i do have a question though, as far as i know phyrexian mana counts as 1 towards the cmc, when i analysed my cards, it read the phyrexian mana as 2. (dismember is a 5cmc card)
so there, maybe i'm wrong, i just wanted to clarify.
i think everything that can be said with this card more or less have been mentioned already. although there are a couple of people here who have the wrong idea with extirpate.
seriously guys, extirpate can be countered. countering a spell and responding to it are different things when the stack is concerned. (or i can be wrong, but that's really how i remember it)
im not sure if someone pointed this out already. ion't wanna read 20 pages of thread, but from i did read some. did anybody notice "until end of turn?" should that be "at the beginning of the end step"?
@rsg
-i was thinking of hurricane as a green Fireball?
-won't Omnath + Hydra team-up work? i mean, hydra won't be a dead card, no matter when you draw it, gets even powerful the later you get it. plus you can beef up Hydra to epicness when you get the right timing.
i wanna make a deck with these ideas in mind, i've made a list of cards that i'm thinking of using, although they don't really have to be in the final decklist.
Murkfiend Liege - untaps all your creatures for more mana for Omnath; for Hydra to block and get bigger; +1/+1; and other wonderful stuff you can do with untapped creatures
Hurricane, Protean Hydra, Ant Queen - after swinging with a bucketful of mana using Omnath, all the other mana goes to them.
i was about to ask the same thing. Sakiko from Kamigawa and Omnath says something about steps and phases, while upwelling notes phases and turns. does that mean our good 'ol Omnath becomes 1/1 at end of turn?
~~~
Omnath has two main powers that work in harmony together. First, it collects and harbors mana. It lets you break a fundamental rule of Magic, letting you pass from phase to phase and turn to turn without having your mana pool deplete itself. This allows you to build up a large supply of green mana across turns, which can get massive fast. Use this power to grow your mana pool to some gigantic target number—say, the mana cost of a kicked Gigantiform, a Darksteel Colossus, or a monumentally polycephalic Protean Hydra. (Another powerful option is to cast a spell with the new ability multikicker—Joraga Warcaller is a great example—but you'll see more of these as Worldwake previews continue.)
VV's older brother saying hello
am i the only one who's thinking of a cycle of rare, W/U/B/R/G to level of levelers? (sorry i didn't read the whole thread)
glad that WOTC's going beyond "build loyalty -> use ultimate" path for PWs
new elf doesn't compete with llanowar/arbor when it comes to getting that leatherback out as early as possible though :|
-canopy cover won't cut it?
Llanowar elves, Greenweaver druid, Utopia Sprawl, Noble Hierarch - major mana sources.
Murkfiend Liege - untaps all your creatures for more mana for Omnath; for Hydra to block and get bigger; +1/+1; and other wonderful stuff you can do with untapped creatures
Hurricane, Protean Hydra, Ant Queen - after swinging with a bucketful of mana using Omnath, all the other mana goes to them.
Primalcrux, Protean Hydra, Omnath, Locus of Mana, Ant Queen, Oversoul of Dusk - major beaters, relatively easy to cast (or beef up in Hydra's case) with all your accel and mana storage
Tarmogoyf, Leatherback Baloth, Troll Ascetic, Great Sable Stag - early, midgame board presence
Canopy Cover - trollshroud, and +1 to primalcrux, A+ in my book.
Evolution Charm - never a dead card, always useful.
Naturalize - well, just to be sure
Garruk Wildspeaker - mana and blockers. 'nough said.
Quest for Renewal - cheap liege substitute
