That looks like it has some pretty good synergy and recursion of artifacts.
If you're going to have Scrapheap Scrounger and Chandra, Torch of Defiance, you should also include Eternal Scourge. I know it's not a Construct, but the synergy is amazing. Scrounger + Scourge in gy, exile Scourge to return Scrounger to battlefield. Cast Scourge. Exile Scourge with Chandra, don't cast, deal 2. Cast Scourge.
As for OP, I'm really wanting this kind of deck to be competitive.
Here's the situation. I see at least 3 competitive deck types revolving around artifacts as AEther Revolt is going to be released. I am guessing that number might even grow before the month is over. I'm considering running either R/U or R/B and possibly U/B. So keep in mind that cards like Fragmentize and Natural State will not be available to me. My question is, how good of a sideboard card do you consider Release the Gremlins turning out to be? Also, if you can think of another answer to artifacts within the Grixis color scheme, it's much appreciated. Obviously this is all speculation, but it might help me work out a deck for this month. All constructive input is appreciated, thanks.
Playing against a Karn deck with my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck, he basically had his win out with Darksteel Forge and a bunch of artifacts. All he needed was to have his next turn. So I tutor for Hellkite Tyrant and swing. he has a Vedalken Orrery out, but dropping Platinum Angel does not stop the 1 damage from going thru and stealing all his artifacts. Everyone is now hellbent on trying to stop me from winning, after he pings my general to the commander zone. I'm at 16 and the Marchesa player drops Phyrexian Obliterator followed by Gray Merchant of Asphodel to bring me to 10. The next player can do nothing. At the end of his turn, I drop a Darksteel Ingot to make it 20 artifacts, then Body Double my Hellkite Tyrant. gg
All of the new mono colored decks are a blast to play and I would rank them 1.)Red 2.)Green 3.)White 4.)Blue 5.)Black with no modifications made. They are easily the best functionally printed decks in recent memory and you can tell just looking at the landbase that an EDH player made them. I was not a fan of any of the tri colored precons. They felt like shells of a deck with a few cards that were good for legacy and most likely made by legacy players. Many of the cards were good, but functionally the decks did not seem that great. A manabase for tri color is hard to optimize for the price range.
ps. why can't I use the greater than symbol on this forum?
Awesome, thanks for the input. I was hoping to get the red deck.
I was wondering if you all think the precon decks are OK. Also, which is better. The scrap mastery one with Daretti, or the one with Prossh... Power Hungry think it's called. Let me know. Thanks!
Basically the idea is to stomp the opponent with syngergy. I've been thinking of adding Lightning Crafter, but ultimately I don't believe I will. Cheese is typically not my thing, and I'm also wary of the fact that tutoring for pieces is oft times thwarted with tenacity. I'd rather have a set of 100 cards that can stand on its own without having to combo out. There are some very good synergistic cards here tho.
Copy effects such as Felhide Spiritbinder, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Flamerush Rider help Alesha to create an army of Modular critters who keep pumping each other and in the case of Kiki Jiki, sac for Triskelion. There's also Hero of Oxid Ridge plus double strikers and beatdown components. Just swing and hit, if they die swing and bring them back. If they kill Alesha, swing and repeat. etc.
I still need to test a bit of removal, cards that work well in the color combos and 0/0 creatures such as Savage Firecat and more of the modular artifact creatures.
Hey all, here is my Alesha deck. It has faced some rough competition, but managed to go 2-3 so far. Budget deck, cost me roughly $16-18 on Magic Online.
I saw a really good deck online that worked around a nasty combo. Basically you want Arcbound Overseer in your gy, then attack with Alesha. Drop Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker or Felhide Spiritbinder or Flamerush Rider. Having two of these combo pieces is nasty in itself. Kiki is the most ideal. You can gamble for the Arcbound without much of a hassle. THEN drop Triskelion. Sac, put tons of modular counters on Triskelion. Copy, rinse, beatdown.
