This is Alfred (I used to run the tournament with Legend/eap). Really glad you decided to pick it up again! Good decklists for the new sets as well.
If you need someone to help you with the writing, or the matches, let me know. Also, Fated Conflagration can't deal damage to your opponent's face (not really important anyway, considering BotG lost).
I'm curious if anyone on this forum knows the answer to some basic questions about the Magic business.
- How much does WotC pay the printer to make one Magic card? (mean)
- What is the size of WotC (to estimate operating expenses), and what is the total revenue of the WotC subsidiary?
Hello there Unfortunately, I have no idea. I did not personally know any of the organizers of the old battle of the sets.
I'll try my best to make this an entertaining event, though. You're welcome to join and follow
Legend would know. Is he on this board?
BotS requires some work, not just in playing the matches, but also in refining decks, rebuilding consistently bad ones, and making decks for new sets. I recall we had a long discussion about rebuilding Odyssey many years ago.
This article is not objective at all. Magic has lost a ton of players because of these changes and they are having a hard time keeping the ones they have. The game hasn't died yet, and it may yet live for a long time, but soon this game and its community will be unrecognizable to those who played it during the golden years. Your point about players whining and complaining is obvious - we have all seen it for years. But the game is changing, quite dramatically, and a lot of people don't like it enough to stop spending money on it.
And the 8th edition card frames still look terrible. I think that part of your article is just absurd. We have to live with these new frames but that doesn't make them any less riduclous. The old ones are elegant, respectable, and are permanently associated with golden years of Magic. If a redesign was necessary, making them look incredibly ugly wasnt.
Glad to see you return in this thread.

May I ask where Alfred is?
There was a special tournament organized in 97 or 98 using Vanguard.
I remember reading the decklists online ten or so years ago, but I cannot find them anymore.
The avatars turned out to be very unbalanced.
Does anyone know where these decks are listed online, or in a magazine?

Wizards marketing is run by awful people.
There is some magic in High Point, near there, and Raleigh, a little farther away.
Attack with 3/3 dragon, move to damage.
First strike damage resolves, three damage, +2 counters on Jitte.
Before normal damage, pump dragon to 7/7.
Normal damage resolves, seven damage, +2 counters on Jitte.
Thats a total of 10 damage, and you still end up with 2 counters more than you started with, without paying for any abilities.
