One match I got my opponent to conded when I started casting Crippling Chill with Buyback. I also got to play Sandblast withbuyback but unfortunatly my Grand Master got killed after the first time. Overall tough the lifelink for spells was the more important as I head double Sandblast along with double Cunning Strike.
I've enjoyed this weeks column quite a bit. Going for a mono-colored deck in the format of Shocklands was certainly a good move to keep it budget. Altough there is a good number of rares in the list they're rather cheap espescially compared to the prices of other Modern cards. I can't tell how good the deck is but it's unexpected for sure and looks fun to play.
You can decide to get your own tournament scene going
It might be rather hard to imagine but there are smaller countries in the world then the US. The largest event during this season was probably Nationals with about 100 players. If we get 20 people to attend our local FNM thats actually a lot.Even if there was someone like Starcity in Switzerland (there isn't) who would be able to run a tournament series like SCG Opens and most active tournament players woud attend,we still wouldn't have chance to compete in this system.
So my was to access in higher-level Tournaments were basicly winning a PTQ or winning Nationals. In the past years I put a lot of effort into trying to qualify for Nationals (which I did) and improving my performance there to get closer to my goal of playing at Worlds one time. The goal was hard to reach but there was a way I could go. Trying to improve my play to get there I went to FNM every week. I played NQs, GPTs and PTQs in my area and obviously spent quite some money to buy cards. I did everything that WotC now wants me to do. The problem? Now there is no such way for me to actually get there. I don't have a reason to play sanctioned Events. With the Nationals becoming meaningless I dont even need to play T2. No reason to buy new cards.
I'd say running Fetchlands in Mono-R isn't worth it. At GP Amstedam I saw plenty of Stifles, Maverick's running Aven Mindcensor and I dont see you getting too much advantage from running it.
Also On topic: Why are we getting an uncommon foil for the Gameday Top 8? Seriously, it's like everything is getting downgraded...We lost our Player rewards last year, and now the promos are getting downgraded?! MY lgs charges 5 bucks to play in the gameday... I want that promo to be at least worth SOMETHING ya know? make it worth the trip and the money...
No, this only happens if certain conditions are met. Read the cards. They don't automatically revert. Werewolves stay werewolves until someone plays two spells in a turn, humans stay human unless no spells are played in a turn. And if the spells you're playing are other werewolf flip cards, there'll always be an imbalance of some kind. It's just incredibly messy.
It's not since all the Werewolf cards have the same condition. So the first upkeep after the new Human/Werefwolf entered the battlefield it will be synchronised with the others. It works, try it.
Since I love boarding in 4 Pyroclasms against Aggro I play 4+3 Battlement. I'm playing the Australian RUG Twin tough. I guess for a Chapin-style list it's not aggressive enough.
Clones dont have a enter the battlefield effect which triggers when they etb but a replacement effect. They enter the battlefield already as the creature you choose to copy.
Thrun can be quite sick against UB Control. I had games where he killed players with hands full of counters and removal on its own, their only out being Black Suns Zenith or Grave Titan. I'm afraid he's not that good against Caw-Go though because of their Hawks with protection from green. Against Aggro he's solid but most of the time Obstinate Baloth is better there.
Anyway, I saw a Thrun-Rock-Deck making T8 at a National Qualifier recently. Thrun+Stoneforge can be realy good.
