After looking through the new innovations the one card that seemed out of place was Lord of Extinction since that was in the same world as Bolas last time. Anyone think it might get a reprint in Hour of Devastation?
RIP any relevance or win condition Energy had. Aetherworks Marvel was the big splashy win condition for energy. It made energy more relevant..but it turned out it was too easy to accrue the energy required. We still have the "timewarp energy" variant, but I don't think its good enough.
The same thing happened with affinity. I think energy will be completely irrelevant after Aetherworks Marvel is banned. That's the danger with parasitic mechanics, I guess.
Hey, I noticed Embalm is pretty close to living reflection. It's different in that instead of etb it's a variant of unearth. One thing I find that's funny is the judges said that there would be tons of logitical issues. One was they couldn't justify commissioning art for that many tokens. Did anyone else notice the similarities?
On MaRo's blog hellbent went from a 5 to a 3 on storm scale. Hellbent and madness kinda synergize well with each other. We already have a Devil/Hell theme anyway. Behold the Beyond and Asylum Visitor hint towards Hellbent being in the set. Also hellbent works well with Chandra's 0 ability.
A counter argument would be MaRo saying hellbent and Madness interaction might be seen in supplemental set not normal expansion. But this was in 2014..and madness changed storm scale numbers.

No it takes the foil slot.
