Time Walk as an ultimate would be pretty disappointing. People tend to overestimate how good extra turns are. They CAN be really good, but often they're pretty mediocre, especially when you have to use resources to take them (if your only play in a turn is casting Time Warp with your 5 mana, you basically just cycled).
Put it this way - compare an extra turn to the ultimate of any other planeswalkers. Could any of those be fairly costed as 5 mana sorceries? Other than Beleren's ultimate - which is definitely the worst - none are even close.
actually, i believe Garruk's ultimate is a 5 mana sorcery word for word (overrun). he also costs 4 mana. if jace 2.0 can get there a turn after you play him, say start with 3 counters and need 5 to time warp, this would be pretty spot on. if the middle ability did something to keep you alive longer (like making a beast to block with) it would be pretty comparable to my favorite of the original planeswalkers.
that being said, i think it will be splashier. but its definitely possible.
i play a more "burn" heavy version with hellspark elemental, goblin guide, lightning bolt, burst lightning, call to heel, trapmaker's snare, and a bunch of one-of traps.
but at fnm a few weeks ago, another guy brought out a monored version with elemental appeal and hell's thunder. i won about %70 (swerve from sideboard = mvp) but i think we played 20 games in 5 minutes.
i would think garruk AND ajani. i never like having 4 of planeswalkers anyway cuz multiples dont work.
have you thought about borderposts? ive been trying to figure a way to use borderposts and blades together competitively since alara reborn prerelease.
im really starting to like this landfall = loyalty counter idea. its high time there was a way to hurry a planeswalker along other than "take more turns" and it can't be a spell that puts counters on things because a)it would be too specific and unfun for new players and b)they did adding/removing counters heavily in time spiral
I know, in a vacuum borderposts are not good. But they really power up the hushblade, cliffrunner and ooze AND somehow provide a really consistent mana base. This deck does well against jund and eldrazi and okay vs boros. jacerator is a problem, but when isn't it?
