Love the art on the mimic. Hope a foil doesnt come in to high on the price scale.

Not to piss you, but if you play R/B I think it is better to go full-on aggro anyways.
Black has enought fine discard and removal, and the disadvantages from splashing Red (CIPT lands, less Swamps for Tendrils/Sludge/Gatekeeper...) are greater than the 3 damage on Blightning versus Mind Rot.

I also think that 1-ofs (if not tutorable obviously) are always "wasted" spots. 2-3 Sorins or Lilianas are worth a thought, though.

I agree black has nice removal but most are sac effects and the new green creature is going to find her way into sideboards everywhere once MBC makes a strong showing. I also like the terminates for instant removal against almost anything (Nocturnus is a big target). But Ill leave this thread until I decide to play Mono Black with no splash.

@ danthemangum: monoblack is monoblack. terminate and blightning make this a different deck. move on and post a new thread if u want...

And obviously this makes the discussion of Sorin and Drana taboo as well then? Just saying...
Edit: and the subject of splashing was brought up earlier in the thred (even by the op) so I thought it was decently relatable.

I'm playing B/r post Eldrazi. I can't reliably run sludges/tendrils but I don't miss them much with terminate, blightning and the manlands. I'm going to do some more extensive testing here before long and see how it all goes. I would post a list but my phone would make it take forever. Ill edit with it later. Also I was wonderings peoples feelings on Drana and Sorin. Is Sorin a wasted spot (1 of) and Drana just a win more?

Not that great. If you miss with the reveal its just a 2/2 for three which is horrible. Also, sometimes your going to get the creature and want the accel, and others your going to want a 5/5 and get the land. Random cards usaully arent that great. Magic is all about consistancy and card advantage.

Except Green/Blue will have ways to set their decks for turns to come. And when they run out of creatures to put on top they draw and then use Jace/Ponder/Depths to go looking for what they need. Green is gonna be great in this set.

Emrakul is potentially very playable in reanimator. Annhilator 6, flying, and protection from colored spells is quite a package.

Also, Oath of Druids. Unlike Kozilek, this one is totally worthwhile to cheat into play.

You cant reanimate him can you? Thanks to his last clause. You'll have to summoning trap him. At least thats how I'm reading it.

I remember having a terrible green deck that had Force of Nature and Whirling Dervish. I also ran a mono white deck with Swords to Plowshares, Karma, and Personal Incarnation. I didnt start learning how to play competitive decks until I picked up some city of brass (I started playing at the beginning but I had no money to buy anything).

Check out that deck. If the link doesn't work google bazaar trader deck and its the first link. Fun deck and can be competitive (I guess - I haven't tried it).

Watched matches for the first time. Can't wait for the semis. Some pretty intensive turns toward the end of most of LSV games. Love the plays of that WW deck.

I love that U/W control made a showing (with chalices!). I'm surprised by how little people expected mystic though.

I did terrible. Only had 5 people cause we got 6+ inches of snow. One guy opens Jace... guy next to him cracks a foil Jace. Pulled a Tar Pits and Celestial Collonade. Did a draft afterward and pulled Highborn, and the sacing vamp. Traded for my 3rd bloodghast. Good day for all it seemed :).
