I liked the idea of isochron scepter and silence (can't afford orim's chant), so I made a deck around it.
I find the deck to be extremely slow at the beginning of the game - is there any way to speed up this deck's tempo?
Should I add in more counter-cards (such as mana leaks/rune snags?) (can't afford mana drain and force of will), removal (in the form of Condemn), or extra card draw (impulse) or anything else that comes to mind?
I was playing against my friend today and he was using a gilder bairn and a Sarkhan Vol together. In order to tap the gilder bairn, he attacked with it. I blocked his gilder bairn with a 3/3 creature which should have killed it. Can he untap his gilder bairn in and double sarkhan vol's counters or does the gilder bairn simply die?
This is the deck that I've played for about a week and I've found it to be fairly consistent. I won't include a SB in my decklist because mine is built around my metagame.
I can't decide between Hada Freeblade and Elite Vanguard; it doesn't make sense to run a 2/2 split - which is better?
I took the UW decklist posted in the UWr standard forum and modified it a bit to meet my needs/budget.
The purpose of the deck is to control the game until you get Sphinxes or Iona out to swing for the win. I have not factored any of the WWK cards into the deck yet, so if there is anything from the new set to add in, please suggest it.
I am still contemplating on splashing red for mainly Ajani Vengeant and Earthquake. (Maybe Lightning Bolt and Double Negative, but I dont want to make a UWr deck that's too red intensive because I dont like the sketchiness of the lands in UWr.
That being said, here is the decklist that was posted in the UWr forum. Below that is the decklist that I have come up with.
I actually run a deck similar to this except I usually find that it is a little slow and if you're facing a faster deck or a control deck, you're pretty well screwed. (against uwr control, all your removal is made basically useless in the first match - kinda dumb)
Nyxathid becomes pretty insane as a 1BB for 5/5, 6/6, 7/7 depending on how the discard is going. Halo Hunter isn't TOO BAD of a beater if you're going for budget (6/3 intimidate against a deck with no black = :D)
The win-con would be to novablast, and then start pumping out guys as fast as possible?
If so, would it be effective to have an admonition angel out (CMC 6, so it'll be out a turn before novablast) and exile some of your own guys? Then novablast kills angel, and you get all your guys back and swing for the win next turn.
I guess the biggest thing with this deck is mana ramping to get to 6/7 mana, and surviving long enough to get the novablast out.
Or pump guys out and have a Dauntless Escort out to save your guys from novablast? Knight of the Reliquary for extra mana ramp?
Possible Qasali Pridemage sideboard for nasty enchantments/artifacts (Luminarch)?
Could have Pale Recluse for plains/forest cycling? Noble Hierach/Steward of Valeron/Llanowar Elves for Mana excel?
Just brainstorming some ideas- tell me what you think.
Hm, sounds interesting. Novablast Wurm is quite an interesting card to build a deck around - too bad you'd need to have the green in there cause novablast + Emeria, the Sky Ruin would be pretty sick.
Probably going to want Sunpetal Grove in there too, but not too many duallands I guess because of harrows and friends only work with basics.
