I guess that would not be too far fetched. They introduced a planeswalker in ice age being 20/20 and indestructible...but dies to bounce
Anyhow - so that would just mean that they would be almost game winning conditions you have to put more than just casting cost in...but I guess this is then speculation.
I would love to summon Yawgmoth though....giving me a bargain....
Man Limited is going to be crazy with all these abilities running crazy. I usually get tired of the main set by this time of the year, but Ravnica as a whole hasn't seized to amaze me.
There are two common removals that say "destroy target creature" plus a whole lot of burn in Dissension so I guess they got red back in the game. I guess you need a lot of removal with so many efficient creatures running around.
I think it is almost certain, that they will bring back old legends if they make a whole block around bringing back old abilities and mixing them up. Or maybe these Legends went to the ghost world and "learned some new tricks".
So they would reprint them but print updated versions (kind of like they did with Ertai).
I don't think that we need any more reminding as to why the CoK Block really blew - it simply did for many reasons that have been explained along the line. I play Limited Sealed at least once a week and have been playing Magic since Urza's Desaster. During the last few months of that block I just couldn't take it anymore...and I DO love to play magic!
Draft was fun but also very predictable.
While the disaster in T2 was actually mainly due to Mirrodin it really didn't help that Kamigawa had nothing to offer to fight those evils (and I don't mean single cards - I mean strategy). Instead Wizards just banned a deck and put out an artifact that dominated the rest of the season (I mean Jitte). T2 right now is great, but what is the lesson here? Is wizards planning on doing one sucky block followed by one good block?
To make my point: I don't think this article was very necessary as everyone has their own opinion by now on why or why not they liked Kamigawa. I posted my thoughts on saviors this time around last year and was warned by the mods that I wasn't «fun to be around» just because I really didn't like Wizards putting out a bad set. So for you mods out there:
I LOVE KAMIGAWA BECAUSE IT WAS THE GREATEST SET EVER!
«...forests and green creatures you control» would have been the thing to do. Great freakin' art, but the card I don't quite see in any competitive deck yet. Even a bit costly for Limited.
Actually this isn't really great in limited because it doesn't target. But in a constructed environment this can greatly help to beat silly white enchantments and the likes. Instant is a nice bonus too...I am still a little skeptical though whether three mana is going to cut it in stuff like MonoRed.
Seriously - maybe...and I am only saying maybe in sealed deck I will consider this dude...maybe. This is not plated Slagwurm as it can be targeted - but it has trample...which it will deal exactly once - 5 defense and no regeneration? NINE Mana?!?!? What do I want to soulshift for 8? I mean for 6 I get dragons...
Actually I do see this being part of a pretty good block deck - though I don't know all the cards yet - this seems to be costed perfectly. You can bring it out early and use it right from the beginning...not another boring legend for a ridiculous amount of mana.
What bothers me here is that wizards said they wanted to create an environment where they didn't stuff the deck down the players throat but left many possibilities for us to explore...ok so we have splice.dec and maybe some sprit.dec...*nods off*
...so that is what Rosewater was saying about reserving «design space»...it's just another word for making crappy cards. I mean seriously this set is ALL about hype. Those of you who are still in denial I hope you are proving me wrong - maybe Wizards is holding back all the goodness in the remaining 40 cards or so...yeah, right.
But seriously this is all just very, very, very sad. I have been with Magic for a long time and don't always expect brokenness - but at least give us some new ideas. This is all just «Reprints-into-arcane», «Crappy-card-even-crappier-if-you-don't-control-CARDNAME», «Artifacts-that-do-what?» and «Crappy-creatures-with-a-lot-of-abitlities-noone-is-ever-going-to-use-so let's-make-'em-Legends». What the ****?
Somebody at wizards needs to get fired. I mean how many 2UU counterspells can there be?

I know there is a lot of crap in any set - but lately I have been putting more than 50% of my Limited Pile in the «Immediately unuseable»-pile. This set is starting to really get on my nerves. It seems like they put so much thought into making great art and stories that they forgot about something unimportant like gameplay...Oh how sad this has gotten...but I still don't give up hope I guess.
Man this is a really cool card. Not only do you get to slow down your opponents game - if there ever is going to be an Arcane Deck stuff like this is definately going to be needed...it's not an instant though...but hey, I am not complaining
...now back to thinking about how to break this card into a deck
Man this card suuuuuuuucks! I think I am going to cancel my Kamigawa order right now...just kidding - still play Limited. But what the hell? Rare? Knowing my luck I am going to be pulling two of these at the pre release!
...this is just sad...
...what sad, sad cards. I mean 7 mana for a 4/4 creature that doesn't acutally DO anything yet? Or playing one of your opponents cards? WTF? I mean am I missing something here? He still draws a card...just not the next one.
Oh, and a 5 mana, no instant card for drawing maybe a couple of cards? Ok, ok - limited, sign me up...it's a common too!
Anyhow - so that would just mean that they would be almost game winning conditions you have to put more than just casting cost in...but I guess this is then speculation.
