Drink every time someone b*tches about being attacked for 2 when they're at 40.

Maybe it should involve Humility + Night of Soul's Betrayal + Dovescape?

  • posted a message on Telling me how to play MY deck?
If you play against me, please, for the love of all that you may consider holy, tell me when I make a mistake. Countless philosophers have said that one learns more from mistakes than from triumphs, and that it's easier for a third party to comprehend a mistake than the one committing it in the first place.

So long as they're trying to help, there's no need to get defensive about it. So what? You made a mistake, accept it, thank them for helping, and LEARN from it.(Note that I said if they were trying to help. If they're obviously mocking you in a hostile way, it's different.)

Which is better, making a mistake, having it be corrected, and then not doing it again, or making a mistake, having it not be corrected, and then going on thinking you made the best mistake? Generally, the ones who choose the latter are the ones who complain about "cheap decks," "netdecking," and "luck," when it's actually their own fault for making myriad massive mistakes(alliteration ftw).

This is the best post of this thread. There's one gentleman that pops by every once in a while with an absolutely terrible deck. He's very stubborn, and can't take constructive advice. When he loses he gets very angry, and uses the excuse that his decks aren't "netdecks". That statement really grinds my gears. Not "netdecking" isn't an excuse for being bad. On the flipside, two new guys at our store have been showing up every friday for the last 4-5 weeks. One of them plays a myr deck, the other a 90-card vampire deck. I helped the vampire guy cut his list down to 60, EXPLAINED why cards such as Kalitas don't work too well in an aggro deck, and even gave him some cards he needed. He graciously accepted my advice, and went to go play some more magic. The other guy (myr), his deck was basically a pile of draft commons. We helped him put together a deck that creates infinite mana with mry galvanizers and fireballs the opponent to death. As long as advice is given tactfully, there should be no problems. Some people just take it the wrong way. The problem I see when seasoned players try to help out newbies is that when going through their prized first deck, they pull things like razorfield thresher out and say "this card sucks". That's fine, but if the kid likes the card, he's going to just throw it back in. You need to EXPLAIN WHY it's a suboptimal card. That's what will help them make better choices in the long run. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll be fed for life

I've tested both and have had a lot of success with Galvanic Blast. It's really easy to get metalcraft with this deck, and Blast kills a Mystic carrying a sword.

A card that's been working really well for me in my B/G Nath deck is Scapeshift. Its one of my main tutor targets early game, as I can usually Scapeshift into Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Overgrown Tomb, and Maze of Ith or Boseiju. This allows for subsequent insane turns, as well as tossing lands into your grave yard for later.

Just wanted to share that with everybody.

    That is all.

Anyone else tried a new card that they found worked amazing in their deck?

#1: People on online forums who overuse the word "Douche" or "Douchey" when they refer to EDH. Seriously people, find a different word. It makes you look so childish.

#2: Getting ganged up on early in a 3 or 4 player game when you aren't a threat. I would understand it if I had and insane board position or spent the last 5 turns casting tutors and counterspells, but just out of spite? Come on.

#3: People that can't deal with being attacked for 2 early game. I cast my Solemn Simulacrum. Next turn, beat on you for 2. Really? Are you actually complaining and whining about 2 damage? I would understand if you were being whaled on with huge guys by everyone (see #2), but you aren't. Get over it.

#4: Poorly-made proxies. I don't mind if you have a couple proxies because the cards are in other decks or whatever. Just make it so I can read them from across the table. When I proxy a card, usually I write on the back of a card with a sharpie, and for cards I want to play with but just cannot find anywhere*, I usually glue white paper onto a card, write the full card text, mana cost, P/T, and even sometimes draw a picture. I don't like it when someone shows up week after week with a deck full of pencil-on-card proxies of expensive cards they have no intention of buying or trading for.

*I seriously could not find ANYONE who had a Memnarch for like a month, so I drew my own :p

How do I put cards on top of my library without revealing them to my opponent? Whenever I brainstorm with jace, it says "Adam put Plains on top of library", etc.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • posted a message on Mistbind Clique vs Terminate
I have a Terminate in my hand, and my opponent flashes in Mistbind Clique during my upkeep, championing his Bitterblossom. I can Terminate the Mistbind Clique, and my lands will not get tapped down.

My question is, how exactly does this work? I want to be able to cast Terminate at the right time, and to be able to explain to my opponent how this interaction works. Thanks!
