I'm just going to say that, I saw this, was like, "oh, okay," and moved on? I read every flavor text I see, just because I like it, and I read this, and didn't care. Why does this matter? This is a card game. Played in game stores. Why are more recent posts getting more and more agitated? This isn't a big deal. Nobody should've seen this and gone, "OH YEAH THIS IS AMAZING MY FAVORITE CARD GAME'S COMPANY IS INSTITUTING SOCIAL JUSTICE EHBRBRBRBRRR," and an equally negative reaction shouldn't have been present either. This isn't a triumph. This is, in all honesty, an acknowledgement that ancient Greco-Roman culture involved a lot of sodomy.
To me, this is confirmation that the returning never done elsewhere future sight mechanic is enchantment creatures.
I'd argue that multiple permanent types for enchantments isn't a returning mechanic. I think it'll be the one we haven't seen for the God cards, and I'm sure they'll be enchantment creatures.
Attached is a piece. Seems Clint Cearley was asked to design a "crazed shaman" planeswalker, named Ramaz, with the feel of blue, red, and/or green. THEORIES, GO.
He also states he doesn't want to give away a ton of spoilers. My only theory is he's from Theros, or, because of what's around him, he's got something to do with Dominaria's Ice Age? Or perhaps he's from Valla, which, being a Nordic setting, would lend itself to being a kingdom cold.

At the beginning each player's upkeep, that player loses X life and discards X cards, where X is the number of permanents they control that they don't own. UBR: Target opponent gains control of target permanent you control.

Boring, kind of opposite day-ish, but there's not much to work with with minotaur nicelady going into grixis.
If we ever have a block on Valla, that will be our Norse block.
If they were ever to do a Norse block, what I would speculate would be that the block was going to end in a bad way for the Plane, and we'd know it from the start. Norse mythology is all about fatalism. The Gods know their fates at the end of time, like Thor knowing he'll die killing the World Serpent.
Continuing with this idea, human warriors and the like would have some abilities that go off when they die, but not undying, as it doesn't fit. I'd imagine this keyword would have to do with dying during the combat phase, dying in battle and all that.
Valkyries would be the main name for most angels in the block, and there would be plenty. Frost Giants would pretty much have to be their own tribe, and elves would be more like the Lorwyn elves (Nazis by any other name). Goblins also easily fit, as do trolls.
So, therefore,
White: Angels
Blue: Frost Giants?
Black: Frost Giants?, Elves?
Red: Goblins
Green: Trolls, Elves?
Humans: Everywhere. Just about all of the 'dies in combat' triggers would be on Red and White Humans. I cold see this set being about the five enemy color combos.
White/Black: Angels
Red/White: Humans
Green/Blue: Norse Elves
Black/Green: Trolls
Red/Blue: Giants
Of course, these combinations either try to fit in the norms of design, or expand greatly beyond normal design conventions. Blue Giants would be hard to work in, but it could theoretically work. The main problem is blue giants at lower rarities. The other tribes seem like they'd work pretty easily.
I wouldn't imagine a set/block with this sort of design would be in until MaRo's next 7-year-plan. The idea of tribes having assigned colors, including humans being a considered tribe with colors, is a little fresh from Innistrad. But who knows?
True, but here's hoping that that reference is expanded upon in this. If there's flavorfully a war going on between people and Slivers, given that flavorfully the return of Slivers is kind of a big deal, we could possibly expect the setting to be important too.
Every pack of Dragon's Maze has a chance, rather than a basic land, of a Gate, Shock, or Mythic land (The Impicit Maze). The Guild packages at the prerelease have a guild pack of the guild that you pick, like the other prereleases, 4 DGM packs, and a guild pack of a secretly allied guild, which can be any guild that shares a color with your primary guild.

no i didn't actually pay for it in advance although, i would have if they asked. I actually asked them if I could for the exact reason stated above, to get a receipt.
I really really wanted it too. But 225 is hard to come up with....
I'm just really upset because I'm a regular. I go to the store whenever I can. And recently I brought a lot including two boxes of RtR.
i really want the diao chan, if someone gets this and does want that card please pm me. I have plenty to trade.
if not... i may still get this...
That really sucks dude. It's pretty asinine of a store to pull that crap. If a store lets you preorder, even without money, it's pretty dicklike of them to pull that crap, even if it is technically legal. I work at my LGS and we have a policy of always MSRP, if not lower than that if we need to. Our FTV's were 35, and our Arsenal's were 75.
Could just be a flashback scene. Before Malfegor died, Grent knew of him and associated with him. Good tie-in with an already known character, and provides her a bit of backstory.

And yes, I meant damage in general.

Um, guys, Thunian war priest in flavor text, Thune is a place on Shandalar. We're going to Shandalar for this core set.

I just thought of the explanation, it was a sudden moment of clarity.
You're hiding the spell away, only to be accessed by the creature that has the way to decode your cipher on the spell.
