With my Kozilek deck, I dont think i ever won by my opponents not scooping. Even if i dont swing lethal at them, Annihilator is the nail in the coffin. Once during a 5 man game, one of my opponents popped a O-stone on the end step before my turn, after which i flash in a Blightsteel (winding Canyons FTW), and then preceed to windmill slam a winter orb on my main phase, as the other 4 players were tapped out. Yeah they scooped all right lol.

!) Where is the Deadeye Navigator, he practically makes Vig broken, especially with...
    2) Palinchron!!! Infinite mana = infinite ETB triggers plus wincon of acidic slime or....
    3) Venser, Shaper Savant, not only can it stop spells, but bouncing every permanent then proceeding to counter whatever your opponents play is usually GG.
    4) Draining Whelk, imo, always costed too much. Run Mystic Snake instead.
    5) Aluren and Cloudstone Curio along with Tidespout Tyrant and Man o' War can lead to a healthy dose of etb shenanigans.
    5) I believe Magus of the Future is better than Garruk's Horde, simply because a) its cheaper (more blue though) and b) you can cast any card, not just creatures.
    6) Consecrated Sphinx makes your opponents cry and hate you with a fiery passion
    7) Triumph of the Hordes is less conditional than Overwhelming Stampede, and 10 poison WILL kill anyone, regardless of their life.

What makes my suggestions credible? Momir Vig was the first EDH deck I built 2 years ago and I still continue to use and improve it. Started out as a ETB-goodstuff beatdown deck, but you soon realize in multiplayer that having your commander be a Worldly tutor & cantrip makes it VERY EASY to look for toolbox answers and then proceed to a win condition.

Ill post my decklist tomorrow if you would like, its late here and I have no idea where my deck is Frown

Just let me know or PM me.

  • posted a message on Kruphix, God of Horizons - To Infinity and Beyond!
I've recently converted my Momir Vig deck to Kruphix for the time being to give it a shot. One of my friends runs a very high powered Omnath deck and I like the thought of a U/G "Omnath"

    Pros (compared to Vig)
+ Less hate (more of a durdle/card advantage deck until you have the win within reach)
+ Less fragile General and Deck
+ Ability to run flashy and high-impact spells (Good stuff)

    Cons
    - Kruphix is an enabler rather than a "means to an end"
    - Has to spend the early game establishing infrastructure before receiving noticeable benefits.

I dont have the decklist on me (in class ATM) but essentially my main Wincon is casting a Tooth and Nail for Palichron and Eternal Witness then recasting T&N for Vorinclex/Deadeye Navigator. This allows me to cast T&N as many times as I need to win.

Backup plan is to establish some sort of lock on the board:
Seedborn Muse/Prophet of Kruphix + Capsize
    Seedborn/Prophet + Deadeye + Mystic Snake/Venser/Acidic Slime.

Basically abuse the untapping effects to either kill/bounce/counter everything until opponents concede due to lack of board while you save the mana for a huge BSZ/Stroke of Genius to refill your hand and continue the lock.

Ramp effects/artifacts are a must for turns 1-4 in order to get Kruphix out and start making use of the mana.

    Cough orzhov charm cough

Seriously, mill the summoner in Junk Rites, then use charm to get 10 power? Seems legit to me.

Seriously this deck is nuts. I was considering going the mono black vampire midrange deck that won a few dailys a week ago, but in light of new cards i think going WBR is better.

Im playing Stromkirk Captain, Vampire Nocturnus, and Bloodline Keeper to act as, basically, 10 "lords". Going turn 2 Tithe, into Captain (swing 3 firststrick/lifelink) then play a nocturnus is pretty nutty.

    Prophetic Prism is alright.
oh, and Pithing Needle is also a good option.
    Runechanter's Pike is ok.

It's possible to fit the card in but would require a complete rework of the deck I think.

Honestly I feel Desecration Demon and Vampire Nighthawk are both better choices, simply because they don't restrict your deckbuilding.

There is also Elixir of Immortality, in which gaining that 5 life helps stabilize the board sometimes.

Scroll of Avacyn can replace itself by sacing although that will kill the lich (I miss the wellsprings T.T)

Scroll of Griselbrand is a bolt in the late game, providing you have a demon out which should be hard.

The various rings and keyrunes can also work.

Hopefully Dragon's Maze will bring a few more goodies, but I cant help but feel like an indestructable 5/5 for BBB is the stone cold nuts.

As for desecration demon and nighthawk, while both good and above the curve in their own right, are just to fragile for the mete. The demon can be tapped down for a creature, and considering most aggro decks use burning tree emissary as a free creature, dont mind sacing to hit you in the face. Nighthawk on the other hand is to vulnerable to burn.

Phylactery Lich is a card ive been messing around with it a more artifact heavy list. It more resilient then nighthawk, and is 5/5 to boot. Im in class right now so ill post my decklist later but seriously this card is severely underestimated.

Why bother with a 1/1 that may get to swing for 3 if, and only if, there are two additional creatures with it. Granted, Gather the Townsfolk sets it up nicely on turn 3; however those tokens have to stay alive.

champion of the parish is by far more superior then the Elite, becoming a permanent 3/3 after gathering the townsfolk. Not only that, but every creature card almost thereafter is going to make him bigger.

Replace the Wurms with Craterhoof Behemoth, since ramping up to that lets you swing with all your mana dorks and does something the turn you play it.

I really, REALLY, like this deck.

My idea was a Junk deck that used Unburial Rites as a supporting agent to constantly get value from Thragtusk and so forth, but Seance does that plus more, EVERY TURN.

Ive been testing it out with Tracker's Instinct, as ive been looking for more dig. Its great! It gets you a creature into your hand and some into your yard, because their are those times when you need the actually card.

What about Elvish Visionary? It blocks early, serves as a good 2 drop (assuming you dont want to run farseek), nets you are card, and can be blinked with Resto Angel if their are no other valid targets.

Also my idea was a Rites deck running the same creatures, but using Unburial Rites as a SUPPORT engine, meaning that yes, if I accelerate a creature great, but it offers recursion for our creatures.

Thragtusk dies? Rites it for 5 mana from hand (same as Thragy), and you can do it again later.

  • posted a message on [Deck] Junkrites
I've been interested in doing something similar after rotation. My current deck right now is Junk-walkers and as much as I would love to keep that deck going, the absence of a 4 mana board sweeper (Day of Judgment and solid finishers have got me leaning to Junkrites.

However, I do believe we shouldnt rely on Unburial Rites to cheat our fatties into play, but if it happens it happens. Rites its also could because if even played from your hand, a single card brings back up to two creatures.

My idea so far is running things like Restoration Angel, thragtusk, and armada wurm (seriously this card is nuts) as a beatdown deck, abusing ETB effects, reusing them with Rites, or cheating them into play (only with thragtusk and up)

Griselbrand and Angel of Serenity could be could targets, but no more than 1-2 in 75.

Now I know everyone says their is a lot of graveyard hate, but we are relying on the graveyard, we are utilizing it as support. Even if they do exile your graveyard, you can still win with Angels, thrags, and wurms.

Another thing is have a transformational sideboard. Hopefully you can win round 1, and when they do board in their GY hate, side out the big angel, Griselbrand, and maybe a few rites or liliana's and bring in more meat. That 3 mana 3/3 that gains you life when it etb would be tech for zombies and aggro.

I will post a list later tonight (Torchlight 2 is ADDICTING) but I do believe this will be a viable deck as long as we don't solely rely on Unburial Rites.
