I'm basically building from my collection of cards I havent played for 3 years and supplementing with my friends' new cards. I love opening up a pack full of nostalgia when I see cards I used in competetive decks, edh, and just stuff in my collection which I have always loved. Its the main reason I'm building the cube, so i can play with all of my favorite cards ever and not have to spend $ on playsets of standard staples. With this in mind,I feel as though my list will have a lot of fat that you cubing purists would cut, but I just dont have the heart to cut a lot of borderline cards.
Cmc balance is something ive been pondering about for a week now. Any thoughts?
Ex: should my white 2cmc cards be about equal to the green ones? Or do you just try and get the strongest cards for any given color while maintaining a solid curve
Fixed. Off topic, but you seem to be the authority on the format or at least one of them. How does one decide how many cards to use for his cube and from there how many of each type. I'm looking for some meaty answers if you are willing. Lol
Thanks for the speedy response, didnt think anyone would be awake lol
I was noticing my cube had tons of creatures with a rediculous amount of utility. Getting your best ³ dudes just seems like GG.
Perhaps its mana cost is a serious drawback but if you are green this should be no problem.
Also.. I dont own kitchen finks.. CAD can just hold his place in my gw section
Congregation at dawn
Recently started building a peasant cube, after looking at a ton of lists I noticed this card is in none of them.. Anyone tell me why they decided to exclude it?
Yeah I know what you mean but, if the meta starts shifting towards everyone playing squadron hawks and stoneforge, this guy could be the answer. He's not a total weiner in other matchups like the sparkmage since you can slap an equip on him and shoot planeswalkers etc.
What do you guys board out for the matchup. I know the GG's are the first thing to go. But, what are our other weak cards in the matchup? The four drops?
Does anybody think that the number of Spikeshot Elder should go up to 2 or 3 due to this matchup? I mean surely all the JTMS lovers will jump on the UW bandwagon and also the mirror. Any one else thinking about running more than just 1 in the md? The reason I'm not sure on it is that we have the sparkmage in the sb.
In my meta they already figured out the Island+Seas trick, so I think I will try this next tournament in my meta.
This Is risky, But Plains has just enough lifegain in order for it to work. I'm gunna proxy it up later today...
...Well its Clear that Plains is not ready for Legacy until we can find an answer to Giant Slug
And also, can we keep all non Plains discussion out of this thread. We can never get it bumped to Developing competitive if this thread is all over the place with different decklists
With a little under 1/5 of the set spoiled, we truly can't tell if Graceful Antelope will make an appearance or not. I have started to test a new list in preparation for an Antelope Filled Meta.
I agree that it slows down the deck a smidgeon, but I think as long as you get Plains in your opening hand you should be fine. Just mulligan til you get it; I know there's only one in the deck, but it could happen.
The Arid mesa gives you double the chance to draw Plains, but the problem I'm having during testing is that If i draw it While Plains is in my hand already.. It's a dead card.
Between black, white, and red, creatures' life expectancy is very short in my cube. How much is too much?

1xIsland
1x Spreading Seas
Hopefully this package will blindside the powerful Graceful Antelope and improve the matchup dramatically.
So We can agree that the Optimal Build would be..
1x Arid Mesa
1x Jungle Shrine
