there is no correct way or style to play, do what you like, and what feels natural.

i advise AGAINST a metronome, as this will only make you better at playing with yourself. (lol) while you may be ripping through a scale at a steady tempo, the rest of the band might be building tempo dynamically or slowing down almost imperceptibly

i know a few players who can rip through yngwie type runs sitting by themselves, but when you try and jam with them, they are off tempo and off key, all they know is reading tablature in their bedroom.

what you need to do is practice playing with other people, live music is never as precise as a metronome, and thank god, because that would suck all the life right out of it

and as far as learning scales and intricate arpeggios...girls dont know if it is hard to play or not, so do what you like Smile

in general i try to mind my own business, especially when it involves following kids into bathrooms haha. keep doing that, and you are going to end up with a knife in your stomach or a lawsuit.

hey saga, havent had a chance to check my old hdd on my friends tower, that will solve a few questions...as far as linux goes, its pretty intuitive as far as when i originally installed it, everything was up and running in like 5 minutes, fairly plug and play, and if you havent used it, check it out, great for an internet computer as there are very few linux virus's out there.

and yeah dells suck, never again.

Hey FuxAlt, thanks for the reply, i was not able to read the hard drive from the linux boot disk, and other hard drives arent showing up either... i went through my boot menu and it is set to boot off the hard drive, but it is showing that there isnt one, i have an external hard drive, im going to see if i can boot from there.

thanks again guys, im not too savvy, got a few tech skills, but alot of the hardware stuff escapes me, so thanks for the understanding and patience. im gonna plug along on it tonight and see if i can make any progress, give yall an update in the morning.

Do you have access to another computer that you can plug the old HDD into?

ahh good question, i had thought of that but no, i do not, i can bring it to a friends and test the hard drive there though.

i am assuming at this point that the old HDD, that i thought was fried, is indeed not, in which case i have an extra brand new HDD i do not need...

Are you saying that you installed Linux on it?

Do you have the Disk from the old HDD? Or was the Backup partition on the drive?

I ran into a similar problem. Basically, the OS you are going to use needs drivers to read the HDD that are only on the backup that Dell gives you. I personally tried many ways to fix this and could never get any to work.

Did you keep the old HDD?

Edit:If I remember correctly, we were able to get it to read a ATA drive.

i have copies of both ubuntu linux and windows xp through 7. my hard drive did not come with a disk i do not believe, new or old. yes i have the old hard drive.

and also the computer was working fine for years, and this just happened one startup.

By set-up I assume you are talking about the Boot menu (allows you to select where to boot from) and the ribbon is a ATA cable. That shouldn't really matter unless your HDD is hooked up that.

BIOS is basically the OS for your mother board. But, F12 should be it, sometimes it's a different button. But I'm sure that's right.

Try mixing up the cables and ports. The blue and the red ones should both be SATA cables.

After that there are a number of different things it could be.

for what its worth, thanks for the help and your time.

i have tried every combination (red cable/ port 1, blue cable/ port 2, red cable/ port 2, blue cable/ port 1) to no avail, same message every time.

basically, im trying to narrow down to whether its a intallation screw up on my part, or if it is an issue with the motherboard or something i cant fix myself.

edit: yes i had linux on it, and had the installation disk which i could boot from as well, which i did to try and access the hard drive from the os.

Does it not allow you to progress further? Did you try a different SATA port? Does it show the drive in BIOS? How old is your computer?

it would allow me to enter setup, where i started up from a linux disk, i tried both ports, the ribbon has two ports for two hard drives if wanted, the desktop is 4 years old or so a dell, i am not familliar with bios, although in f12,it would show the device as not there.

from my motherboard i think is a red sata cable, and a blue ata cable, my hard drive is a sata so i plugged that one in...

    ok.....

about a month ago upon startup my computer would go to the splash screen and then straight to a screen saying "sata hard drive not found" amongst other things...i figured my hard drive crashed out, so i bought a new hard drive and swapped it in, which i have done before....same screen comes up.

    ideas?

You won't get priority in time to pump your wall before rite of consumption makes you sac it. This is because sacing the creature is a cost to pay for rite of consumption instead of an effect of the spell like Diabolic Edict. You would have to pump your wall up before you even cast rite of consumption if you want to deal any damage to him

ok that is what i thought, that since it is actually a casting cost, then i would need to do so before even casting it.

still a little fuzzy on the other part though...as soon as i would reach zero life im dead right? all my spells fizzle?
