So a splashable Vraska's Contempt that trades the 2 life gain for a filter, not bad?
The Dryad is so good. Splashable as well, an enchantment for those shenanigans and an extra land drop on top of mana selection?
Might drop Courser of Kruphix from my Pioneer decks for this thing.

Hey it's close to Necrosavant but easier to bring back and with upside, neat.
May want a few copies for my Pioneer Dredge.

Isn't there a white aura that returns the creature to the battlefield when it dies? Or is is Golgari?
Just sac this, bring back the Aura, sac again, repeat...could be casual ok.
Art is pretty ok? I'm a fan of going off the rails a bit now and then, and this is doing so in spades.

Worst case it crushes a few Arboreal Grazer or some Ebon Hands before coming in for a few.
The best part if it turns all your junk into more gas mid-game, where a 12/12 is much, much harder to get rid of in combat.
Escape seems neat overall, it basically puts a little pain on removal, forcing you to have more on-board options.

This seems too slow for a lot of Standard decks. Your aggro GR decks want the game over by turn 4-6. Doom Foretold decks won't have a ton of Devotion on the table. UW control taking turn 4 off to get maybe UW, or UUUW if they have Teferi and Brazen Borrower?
This card seems like it will strain Pioneer, maybe and it's another absurd rock for Commander, where it's trivial to build competitive-minded decks.

Good cards both, loving how open-ended this stuff is.

This is actually fairly saucy in Sultai Dredge for Pioneer, I think. It lets you dump Narcomoebas and Amalgams and gain a little life/card selection for your next turn. It might not be markedly better than current options, but it's got interesting build-around potential.
Will snag 2-3 of these for sure.

Thoughtseize is fine. 2 life is a lot, and 4 life if you need to play it off a shock is huge.
The variable nature of your opponent's hand might mean you get a planeswalker, or it could be a graveyard enabling dork, which might help them as well.
Getting rid of TS will just let low-to-the-ground critter builds and other decks build up that much quicker. Get your arclights in grave faster, play your 3feri with impunity, drop your Rest in Peace and have at it.
You also need to make decisions with the card, it's not an auto-gimme. I remember when it was in Standard, I should have taken the monstrous Dragon (the one that sudden impacts on you) but instead I took a lower-curve thread, that was game.

Pioneer seems good now. I traded my Oko set for more staples and I'll be able to build a few fun decks like Golgari dredgeless and Sultai grindy control.
And hey, the dredgeless doesn't play Thoughtseize because Sticher's Supplier is vastly better, and I only run 1-2 TS in Sultai b/c I can't afford to lose more than 4 life to remove a threat.

Owl watermark is horrible, but I guess if I get a Judge Sylvan Tutor I can trade it for a non-foil Portal Sylvan Tutor. Actually, you can probably swap all of these for other versions, so it's kind of a wash.

This is the kind of card I love. A more affordable (and tweaked) version of Splendid Genesis?

Passing on these, waiting for a Pioneer Masters or something of the sort, hoping that we get Thoughtseize in the new Theros.

Wizards is so caught up in the planeswalker modelling and iterating that they don't see how ugly these things are, and this is speaking as someone who gladly windmilled Oko, Liliana and others. They really need to add loyalty removal to spells, ETB effects or attack triggers before more stuff gets out of hand.
I mean, Theros is coming back and allegedly you can re-cast the planswalker?

I'm building Pioneer Sultai so at least I did not lose much from that point of view. Here's hoping my Oko and OuaT stay legal there.

Of note:

No shocklands, no fetchlands, no Liliana, the Last Hope, no Jace. Vry's Prodigy, no Liliana of the Veil, no Tarmogoyf, no Oko, no Nexus of Fate (??, this needs a reprint people!) and not a lot of meat for Pioneer so far. Also no Underground Sea, so they didn't add a Revised Sheet. Would need to parse it but I'm likekly giving this a wide pass and I hope it goes unsold in vast quantities so we can get a Pioneer Masters instead next year.
