SB options in RG HOLLOWVINE for Living End? I have Relic of Progenitus in my deck currently but was underwhelmed in the games I played. My list is similar to GodOfFunerals except with MB Lavaman.
What's the current line of thinking re: Goblin Guide? I know that there were lists running Guide in a lot of the early versions -- what contributed to him getting the axe over cards like Bushwacker?
Opened Sorin in P3, and also picked up an Always Watching but decided not to be too greedy.
M1G1 Beat opponent's GW Delirium deck on turn 5 with Triskadekaphobia. Happy Friday the 13th!
M1G2 Beat opponent with Olivia's Bloodsworn and Uncaged Fury real quickly.
2-0
M2G1 Beat opponent's UW Clue/Control deck, despite the fact that he had Angelic Purge for my Triskadekaphobia and Sorin. Dealt with his creatures using Fiery Temper and To the Slaughter.
M2G2 He seemed flooded or something. Just laid some creatures and swung a bunch.
4-0
M3G1 Very slow RG Werewolves deck. Dealt with creatures and used some tricks to block profitably. Won with an alpha strike.
M3G2 He mulled to 5 and I kept a 1 lander on the draw. (Mountain, Insolent Neonate, Sanguinary Mage, Uncaged Fury, Tormenting Voice, To the Slaughter, Stallian of Ashmouth) Took me three turns to draw another land (off of a Neonate/Fiery Temper block) and then I managed to get the third. Ended up winning with Triskadekaphobia. Happy Friday the 13th!
6-0!
This is the list that I'm working on building. I probably won't have all of the pieces until next week because of the mail (hoping to pick up the Ob Nixilis and a 2nd Season's Past at the LGS this Fri) but my intent is to run it at next Friday's FNM. This deck has gotten me back into magic after a 3 year hiatus...it just does ugly, dumb, brutally powerful things. I don't think it was a fluke. I think that mulliganning is a big deal with this deck (from my goldfished runs) but I think it will be a major player in T2 while it is legal. I went ahead and adjusted to have 3x Transgress the Mind, since they hit pesky 3-mana creatures and spells that Bant Company plays and exile them as opposed to just tossing them in the yard. I've been playing with Ob Nixilis maindeck, and I've got to say that for Turn 5s when you don't have a Dark Petition, he can be pretty cool as a legitimate threat and card drawing engine. With all the removal in this deck, I don't think it's unlikely that he will ultimate fairly regularly which gives you another out in games that go long.
Pro Tour Madrid. We'll see how many ppl have a look in this thread now lol. At least three pros playing a Dark Past list. Seasons Past is up 334% online. Dark Petition is up 220%
For real. I was already planning on picking this deck up as a cheap one to play the days I can make it to FNM, and of course I waited until today to purchase. $100.08 total to get the deck, which still isn't bad for T2, but I do feel pissed that I didn't save a TON of money earlier.
Working on a G/B Zombies build, utilizing Collected Company for extra value. Zombies are sort of a subtheme at this point; trying to figure out which direction to go or if monoblack is the best choice, but I have to say I'm in love with the idea of gaining card draw from Tireless Tracker and being able to Collected Company into a Liliana, Heretical Healer and Fleshbag Marauder. Not sure how to fit 4x Duress in instead of the 2x but seems good with how many copies of CoCo and Declaration in Stone there are running around.
In Kenji's list from GP Nagoya, and in this list from a recent MTGO event many players are running Deathrite Shamans in the sideboard instead of maindeck.
What do you guys think of this? Do you think the Shamans come in for other dorks post-board? Why not just include them in the first place?
Yeah, I look FORWARD to playing against Delver--the matchup is insane. I've only lost 7 games to the deck while playing Standard, and I've played in PTQs, SCG Events, and a TCG Max Point...and yes, that's 7 games, not matches.
I played in the SCG Standard Open in Indy and lost two very close matches against Esper Solar Flare and Delver (where both games were won in turns). I sided in Thalia several times against Esper and Delver, and thought they were very helpful. Interesting to note is that the reason I lost my second game to Solar Flare is mainly because he had triple DoJ to stop my hyper aggressive start of Thalia into SoWaP.
I topped out on Inferno Titan, and was quite grateful to be running him. Equally as happy to be running Acidic Slime--with Angel he gets bonkers, and land denial against Esper is super helpful.
