  • posted a message on [800][Unpowered][EDH][Multiplayer] Necroski's EDH Cube!
Hi everyone, I recently completed a first draft of an EDH cube I am designing and I would love some feedback.

The way I am hoping to draft this is as follows:

    • First, packs of 5 random commanders are given to each player and drafted as normal
    • Then each player drafts five 15 card packs * from the cube
    • Once drafting is complete, players must create a 60 card EDH deck (including the general). These decks must adhere to the generals color identity (with the exception of a card drafted with [[Unexpected Potential]]). Everybody will be given one [[Command Tower]] and any number of basic lands, but otherwise fixing must be drafted in the cube.
    • Then we play EDH!

    The generals list is here

    The cube is here

Archetypes I'm trying to support include:
    • artifacts
    • blink
    • control
    • tokens
    • sacrifice
    • reanimator
    • instants/sorceries matter
    • voltron
    • ramp
    • lifegain
So every card in the cube and every general hopefully fits one or more of those strategies... I imagine the cube will pretty much always a work in progress, so any feedback is very very welcome (good or bad)

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this!

Rite of Replication is the bomb. Kicked on most any ETB creature gets you so much mileage its absurd.
Earthcraft ends games in basically any token deck. That card is disgustingly good.

But X is limited to how many creatures and +1/+1 counters you have right?

I really like what you have done here, and look forward to seeing the finished product.
I am wondering how often you win with infect vs damage. I tend to find it counterproductive to run infect in a deck that is not devoted to it (like Blighty is). Is this ever a problem for you?

infinite summon combos, or infinite mana combos are fun. throw in a priest of urabrask. extra mana (priest+glitterfang+cloudstone curio)

Yeah thats basically what I'm doing Smile
My playgroup is really competitive anyway, and I already have a few fun decks, so I figured I would go crazy with the combos.

    I love the card!
All of my friends hate it when I play it (except the guy who runs reaper king), but I always get a kick out of it Smile
And if you play it online, then its totally fine because you dont have all the annoying shuffling haha.

    Morph Creatures!!
These are so broken with animar. When he has three counters, they are free! This may not seem like much, but throw in Cloudstone Curio or Tidespout Tyrant and suddenly we go crazy. With a certain Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre thrown in, we then get to destroy all permanents XD
Palinchron, Priest of Urabrask and Cloud of Faeries are all nutty, with the last two requiring some bouncer.
All the bounce creatures, a la Shrieking Drake and Man-o-War should be run as well IMHO.

The way I am building this deck is a very very strong combo deck. It just goes totally nutters, drawing my whole deck with Glimpse of Nature, making infinite mana off of Palinchron and the like or Earthcraft and otherwise just going crazy.
Im in love with the card, and it needs to be abused!!

Also, Wild Pair can get crazy with all the creatures being cast, Inexorable Tide is great and so on. There is just so much nutty stuff to do.

All that being said, I can not emphasize morph creatures enough. They go crazy with Animar.

  • posted a message on Animar, let's find some fun combos
    Every morph creature ever.
With three counters on Animar, you get to play the morph creatures for free. This results in some seriously insane shenanigans with the aforementioned Cloudstone Curio or Tidespout Tyrant.
There are also a ton of really powerful morph cards that can be run even if you cant bounce them or what not. Nantuko Vigilante for artifact/enchantment control, Dwarven Blastminer to get rid of pesky lands and so on.
I think that morph creatures will end up breaking animar.

Also Tooth and Nail gets silly in this deck. Cast it for Tidespout Tyrant and any Eldrazi, and if you have a morph creature and some counters on animar, you go infinite right there. MMmmm.... Morph is so great in this deck.

Also there are the obvious cards, Forgotten Ancient, Gilder Bairn, Inexorable Tide etc. I think Hoverguard Sweepers deserves a spot in this deck as well.

Thats about all I've got that hasnt been mentioned.
    Morph FTW!

Yeah I'm not a fan of Riku. He just doesnt do all that much for the mana that you have to pay! 5 mana is quite a bit for a general without any protection, and I guarantee he will be killed before you get much use out of him. Plus, to me it seems that you will usually just be tapping out for something cute (eg 1UUUG for the token and a bounce) while your opponents kick your butt with their board impacting cards.
I find Animar to be much better, the crazy shenanigans he enables (with morph cards, cloudstone curio, tidespout tyrant, glimpse of nature etc) just make him amazing.
Totally getting this deck because of him.

So do you guys think that Riku or Animar is the stronger general? What about the more fun one?
I think Animar is hands down the stronger one of the two. He enables some super crazy shenanigans with Cloudstone Curio and Tidespout Tyrant. Morph creatures can be cast for free, and then bounced back and forth, and dont even get me started on Glimpse of Nature.
Riku, on the other hand, only really enables crazy shenanigans if you already have a lot of mana (at which point you can do crazy stuff anyways). To be fair, I am always scared of using generals that cost more than four mana. To me, it just seems like you will tap out to do something crazy, and then get killed by everyone elses even bigger threats.

Edit: Dont forget that protection on Animar makes him that much harder to kill.

Why they put creatures with cycle in mirror mastery?
There are any way to copy the creatures with riku's skill when you cycle the creatures?

I dont think so, I think the reason that they did it is because early in the game you can cycle the creatures, and late in the game you can cast them for really cheap with Animar's ability. But thats just my guess. Its pretty stupid if you ask me, they could have done a lot more with those slots.

I agree with Tariel being pretty lame. Especially with the whole "random" factor, she feels supremely underpowered for her mana cost. I mean, you could very likely end up using her and just getting a sakura tribe elder. If they wanted to keep it random, I feel like she should have been cheaper.

Despite the fact that it doesnt have the best reprints, I am definitely getting the Mirror Mastery deck for Animar. That card is unbelievably bonkers, definitely the best new general.
Other then that Im probably going to get Heavenly Inferno, so that I can put all of those pretty foily angels and demons I have been collecting to good use Smile

Yeah I still think he is a really awesome card.
Im thinking of replacing a lot of the standard utility creatures with their morph equivalents. For example, running Nantuko Vigilante instead of something (or in addition to) like Indrik Stomphowler. The morph cards just go crazy with him, if I am correct (which Im may not be), with animar in play with 3 counters, you can cast morph cards for free right?
With a Cloudstone Curio and two morph creatures, you then go infinite storm and P/T really quickly right?

Hey, I have a question as to how Cloudstone Curio works. Can you return the creature that just entered the battlefield to your hand with it?
For example, if I cast Priest of Urabrask with a Cloudstone Curio in play, can I return the Priest of Urabrask to my hand and repeat? Thats the idea I'm getting from all of your posts, but that just seems bonkers!
