The Phyrexian leaders are still alive and well as of this set, though. We've been getting wallpapers for their cards.

Them infighting doesn't necessarily mean they will lose now, it simply sets them up to fall at some point in the future. While the war against the Mirrans is still on, there is a higher priority than their power struggles. Once their victory has become more or less assured, then they can turn their efforts against each other more strongly. Lacking a Father of Machines means very little, since Karn on his throne wasn't any sort of leader at all; the praetors had a massive war effort ready to go without him. He was a figurehead.

Karn fighting for the Mirrans isn't exactly a sure thing either. He has the legacy weapon still, but that alone wasn't what defeated Phyrexia the first time. The Legacy defeated Yawgmoth specifically, and only by using Dominaria's Null Moon and millenia's worth of white mana that had been stored inside it. Phyrexia itself was destroyed by Urza and the other planeswalkers who placed immensely powerful bombs to destroy the plane's infrastructure. The power Karn wields is great, but it wasn't enough in the past, and now it is still no guarantee of victory, certainly not right away.

We've seen plenty of preview art now. And what we've seen includes a cycle of legendary praetors, as well as a cycle of Chancellors. The Phyrexians now have infrastructure on the surface of the plane, at the very least a white-aligned location called the Annex. And the story snippet that came with the Puresteel Paladin art states that the Mirrans do not consider their plane won back. That speech is not by any stretch of the imagination something given by a victor.

    so after reading this...
Couldnt Karn use the power of the mirran suns
    To power the legacy weapon
and BOOM bye bye phrexians? I mean we do have art for a card
    Caged Sun
and the 'cage' does look like something Karn could make...

Heya guys, really excited about the new pics!

but most, for the LEONIN YAY
and memnarch... or some part of him

The way i see the memnarchish construct is ....that it's not memnarch...

i see it more like the remains of memnarch... like memnarch without memnarch... if you get what i mean Grin

but i know nothing about the lore, it looks to me like the ''intelligent, sentient'' part of memnarch has vanished, and his constructed mechanical body is all that remains, function all by itself?

look at the proffesional pic i made using my photoshopping skills...

you can clearly see memnarch tiny hands!!! but something looks missing, looking at the old pic of him you can see that his half body and head that was ''humanish'' or smth gone missing(at new pic), (went back to mirrari form) and his artifact body remains...

ps . also since its a golem he can turn around that's why the ''empty'' space is at the right and not at the middle like the hands...

does it make sense at all ? Grin

maybe iv gona tooo far... XD

actually when i go back and look at the old pic
    i think i agree
but i have never been that good at analyzing art :/
just throwing my 2 cents in

Is it just me or does the artwork look like a tribute to the illustrator of Conan? He died this year. Looks very boris/bell inspired.

That is definitely Memnarch. As other's have pointed out he had clones of himself. Spider legs, small 2 arms below the head, ya that's him.

sorry but do you mean of detective conan? first i heard of that

and i think that the memarch has to be of the replicas he made
wouldnt make sense for memnarch to be back
