So I have gyre sage and anafenza, kin-tree spirit out. I put in a 1/1 token. Can I choose to bolster first so thathat so that my gyre sage evolves? Or is it too late?

I suggest Warping wail. A overloaded vandal blast will freaking suck. Same goes for a resolved tooth and nail, wrath and generally any other sorcery. It can also snipe utility creatures as well like baby Jace or death rite shaman. At worse it is a body for an equipment or that last bit of mana ramp for the following turn.

All I'm lookin at is a budget platinum angel

    Budget seriously

It's not going to rescue you from

    Mill

    Infect

    commander points

And opponents using alt winning cards.

Mill isn't that common, playing this versus infect is about equal as her platinum cousin, and commander points you're right about. Except this isn't an artifact and susceptible to 2 different types of removals spread out across the 4 removal colors.

You can be drowning in 40 infect counters and you can still be alive with a platinum angel. With this one, you will die from each reset. The same with commander points and mill. It is too bad demonic PaCT is gone, would have been funny to reset yourself with that.

Wonder if you can do something with the self exiting dwarf. If you have two Aetherstorm Roc you get infinite leave triggers. Have a third bird or panharomicon and you get infinite energy.

They could also be responding to the fact that many players viewed Conspiracy 2 as a "better Eternal Masters set than Eternal Masters." I love that this introduces more copies of these cards into the market, which will continue to drop prices. Because let's face it, outside of a handful of chase cards, the value of the set was extremely mediocre as is. Helping to drive down singles prices is the best thing they can do right now.

Also limited print run, packs costing +$10 bux, LGS holding it only for draft and withholding product. That design is seriously flawed while Consipracy 2 was regular print run and regular priced with BOMB cards. Yeah EMA is the bigger loser and lots of people loved Conspiracy 2, because you can take a dud rare like Hundred-Handed One to the face vs blowing $10 on a pack to get Serendib Efreet.

BUT OMG IN LIMITED SERENDI..... *Batman Slap* SHUT UP! You can't tell me you feel great opening that up when the dude next door opens up a Force of Will. Guy doesn't even have to win the draft.

I'm planning to squeeze this card into my Cromat enchantments deck, which runs both Abundance and Replenish.

Also in colors Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar gives you INSANE card selection if you have a decent sized hand. You basically pick out whatever you want and don't discard.

If you stay with the 2 power theme Bower Passage / Dense Canopy gives you near unblockable damage with Sidar out. I say near because there might be some random dude with Reach like World Breaker but reach isn't seen too much.

hmmm Possessed Portal with some way to break the effect like Abundance can be quite funny to Stax them out. Samething with stuff like Uba Mask, Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar, Horn of Greed. Also might be easy to get an active Archmage Ascension because your general guarantees an extra draw. Maybe even dumbstuff like Parallel Thoughts can be worth while in that type of shell.

Some random jank like donating Impending Disaster while having Sacred Ground can be funny as hell when you are giving people lands.
They don't work with Archmage ascension. Both abilities trigger on endstep, and ascension will not trigger if you haven't already drawn 2 cards by then. Also uba mask seems bad with them unless you have just a ton of instants since it sorta negates your draw usually.

Yeah you are right about the Ascension and Uba Mask. Was just trying to deny them draw.

I would rather have Copy Enchantment than Heartstone. More uses and can just copy Training Grounds. If you can't afford Amulet of Vigor you can use Stone-Seeder Hierophant which will untap all your tapped lands for you.

Am I missing something? This seems incredibly broken for only four mana.

Your opponent plays an Ashen Rider, and you get a free Ashen Rider trigger. You also can keep the token to block with, at least until an opponent plays a different creature. Your opponent plays a Void Winnower, and you get to mirror the effect against them. Your opponent plays a Farhaven Elf, you get a free Rampant Growth in blue.

This seems like a card that basically every blue deck has the play (similar to Cyclonic Rift).

    Is this a joke?

You don't get Void Winnower's effect because it's on cast. Also, the ability balances out because your opponents control what you are cloning. You may have a Baneslayer Angel one turn and a semi-useless creature the next turn.
I'll admit it's really hard to think of something that's going to be completely useless in Commander especially since you can use it to chump block and then it recreates itself. I'm personally putting it in my flicker deck to exploit by flickering their creatures.

Void Winnower is static, it doesn't have a cast trigger. They were referring to making your opponent not being able to even.

Anyway, fascinating little dude here. It's like Ophiomancer pushed to the extreme. And like ophiomancer it'll excel with a sac outlet. (Hello, Breya!)

For people asking why the partner generals don't have abilities this interesting/intricate; it's because they need to be simple for three reasons:
    1) The effects are simple so they plug and play better with eachother. If you get too fancy with the effects you narrow the card too much and it combines well with less other partners. Simple is much more modular.
    2) Wizards has been conservative with the partners, with good reason. They new people would be skeptical of power level and needed to preempt that by toning the effects down.
    3) Partner alone adds enough complexity to the card as a commander that a complex effect on top of that makes it harder to keep track of. Other players at the table needing to bear in mind two complicated commanders at your disposal is a lot more, but if it's two straightforward effects it's much easier to internalize.

You could put something like this on a legendary and it will be fine. For example this card could have been the U/W legendary Taigam. Wizards played with partners WAY too safe. We got a weaker Glissa in the UB legendary, both Boros legendaries are CRAP no matter how you spin it (Both allies but neither care about allies or at least have Rally), a gruul token generator that needs to hit to make tokens when you have Ulasht, the Hate Seed or the superior Marath, Will of the Wild, the UW legendary Taurean Mauler. The only partner generals that are not too bad is Ludevic's zombie, Kruphix's Wizard, and Vial Smasher. They actually may be strong enough on their own but it is unfortunate that they got crappy partners to work.

  • posted a message on Mothership spoilers 10/26 Ludevic, Kyanios and Tiro and more
Kyanois and Tiro Meletis: I am not a fan of group hug. I was kinda hoping these two would be like Zedruu. Yes it may be group hug under disguise but there is something more sinister hiding in the deck. I don't see how this card can help you win. The opponent will ramp before you or get more cards. Yes I know for pure group hug with no win con, people won't care about this... but I don't mind some group hug stuff as long as the controller has an out to win. Just accelerating everyone and whoever has the better tuned deck/takes advantage of group hug tactics will win. Art wise? Great stuff with lots of details. Hand caressing the other king, the statues in the background, holding his partner's helmet etc. If anything I wished it was at the "Upkeep" so that you would get the ramp/draw first. Also setup some pillowfort stuff like Solitary Confinement a bit easier.

Ludevic: Wizards... you had YEARS to come up with something. The same goes for the Legendary Werewolf and the Legendary Spider (granted Ishkanah, Grafwidow sees play in Standard but a Legendary Spider was largely asked by the EDH community). Look at all of Ludevic's flavor is in his cards. They all had some sort of Frankenstein stitching. Among the blue zombie making cards was a little bit different than your standard necromancy, I really wanted to see what Ludevic would do as an actual card. This is far and beyond not what I expected. He is a worse Edric. Also I believe the way that it's worded, someone can attack you with a 20/20 trampler and hit another opponent with a 1/1 flyer... the person still gets to draw. So as long as the opponent can smack someone else in the process, they can draw a card. Tapping with a painland, shocking yourself, or taking damage from a mana vault... an opponent draws a card! There is nothing "mad scientist" about this. I would have hoped at LEAST he be some sort of UG legendary instead of the Null-White general (which would have been ideal).

For the most part the partners are really bad minus Modular Queen (Reylah) and Draw for Mana (Kruphix). It's really hard to justify to partner up with a weak dude. I think the partner stuff is a big cop out to not balance one or two more 4 color legendaries. It wasn't really a "mind blowing" thing. This concept has been toyed around by the EDH community for years with time shifted characters. For example: both Sygg, River Cutthroat / Sygg, River Guide to get Esper merfolk (You would cast either or the other but never have both out), or both Kamhals, Mirris, Crovax etc.
