- 2 Door of Destinies - too slow for aggro
- 2 Basilisk Collar - same; Goblins are somewhat expendable
- 2 Quest for the Goblin Lord - same; you're better off dropping more Goblins
- 2 Bloodmark Mentor
- 2 Goblin Grappler
- 2 Mogg Sentry
- 2 Raging Goblin - Chieftain gives Haste, and Bushwhacker or Sledder are better 1-drops
- 2 Searing Blaze
- 1 Onslaught
and adding
- 2 Lightning Bolt - or Tarfire, since it works with Ringleader
- 2 Goblin Bushwhacker - awesome
- 2 Mogg War Marshal
- 1 Siege-Gang Commander - running 2-3 is fun and it's great dropping these guys with Lackey/Instigator.
- 1 Stingscourger - removal
- 2 Goblin Lackey - Should be a 4-of for a first-turn play
- 4 Goblin Ringleader - fills your hand with Goblins
- 2 Goblin Piledriver - along with these guys
- 4 Gempalm Incinerator - awesome removal
- 4 Rishadan Port - Great to lock down your opponent, if you can afford em. Or Wastelands if you're up against non-basics.
- 4 Strip Mine - same (as many as your group allows)
- 4 Aether Vial - Really helps you drop a ton of creatures, decreases your dependency on drawing lands
I don't think it adds up to 60, and these're just suggestions based on how I like to play Goblins. The point being to use Lackey, Vial, and Ringleader to play a ton of Goblins, and burning things out of the way to deal damage (like a Sligh deck). Also 4-8 fetchlands would help thin it for Ringleader/general card draw. Other than those and the Ports, Wastelands, and/or Strip Mines, Mountains are great.
I'm not really a fan of using non-burn spells in
Perhaps consider Sparksmith or Skirk Prospector for removal/mana as well (but they shouldn't be too necessary with Gempalm+Stingscourger and Vials+Instigators+Lackeys). Maybe sideboard Goblin King and some removal.
If you can't afford more Piledrivers, Reckless Ones are a sensible substitute.
If you plan lots of burn or sacrifice a lot of your creatures, Goblin Sharpshooter is awesome.
Goblins were the first deck I made, and they worked really well (too well) against my casual buddies. You can see my deck here (I'm not running any non-creature spells except Vials though
Hope this helps! - 2 Door of Destinies - too slow for aggro

How does this look?

Mar 20, 2010Caspid posted a message on Elves alphaI forgot to mention that I play online (through OCTGN), so budget isn't an issue. I'll edit my post.Posted in: Caspid Blog
I wasn't sure whether the fetchlands made enough of a difference for Sylvan Messenger or Elvish Visionary to be worth the life penalty.
Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary doesn't seem as useful as Elvish Archdruid, as I'm not running very many lands. I might add one of him in though.

Spellstutter should be a 4-of.
No point in splashing black without Bitterblossom.
Harbinger, Sprite Noble, Oona, Liege, and the black critters aren't the greatest.
Try a more robust counter package (Brainstorm/Daze/Spell Snare/Spell Pierce/Counterspell/Mana Leak/whatever you prefer, except for Faerie Trickery, which is strictly inferior to Counterspell).
I personally like Standstill and Bitterblossom, but they're pricey.
The curve isn't very pretty. You're gonna wanna take out some of the higher-cost stuff you don't need.
Door of Destinies is too slow imo; wouldn't you rather drop 2-3 more creatures? If you want more pump, you could try Wilt-Leaf Liege.
What is Wrath of God doing in an aggro deck? Really bad idea, even with Exemplar.
Armored Ascension, like most auras, is trash. It's expensive and gets you 2-for-1'd.
Pentarch Paladin is also bad. Horrible topdeck who's dead most of the time and can't use ability till next turn the rest (by then he'll have been removed).
You have no one-drop plays. Student of Warfare is a decent one that you can dump leftover mana into.
You can also try 1-2 Elspeth or Ajani.
Go down to 60 cards. Just because there's a mill deck around doesn't mean you play a more inconsistent deck; rather, you play one that'll kill them faster/more consistently before you get milled. Unless it's something ridiculously fast like Painter, you should have the upper hand.
Drop Holy Day. I don't think it does what you think it does, and just ends up slowing you down. YOU'RE supposed to be the fast aggro deck; you should be happy when someone plays spot removal.
Brave the Elements is great offensively and defensively.
Land Tax / Scroll Rack can get you some fuel.
If you're fast enough, Path to Exile can be better than Swords, since it doesn't slow down your clock.
Mutavaults can be knights.
Emeria, the Sky Ruin can win the late-game.
Fist of Suns would be cool
or play 3x Virulent Sliver + 1 Heart Sliver on first turn?
edit: oh hah, missed the singleton part. m'b.
White - Knight or Soldiers / white weenie
Blue - Merfolk or Faeries
Greeen - Elves
Red - Goblins
Black - idk, Rats or Specters maybe. Spectral discard is fun.
edit: oh right, Zombies. lol. haven't made one of those yet!
Goblins are by far the most dominant, followed by Merfolk then Elves (unless it's combo elves + clamp).
Here're some of the tribal decks I've made. Some are unnecessarily strong and others are pretty gimmicky, and they don't meet your requirements (I don't think), but hope it helps in figuring out a place to start.

It's also really nice when primers include more than just a decklist with brief explanations. Some things that might be included: introduction/purpose, history, strengths/weaknesses, general strategies, card-specific strategies, card synergies, cards that didn't make the cut (and why not), sideboard options, matchup analyses/recommendations, top 8s, links to additional reading/match vids, etc. Proper formatting's also pretty important.
What distinguishes a casual primer, imo, is that it should contain card considerations from each format, as well as budget options for expensive things, and much wider (or just broader/more general) matchup commentary.
you could end up drawing nothing but 7cc cards for entire games
especially without tutors or draw
but i guess if you wanna go with it perhaps think about:
I never liked Negator either, but I suppose he fits
not a fan of Dark Ritual in Gate-type decks; too inconsistent and you're left in topdeck mode if something goes wrong. just preference.
I assume you're on a Vintage B/R list?
Consider:
In that Halo example, if there's an element on a map that confers a huge advantage, players would be stupid not to take it. No, it's not "cheap" or "broken", since those are words scrubs use to handicap themselves into staying non-competitive. The scrub isn't the one who takes advantage of things; it's the one who complains about it.
In this case, without a format, anything goes. However, if you're not playing to win, you're going to have to sacrifice some competitiveness (it almost sounds redundant - "if you're not playing competitively, don't be competitive"). Seeing as this is the "casual" forum, which is pretty much synonymous with "non-competitive" or else everyone would just play with no restrictions, I'm guessing that you value fun more than maximizing your win record. You don't have to feel bad or guilty about it, but you're gonna have to understand why no one will want to play with you.
Any possibility we could adopt the EDH board and create a 2HG/Multiplayer board? I think they fall under the realm of "Casual" and would be easier to find and more appealing to ask for advice in than "Variant Formats".
I just stumbled across this on the official forums:
http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/19075982/The_Dictionary_Deck-O-Pedia
Something like this is what I'd envision for the index stickies, perhaps broken down by category as some have suggested.
My point with the Legacy primers was that we should use those as a starting point, add in budget/out-of-format considerations, take out Legacy metagame analyses, and be done instead of writing whole new primers that're gonna end up looking about the same.
