unsummon is primarily for hunted horror since if i dont have an enabler it can be used to bounce the 3/3 protection from black so that I have a meaty 2 cost by turn 2 in the right circumstance
Haven't adjusted numbers accordingly or put in land yet since this deck is still in it's alpha phase for me but The Idea
is obviously to combo out low cost big creatures using TrickbindTorpor OrbSundial of the Infinite or alternatively getting out creatures such as Hunted Phantasm or Hunted Horror and using UnsummonBoomerang to rid the battlefield of tokens as well as control the field. Isochron Scepter fits very well in this deck since it is full of heavy hitting low cost instants to protect from removal which is usually this type of decks biggest weakness. Fabricate can tutor the important artifacts I need.
I just have to adjust numbers, put in land and create a sideboard. I'm trying to make this deck fairly competitive and have it fairly protected from removal in general.
I have been slightly fascinated by Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded recently. I know he has been the laughingstock of the planeswalkers but I was wondering if there is a combination of cards that would synergize well enough with him to make a legitimate deck. Lets go over the possibilities.
+1 Draw a card, Discard a card at random - This is the primary reason he is so bad, so let's find a way to make this not SO bad. What if every card in your deck
wants or at least doesn't care if it goes into the graveyard so the discard doesn't matter.I'll be mostly trying to stick to red black and blue since, I believe are the colors that Pair best with Tibalt. cards like Faithless Looting, Deep Analysis, Mystic Retrieval etc... venturing into creature cards like Skaab Ruinator,Firewing Phoenix, Flamewake Phoenix, Bloodfire Phoenix and Demigod of revenge I'm sure there are many better options than the ones I have put forth (especially in black) but the point is to negate the bad of his +1. Lets move on to ability number 2.
-6 Gain control of all creatures until the end of the turn, they gain haste until the end of the turn -Exhume seems like such a natural synergy with Tibalt and this ability as well, revive a strong creature from your own graveyard give it haste as well as take control of a creature in your opponents graveyard. also cards that give opponents creatures such as Hunted Dragon or Forbidden Orchard would work very well with this ability.
I know I am not very good at writing this type of thing but hopefully I can inspire someone to give Tibalt a second chance and make something truly playable out of him even if he isn't the primary component I feel like Tibalt could really shine in the proper deck. he may not ever be playable in Modern but perhaps in competitive casual play he may be viable.
(there was a lot more I wanted to add to this I just don't have a whole lot of time)
OK, so I do remember seeing a deck like bogles and my idea was more based around the creatures that do the damage getting stronger by their own mean while my enchantments are more to just keep them alive, however it did give me some more ideas as to how to make this deck better.
I'm actually incredibly new to colors other than black, i've been playing black since the release of shards of alara (when I started and really just now branched out into more colors. i'm also fairly new to modern so I don't have a firm grasp on other decks. I'll look into bogles though. Thanks for the input!
Set out trying for a Hexproof Deck that I could keep my ceatures like Deeproot champion (or others like him) alive while he slowly gets overpowered and tramples my opponent to death. I am trying to see what better enchantments to add, maybe some creatures to take out, number variables etc.. Its a solid deck in my casual games but lacks real killing potential. Suggestions?
I'll mess around with removing the Vial but I think i'll definately keep in the Phyrexian Obliterator because it hasn't failed me yet (except 1 time vs my friends white deck he got a clutch swords to plowshares but most of the time it doesn't get removed.
The Vial is basically just to free up mana to play my pack rat ability, or on turn 4 to drop a free obliterator after making my opponents discard anything that can kill him. in most games obliterator has seen a tremendous amount of success in this deck and has avoided removal for 12 games in a row so far (of the games I got him out)
Edited: Took some advice, I think it is still a bit rocky but I playtested this version and it seemed to do pretty well. Aether Vial really seems to help pack rat as having it almost always allows me to have the extra mana after playing a card to still put out another copy. Every time I have gotten the Phyrexian Obliterator out on the field I have won the game due to my opponents not having anything in hand to deal with him but I took it down to *1 because an early obliterator seems like a wasted card in my hand. The main source of damage, however seems to come from the addition of Shreiking Affliction and The Rack.
The deck is mostly discard with the occasional Pack Rat and Obliterator finishing the game.
The Playtesting I have done so far seems to be more successful than my last deck. It seems to be mildly inconsistent still. I just don't know what to change from here.
I still need a sideboard. (which I am very bad at making because I don't have a super firm grasp on the meta still.
P.S - Liliana of the Veil is unfortunately not an option for me at this time.
If you're skipping the rest of your turns, and your opponent doesn't have plays because their stuff comes in tapped... You don't need a kill condition to accelerate your win. You only have to repeat the chrono-lock 40-50 times and they deck out. I'd consider running Forsaken City as a non-swordsable lock-condition as well. It won't provide you with an automatic win like Chronotog will, so maybe a singleton Jace Beleren would work for your alternate wincon.
the reason for the kill condition (ex.Black Vice) is for things such as eldrazi which end in an endless loop because their graveyard cycles back into their library

-4 Tibalt deals damage to target player equal to the number of cards in their hand - Why not give both players unlimited hand size and force them to overdraw to max the potential of this ability cards like Keeper of the Tome, Naturally I should mention Price of knowledge expensive, but worth the synergy. Force the opponent to draw with Sign in Blood or Painful LessonandDamnable Pact. other good synergies with this ability include Spiteful Visions, Magus of the wheel, collective defiance, wheel of fate and burning inquiry
