Enchantment - Aura (R)
    Enchant creature
    You control enchanted creature
Threshold — When enchanted creature leaves the battlefield, if you have seven or more cards in your graveyard, you may attach ~ to another target creature.

I like this, but as others have said, could lead to combo abuse.

    Fill the Graves 1B
    Enchantment - Aura (C)
    Enchant land
    Enchanted land is a Swamp.
Threshold — At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are seven or more cards in your graveyard, destroy enchanted land.
Even the land rejects the cursed dead.

Bit boring. Nice filler in a set with Threshold

    Orcish Mechanist 3R
    Creature - Orc Artificer (C)
    Haste
    Sacrifice ~: Destroy target artifact.
    3/1
Artificers in less civilized cultures tend to do less fixing and more breaking of the relics they collect.

No issues at all. Might be an uncommon based on the number of artifacts in the set, but could work as common as well.

    Bloodsteel Longsword 2
    Artifact - Equipment (R)
    Equipped creature gets +2/+0.
Threshold — As long as you have seven or more cards in your graveyard, equipped creature has “Exile a creature card from a graveyard: This creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.”
Equip—2, Put the top card of your library into your graveyard.

Um, from "A" graveyard? I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Not that its too powerful, but it could cause this to be used as nothing more than graveyard hate. Again, not too powerful, but can warp the purpose of the card too much.

Unless that was what you meant for it to do. In which case, it's strong, but not too strong I think. Maybe up the casting cost a bit if it needs to drop later in a game.

    Coliseum of Sordia
    Land (R)
T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
ThresholdT: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool if you have seven or more cards in your graveyard.
The stench of blood, followed by the roar of the crowd.[/QUOTE]

I still don't understand why this wasn't printed in the Odyssey block. It makes sense to me.

posted a message on YMTC 19: Salvation - Mechanics Submissions
    Ninjutsu :1mana::symb::symb:
Whenever Fang of Numai deals combat damage to a player, that player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
Whenever Fang of Numai becomes blocked, you may return it to its owner's hand.

Not only does it show up out of nowhere, it can vanish back there too.
