EDITED: after play testing
New game object: Finish Line. The finish line is an object on the battlefield, it cannot be affected by anything other than combat damage dealt by vehicles.
Vehicles attack the Finish Line.
During combat, for each of the active player's Vehicles that deals combat damage to the Finish Line that player acquires a Lap emblem*. The first player to acquire ten Lap emblems wins.
During combat any player may block Vehicles attempting to attack the Finish Line.
If an attacking creature ceases to be a Vehicle before combat damage is dealt, its controller will not earn a Lap emblem.
Creatures cannot attack players, creatures can still attack Planeswalkers.
The only way a player can win is by acquiring 10 Lap counters. If a game-state or effect** would have a player lose the game, that player continues in the game instead. If a game-state or effect** would have a player win the game, nothing happens and the game continues.
My way of trying to capture the flavor of vehicles, appreciate thoughts, comments, or critiques.
*I started out using Lap counters however, with cards like Solemnity out there I feel that could just bust the format.
With them being emblems, there can be no shenanigans.
** (other than acquiring 10 Lap counters)

Use of racist imagery and language is not the same as depictions of violence. That's not hypocritical on WotC's part, it's a blatant equivocation on yours.
At some point we'll have to talk about what PETA might think about your current profile pic, too. I'm not even sure if that's necessarily a bad thing. And no, that's not comparing animal abuse to racism, it's addressing the overall blatantly graphic nature of many of this game's illustrations. -

It’s modern day slavery. If you support BLM, throw your iPhone and Samsung in the bin, it is symbolic of misery.

Fan-of-"Fanservice" posted a message on Cards Banned for Racist Imagery and/or TextThe thing with Magic is that the whole premise of the game is people trying to best each other using a variety of cards and strategies. Some might do that by playing cute Cats and Unicorns and getting their opponents to draw on an empty deck, all peaceful like. Others will Enslave and Disembowel and Murder in order to win unless that aspect is removed from the game entirely.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
You know, when we as educators address kids playing knights, police, cowboys and other roleplays that *enact* hunting, detaining or hurting people, the realisation is usually that the kids are very aware that that would all be horrible things to *actually* do and then those kids are often dumbfounded that us adults even float the notion they would do such things.
So, yeah, I believe most players playing against someone using cards that depict horrible things don't automatically assume that player condones such things in real life. -

Invoke Prejudice - OK, this card is repeatedly mentioned, and should have been gone long ago. They were doing nothing for 25 years.
But Cleanse? Crusade? What the actual heck?
What will follow? All "hate cards" towards black are banned? All cards saying "nonwhite" are going to be banned?
This is nothing more but a no-cost empty gesture, trying to ride on the current waves of public opinion.
I'd like more to see them address the recent reports of discrimination regarding the jobs, intentionally not employing black or Asian artists / content creators, etc. Not these cheap shots.
Shame.
I 100% agree with you on this. -

Kryptnyt posted a message on Cards Banned for Racist Imagery and/or TextI think changing the MULTIVERSEID of Invoke Prejudice was warranted; I don't think most people knew about it until it was pointed out in an open letter on Reddit the other day. The removal of the artwork on the Gatherer and the bannings seem to be a diversionary tactic by panicking WOTC employees. They even removed the Duel Decks art of Crusade. Crusade (Master's Edition 1) is gone from Magic Online, presumably removed from player's collections. Were any of the other cards printed to Magic Online?Posted in: The Rumor Mill
It's nice to send a signal that they care. It's another entirely to try and cover up the mistake they let hang in the air for so long and not apologize for it. Taking cards out of peoples MTGO collections... has that been done before? The copy of Crusade I have on MTGO is the Duel Decks version and it still appears legal in Legacy/vintage/commander. I think this action needs to be refined.
Note; I understand why Crusade has to be banned; it was so that Jihad could be banned. They are both the same thing. -

Tormented posted a message on Cards Banned for Racist Imagery and/or TextI know that some of you took offense to my comments here, but for a company to seek out and highlight unintentional instances of marginalization is doing far more damage than good. As far as I am aware, no significant portion of the mtg community is using Cleanse to promote racism. Gypsy is a term that has transcended racial connotations and just means traveller/nomad. If a word is not being used to degrade/separate, it isn't racist. Use context, use intention - and heck, we have pictures to help decide if the intention (ahem Invoke prejudice) was racist.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

Ban death mark while your at it, if I see a person of Color playing this card I will say he is a racist as it is a black card that kills white creatures.........obviously I’m not being serious here, everyone on this planet is a hypocryte or has been a hypocryte, including me. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Wow, who could have guessed all these unserious concepts actually made it to print on official cards in some form. Colorless mana, join=augment/host. But oh no, the Supreme Council of Armchair Designers has deemed these unworthy of any discussion.
Warning for... well, that's really strange, why would you do this?
Warning for 4+ year thread necromancy in order to flame.

Orgasmic Ultimatum RRWWWBB
Sorcery
Roll two 10-sided dice. Bury all permanents with converted mana costs between the two dice values, inclusive. Each player loses 1 life for each permanent he or she controlled buried this way.

Creature
Trample
T: CARDNAME deals 3 damage to target creature.
Does this creature's ability now also trample?
That's the problem with overloading the trample keyword onto spells. In fact, instead of individual ability, a new keyword should modify the class of damage. like "Deal 3 overflow damage to target creature (damage over lethal damage to the creature is dealt to its controller.)" Now it works as expected for abilities, spells, and any other effect.

yea, surprising that they didn't just rename the entire game.
Planeswalkers: Jacetice League

10 years late to consider this. When they should have done this right from the get go when they introduced the new card type.
I had similar idea when making custom cards. I created a new category of objects called "damageable". Which includes player, creatures, and planeswalkers. And possibly any new card type; like I had the idea of terrains that could receive damage. Templating is simply "this deals x damage to target damageable." The rules would have explicit list of card types and objects (including player) that fall under damageable.
