Cool. I'm convinced this is how Manifest should have worked in the first place.
I was convinced we'd have "spell morph" in Dragons of Tarkir. Play as a 2/2 then turn into a spell for the cost. Would have worked with manifest and synergized with Prowess (which admittedly wasn't in Dragons but w/e). But maybe being able to chump with your spells then cast it proved too strong to be prevalent in limited/standard.
They should really make all the cards new and totally scrap the reprints.
new cards are just strictly superior to the boring stuff we all know and most likely already have anyway.
Yes, lets make it harder for new players to get copies of old, out of print cards so that playership can languish and eventually dwindle when no one wants to pay top dollar for essential old cards.
Even as someone who has been playing for 16+ years, I don't always get cards when they're first around. Especially when I was in high school and college and didn't buy lots of stuff. It's nice to get good old cards on the cheap.
If reprints bother you, buy singles of the new stuff. Problem solved.
I like the mana cost/counter synergy. Can cast it cheap if you need to. Gets big if you have to pay a lot of Commander tax. Can still be cast for a lot even if you haven't had it die a lot. Very flexible design.
Kinda sad the reanimate ability doesn't even synergize with the token copier though. When Attack is after start of combat. I guess the colors don't match up either but it'd be a way to get around the exile clause.
At release day drafts, this card will be nuts. Just get up and run down the rows. Pure life gain spells suck but 20 life for 1 mana? Might be getting there.
I'm going to hear a lot of name butchering on this one. Interesting that they include a French word in the name.
Chevalier is in the English merriam Webster dictionary. At least the online one. Obviously a loan word though, but that's a big chunk of English anyway. I'm only really familiar with the word because of an anime that had it in the title.

They don't go infinite. You still get double life loss on the other player though.
