Decrying sexism is not enough, every community member should embody an "its about the Gathering" ideal.
Thank you for being "loud" about this, and don't stop.

Utterly unique and off the wall. Downright bizarre abilities, typing and casting cost! Yet somehow she is an outstanding general that strikes the balance between "cutthroat" and "casual" perfectly, singlehandedly enabling the group hug archetype in those colors. Her art is beautiful and her backstory relatable.
(Runners up for me would be Birthing Pod, Eye of the Storm, and Johnny, Combo Player because I am one.) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
*Or a real cool hat.
The good guys?
They did this in Call of Cthulhu, it was awesome because it was (imo) the perfect harmony of flavor and mechanic.
"Night (When you cast x, it becomes Night. Destroy all permanents with Day.)"
"Cast x only if it is Night."
"X can't attack if it is Night."
"X dies if it is Day."
"As long as it is Night, X is unblockable."
Succinct summary of how I feel, I have to say.

I own that :D. I've been corresponding with Neige (the mastermind behind this and other projects) consistently for a few months, and he even agreed to interview before their show in Toronto on September 30th. Please ignore the lady spunk that is now all over my desk chair.
Don't you agree that metal as a whole is going in this direction? I'm fairly certain that someone who is used to the aforementioned hit-singles will not easily become accustomed to a more technically precise death metal track (for example). As the songs simultaneously become more technically precise, the potential fans (of an already very elitist scene) are further alienated, and more people write it off straightaway.
Their missing out.
Interesting you should say that, I totally agree. And the same thing happened with Ensiferum and Barren Earth when they came the following year, too. I thought they still put on an adequate show in both cases, minus the general unprofessionalism the second time, but they lack the energy they display at the meet and greets...
That's a good point. I certainly think if one* doesn't blindly label it "metal, ugh, I don't liek dat sh--"** it is quite accessible, specifically because it uses so many acoustic and shoe-gaze (essentially non-metal) elements.
EP of the Year or what?!
* Not you.
** You didn't.
Listening to Tosin Abasi makes you cry.
You own an eight string guitar just so you can play along with Meshuggah songs.
Give this artist even a brief amount of time and you will achieve enlightenment.

Worst: I've never been disappointed at a show, but a stain on their otherwise flawless reputation was Skrymer's conduct at the last Finntroll show in Canada. His equipment wasn't working and you could see it was really bothering him; it wouldn't have left a bad taste in my mouth if he hadn't thrown a temper tantrum right on stage, swearing in Finnish during songs. Really.
If this or a similar pattern shows up we can deduce the colour of our ISD spoiler pretty quickly.
And "Madness 1:symu::symu:."
