Yeah, the real issue involves stealing it from someone's deck. It tends to turn Bribery into too much of a gamechanging piece. The game easily centralizes around it if it's NOT in the command zone. If it is, everyone will focus fire on the Emrakul player until either Emrakul lands and wins, or Emrakul is dead. The 5 mana jump from Kozilek is a big deal, to boot.
But in decks...I fear it'd give Green decks yet another boost as a lot of games would go into "Who can race Emrakul out first" followed by "Who can abuse Emrakul most". So...yeah, rather not. And I'm all for making unbans, I just don't think Emrakul is the one we should unban.

There was a short time where Channel, Rofellos AND Emrakul were all live. I could basically ever only play black for Edict effects or I would lose in the first few turns. Emrakul won't be crazy as a commander, but she will get searched out by Green, bribed by Blue and the game will be super unfun. People (around here) already dislike losing four permanents to Ulamog/Kozileg, Emrakul will more than likely turn into "You lose/go to 2-3 permanents, now you..." I do not really see any benefit in removing her from the banned list.

I like it as well. It won't stop me from playing lands in Commander, because I enjoy giving value to opponents and while I like winning, winning when my opponents have had near-insurmountable advantages is so, so, so much better. Don't have a Dimir deck at the moment, but would add immediately if so. More fair than Consecrated Sphinx and exiles cards too, which is sweet. What's not to love? Smile

Never mind, what I saw as a figure was a rock outcropping. Bleh.
Well, it has fire and hedrons I guess, like the art overall.

Cool thing to note about Bring to Light: By my reading, it doesn't require you to cast the tutored spell immediately. If the opponent backs off on the pressure, the Bring to Light player can find a Ruinous Path or Planar Outburst to just hold on to for free casting as needed.

Doesn't it just get a card that costs two? Ooooooooooooooooh it you spent WBGU you get something better.
    NICE! OMG
Much better than I thought then!

It's me wagging a finger at the camera (doesn't show well). I use the same handle on Facebook (with my real name) so nothing to hide I guess.

I also run Hall of Gemstone, but they can respond to the gemstone trigger with a Cyclonic Rift

That's fine. It's done on upkeep then and you can just replay your crap during your mainphase, where you can replay the Hall, which will hamper them if they are playing multi-color. It's not a perfect solution of course, but it can help.

I'm curious as to what makes some of the fast mana cards like Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, etc. considered not too powerful for this format?

It strikes me analogous to the Deathrite Shaman ban in Modern: not so much targeted at one deck as much as the fact that any deck that could use it, did. I definitely feel the format would be more diverse without them, though I'm not averse to fast mana per se, I feel that the distance between these and, say, cards like Mox Opal and Chrome Mox is considerable.

Look at the pre-cons Sol Ring is included in. A few tapduals, some ramp, a few fatties and removal spells. No problem there. Rememeber that it's meant to be a kitchen-table, casual format. Mana Crypt is overkill there and Sol Ring is still strong but not super silly. You can make it break things, of course, but that's up to you.

I had two of them and traded them. They were overkill for a lot of decks and I've found most of my CMDR decks are greedy for colored mana, and this wasn't helpful over something like Mox Diamond or Lotus Petal. Still super busted though, wouldn't blink an eye if it was banned eventually.

Anyone have any ideas how to help when playing Green/Creature based decks against this card? Haste seems like the most probable way to try and come back from the damage this card has in a game. How do you guys deal with Cyclonic Rift? Help is very much appreciated.

Yeva, Nature's Herald. Or I run Hall of Gemstone so they get green mana on my turn. Or Choke. Or Jester's Cap to exile that and two other obnoxious cards.

I think the Innistrad checklands are much more likely than the Fetches. They are a little high for no reason.
there's literally zero reason not to print both, since mana fixing in enemy colors is fairly non-existent. There'll only be around 6 dual colored lands per deck, command tower, opal palace, and then random filler such as the vivids, rupture spire, ect.

I see a lot of basics in each deck just because there aren't that many non-rare enemy duals. I could also see some of the less powerful lands being printed as uncommons here, the filters for example aren't really played in anything and aren't particularly good.

Except they've never reprinted the "real" fetchlands. We'll see stuff like Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse and maybe the Mirage tap-fetches but not the ONS-ZEN ones. They want these to be "budget" so they can be a starter product into Commander. Putting cards that are needed for Modern or Legacy in there defeats the purpose and inflates prices.

As much as I want him to never appear in EDH, I don't think he's strong enough to be banned. It takes a long time to win the game with him, 4-5 swings per player, and he's not really that difficult to get rid of short of you giving him shroud or hexproof (which is also not that difficult to answer). And especially since his exile 2 ability is on cast and not etb, he probably won't get banned. There are far worse cards in the format right now.

Well, if you craft around him it could be 1.5 swings. Ability + Strionic Resonator = 40 cards, copy Strionic's activation with Rings of Brighthearth = 60 cards. That is still pretty clunky but I'd prefer losing four permanents than 20 cards (albeit as random as they are at the time of exile).

I know you didn't want Zedruu as your commander but my Zedruu is pretty game-ending, while being political. Just as an example, last Saturday I started with Mantis Riders (attack Kalia), Lightning Angel (attack The Mimeoplasm for 6) then to allay their aggression I started handing them lands to help them out (Kalia was pretty mana-hosed, lands-wise) and so on. I eventually did win because Magmatic Force x 2 does that, but not before helping everyone at the table by handing out Solemn Simulacrum, Sacred Mesa and so on. But yeah my Zedruu deck has a lot of damage or damage redirection as well.

It's more or less a "You did this to yourself...after I handed you a nuclear weapon."

No, but mostly because my only blue commander was Rayne, Academy Chancellor and people leave me alone for fear of making me draw multiple cards a turn. Grin

Going to have to echo Repercussion. I had it in my "Jhoira of the Weatherlight" deck before it became a monstrous abomination and it was great. I paired it with Shard Phoenix for more old school goodness. 2 to everything, then back to you? Ha!

In my current Zedruu build I am using Warleader's Helix and Lightning Helix and they add up surprisingly quickly. Magmatic Force? Oh lawd so much damage...three damage during each upkeep? To any target? Once I dropped a Vesuvan Doppelganger to copy it things just got completely out of control. EEK!

Edit. Just now saw monored so ignore Boros cards obviously, but Magmatic Force, Insurrection, Valakut, even Hammer of Bogardan is "okay".
