I second Erebos. Fantastic general. Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed is also good.

I fail to see how a 40-life, multiplayer format caters to red-zone strategies.

It's not the format's fault that you don't want to play answers.

posted a message on Thoughts on Casual Play
See, I like EDH as a format because it gives people a way to play outside of tournaments with their old, unusable cards in a structured manner. The problem with 60-card casual, in my opinion, is that there are no guidelines. To some, 60-card casual means playing with 4 of their Black Lotus, and to others, it means playing with their random "non-tournament" chaff. I like EDH because it gives you this structure lacking in other casual formats. It tells you exactly what is legal and what isn't.

However, this breaks down when people start say card X isn't fun and that it isn't allowed, or card Y is too good, or infinite combos are dumb. It turns it back into 60-card casual. Hence, this is what I have this philosophy listed in my signature:
    • Make use of what's in the format
    • Play good strategies
    • Don't complain, adapt

That is the formula to have a good metagame. For example, if people are starting to abuse their graveyards too much in your local metagame, then you should exploit that weakness in the meta and start packing cards like Rest in Peace. Then they have to adapt their decks to be able to win without relying entirely on their graveyard, and on the meta goes. It's all a fluid, constantly changing metagame.

There is no difference, in my mind, between playing "casual" EDH and "competitive" EDH. There is just EDH. EDH is a broken format that is held in check through social regulations ("Steve always combos out turn 5, lay the hate on him.") and metagame adaptation ("Steve is always comboing out early... maybe I should pack some combo hate.")

Hm... don't overlook some key Bow tech: attack with Sharpshooter (which grants it deathtouch), kill a creature somehow, Sharpshooter the world! Wink

(I just like Sharpshooter, okay? :P)

What would be some recommended Sunforger targets?

All those come to mind. What else?

    Various Fork effects

Those are all options I've run in the past in your colours, and I'm sure Unexpectedly Absent wouldn't be horrible as a temporary answer to something (especially considering you'd probably run it just for the card itself; being Sunforgerable is just gravy)

With those deathtouch effects, you might want to try out Goblin Sharpshooter. That engine is a lot better than I had initially anticipated.

I would build him as a goodstuff general. He can come it whenever and solve a good amount of problems for you. He's just value.

I would, of course, run some number of combos that abuse him as well (if there are any).

posted a message on Your Dream General
As I said in this thread, I really want a legendary archer with different kinds of arrows. Would be so much fun.

Credits to movexig for this design:

    Robin of the Veil 2WW
Legendary Creature — Human Archer (MR)
    Vigilance
G, :symtap:: Robin of the Veil deals 3 damage to target creature with flying.
W, :symtap:: Robin deals 1 damage to each attacking creature.
U, :symtap:: Tap target creature. It doesn’t untap during its controller’s next untap step.
    3/2

That and the obvious Torpor Orb and Goblin Welder generals. Grin
