I'd be shocked if any significant number of Yu-Gi-Oh! players are actually drawn to play Magic because of the existence of two-faced cards.

I doubt this is hardly the topic of discussion at this point in the thread, but as someone who played Yugioh for about six years before getting into Magic, if I were just now getting into Magic at this moment, or in the next few weeks, two-faced cards would probably be the least of my "concern". If anything, I'd probably just be relived to be playing a game that is far less expensive (yes, it takes a lot more money to make a competitive deck in Yugioh than it does in Magic. Trust me.) and also has a better fanbase (yes, this is true as well. This is a big generalization, but I'll say it anyway: your whiny Magic player might be kind of annoying, but the average competitive Yugioh player is just a plain *******).

I can't speak for most of the people who switch from Yugioh to Magic, but in the case of me, my brother, and a few friends, when we first started, none of us cared about what was going on in Standard. At that time, M10 rule changes would have just recently been in effect, and Zendikar would have just come out. All the complaints about the M10 rule changes and complaints about anything related to Zendikar would have gone over all of our heads. Basically, the whining about the changes, and the actual changes themselves, would have meant nothing to us; we just wanted to sit down and play a new game and get whatever cards we could to make our first decks.

EDIT: 300 post get! And grammar stuff.

Cool. Thought it'd only be a matter of time before we saw the rest of the enemy duals. I'll definitely need to pick up a Clifftop Retreat, a Woodland Cemetery, and a Hinterland Harbor for my EDH decks and a couple Sulfur Falls for my Ping deck. Again, here's hoping these don't fall around the $10-$15 range when Innistrad first comes out.

Enemy duals, man. I've been wanting enemy M10 duals for a while. I'm glad they finally actually exist. Hopefully they're not going to be around $10-$15 like the M10 duals where when they were first available.

Also, Olivia Voldaren seems pretty cool. Because we're getting a BR vampire legend, I'm hoping we'll get a GW human legend, a WU spirit legend, a UB zombie legend, and a RG werewolf legend as well. Though I wouldn't doubt Mikaeus was our human legend, I'd still prefer a GW human legend over just a W one.

^ Agreed. I just saw your Teneb and Urabrask videos as well. They were very good and informative. Though I don't plan on building either anytime soon, I can't say I didn't learn a few things about both of them. Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing a video for Edric. I somewhat recently made an Edric deck and I'd want to see how others build around him. Anyway, keep up the good work.

As much as I would like new Commander decks in 6 months, my wallet wouldn't. Next summer, sure, that'd be cool. As for speculating what they'd be if WotC were to actually make new ones, like aregand, I wouldn't mind five 4 colored decks. Each deck would come with three 4 colored legends, one of which is a Nephilim that's errated to be legendary.

Crystal Ball works alright in my Mayael deck. As a matter of fact, I have one in every one of my EDH decks. But yeah, it works pretty well. And I don't have any Tops or Scroll Racks and stuff like that either, but meh, whatever.

EDIT: Also, the lands with hideaway that tap for red, green, and white are pretty good as well.

I'm kind of disappointed by all the Alara legends. One or two would have been okay, but four is too many. Also, Omnath and Ulamog are a little too new. Same could be said for the Alara legends, but meh, yeah...

That said, I'm fine with the others. Especially Cao Cao, Sun Quan, and Mikaeus.

  • posted a message on Have you ever ragequit, and what made you do it?
When I play EDH with my playgroup at school, people usually gang up on me and hate me off the table simply because I've been playing EDH the longest. A lot of the time, I'm being ganged up on when I'm not the biggest threat. I guess it also has to do with the fact that the group has played very little multiplayer games before playing EDH, so many of them aren't that great at assessing threats. A lot of them also hold "grudges" about things you did to them the game before. Sometimes it's about things that aren't Magic-related. (Once I didn't want to finish my fries from Sheetz and two of my friends wanted the rest, so I told them to flip a coin and whoever wins gets the fries or can share them or whatever. The one who lost the flip proceeded to go out of his way to kill me the next time we played EDH.) Yeah, I know it's just a game and it's meant to be for fun, but stuff like that kind of gets to you after a while. It's stuff like that that makes me just pick up my cards and tell the group I'm done for the day before heading back to my room.

EDIT: To answer the question, that's about the closest I get to ragequitting. I wouldn't really consider that ragequitting though. When I pick my stuff up, yeah, I'm a little annoyed, but I'm not yelling at people and being a whiny *****.

It's probably been said before, but Undead Slayer. It'd probably be stupid in Limited though.

Whoa, that looks pretty badass. I could totally see those werewolves being either red or green (I'd guess green, personally).

With the exception of Mayael and possibly Kemba and Drana, I doubt any of my decks come anywhere close to around $150-ish. Kind of vague, but yeah, I don't really want to check... Muh

We've done it before. It's pretty fun, changes things up a little bit. Typically the decks that kind of keep to themselves do a lot better than the ones that are always trying to make a bunch of crazy plays. That said, we usually just do EDH Planechase more than EDH Planechase Archenemy. Usually the archenemy just gets completely destroyed, especially when you're playing with planes like Cliffside Market. The Archenemy cards also don't seem as helpful when you're playing against 3 or 4 other EDH decks as well.

With the exception of the first three crappy EDH decks I made, in my playgroup, just about everyone's EDH decks were more or less on par with each other until we all went to college. I came back home during thanksgiving break to find that two people in the group had made really powerful and finely-tuned decks in an effort to not get overpowered by the groups at their colleges.

From then until somewhat recently, it's kind of been an arms race to make better EDH decks. I guess all that kind of stopped when the Commander stuff came out. That, and two different people in my playgroup have kind of taken on the role of being griefers, which I don't actually mind at all. Because of that, I guess people have realized that it's all just a game, and not meant to be taken as "seriously."

EDIT: To answer the question, to be honest, I only remember one of the two decks that were much better than everyone else's. They were Omnath and something else.

I wouldn't mind cycling coming back. I've always thought it was straightforward and easy enough to understand. Either that or transmute. I've always thought it was a pretty cool, useful, and an overall good mechanic.

I always sort my mana by what it produces - For example in Mayael; green in one column, green/red in another, red, red/white, white, green/white, all colours and colourless. So Mosswort Bridge goes in the green column, with the forests.

I do the exact same thing also. I also put my mana sources in the order they appear in my general's mana cost. For example, for Mayael, I'd put my red mana sources on the left, green in the middle, white on the right, and anything that taps for two colors (like Rootbound Crag) between my reds and greens, or whatever two colors it taps for. Cards that tap for three or more different colors go on the far left and enemy duals are to the right of that and to the left of my reds.

I have a weird habit with tapping. When I'm tapping lands to pay costs or using a creature's tap ability, I have a tendency to rotate clockwise, so that the right edge of the card is toward me. However, when I tap a creature to attack, I tend to rotate it counterclockwise so that the right edge faces my opponent.

Same for the most part. I just turn everything counterclockwise. Not a lot of people I play with do that. I've been doing it since I've played Yugioh, so I've never thought much of it.
