I had a perilous myr and a barbed battle gear on board, my opponent was mana hosed and just dropped a mana myr. I swung with the perilous myr and did my damage, then equipped the barbed battle gear to kill his mana myr and keep him at 2 mana.
So, is this going to be a separate tournament? Or do you have to get top 2 in a game-day with a deck that forces you to play cards you probably don't want to play? I think it would be better if it was separated or something, so the people who decide to go with the Mirran/Phyrexian decks don't just get stomped by competitive decks.
I think its good, but is it better than Sun Titan returning Jace Beleren or Tectonic Edge when he ETB or attacks? I don't know if it would be worth removing the finishers that UW control already has that compliment the deck so well.
This is for UW only though, his implementations in other decks may be more viable.
If they are good, say, giving playsets or close to of chase mythics like Vengevine or even Planeswalkers, you know as well as I do that the places are going to jack up the price. If a deck contained two tournament legal mythics at even 2 of, I dont care if wizards sets MSRP at 19.99, most places are going to sell them for a lot more.
Just to be the first to say it, if Vesner ends up being a planeswalker, I bet you he will have an ability along the lines of
-3 Counter target spell or activated ability. You may activate this at any time you could activate an instant.
Obviously, he would start off at some low number like 4 or 5, or maybe even 3.
I played Time Reversal and Leyline of Anticipation in a deck together, both MD, just because everybody said how unplayable they were. Yeah, there definately not UW staples, but there not completely useless. I was running 8 counter spells, and not only did Time Reversal get me those counterspells 90% of the time when I needed them, It refilled my hand. Also, triggering a Jace, the Mindsculptor then playing Time Reversal can lead to some funny outcomes. I know its definately win more, but yeah. Oh, I also had Bojouka Bog to remove GY so the opposition and RDW didnt get there money cards back.
I do understand that right now its not good enough to be played, and given the stipulations, it probably wont be, but we cant decide that for sure.
Sun TitanFrost TitanSpreading SeasTectonic Edge, things like that. Its the deck I am currently running.
I liked it because its versatility, but that still doesn't mean its better than another card in the 3 slot.
We need 2 instances of soul for that to be true.
barring the opponent has a wrath effect. Kinda a one trick pony there.
and -1 Mystifying Maze for 1 Tectonic Edge and the deck works great. I also have Scepter of Dominance, which really helps out a lot with mana skrew or as a defender.
I also agree that Venser was a slight disappointment.
