If those are real....Then i'm seeing a lot of lame Mythics for this set. Although the planeswalker seems cool for 3cmc and the blue one screams "break me" everywhere.
So, i was wondering if Thragtusk is playable on some format outside of Standard. The question comes from the issue i have with its current price tag and the fact that i own 4 of them.
I'm wondering if it's worth the keeping them or if it's going to have to suffer the same effect that cards such as Call of the Herd did: Be $20 cards when it's standard legal and then drop $1,75.
So...Do you guys think i should keep my Thragtusks or trade them for other cards that I need (such as a few modern staples) while they're expensive. Whaddya guys think?
Although you guys may not agree i've found that Garruk, Primal Hunter is simply the BEST substitute for Thragtusk. He puts 3/3 tokens, gives you CA and has an almost game-finishing ultimate. He's resilent to removal as well and even if he dies to an Dreadbore, he still leaves you with an 3/3 Beast. The only problem is that he doesn't gives you life, but i think that his inclusion might as well make you run Disciple of Bolas as an 2-of.
Olivia Voldaren has proved herself to be rather irreplaceble. The only card that makes something similiar is Dark Impostor, which has an way too fragile body and requires 6 mana to do something.
I really don't see what red is giving you looking at your list. All you are getting is Pillar of Flame and dreadbore for the main deck. There are other ways of dealing with Zombies if that's what you are worried about. All it's doing is diluting your mana base, I'd understand completely if you had bonfires, but really you are splashing red for minimal reasons. I would say play G/B for now and if you can get the expensive red stuff then reevaluate your position.
Here's the dirty little secret about Jund. It just plays the best cards it can that cost less than 6 mana. You should be doing the same. And when you remove the really expensive cards the next tier down have very little red. You are also trying to find direct replacements for insane cards. Focus less on direct replacements and more on making the best deck you can. I'm not sold on Visionary or Bloodline Keeper at all.
Here's where I am at the moment. It may go more towards control after more testing.
How do you deal with Geralf's Messenger, Gravecrawler and Planeswalkers? Because those were the reason for me to run red. I've tried B/G before, but it really haven't worked for me.
Elvish Visionary provides an blocker against aggro and gives you an early-game draw. I know it's not that good of an choice but it works for me. Bloodline Keeper....Well....Just try it and see if it works for you
@The Dork Knight - I'm currently planning on buying a few Golgari event decks, as you mentioned, they have Thragtusk and Wolfir Silverheart And a lot of cards that i can easily trade for cards i need.
@j&c - I've tested Mayor of Avabruck but he was always way too weak. Jund is an deck where usually you don't want to stand there and do nothing for a turn, specially when most cards you need to run are sorcery-speed.
Also, ignoring value-wise and considering the current metagame, i'd like to know if it's worth trading my event decks' Thragtusks for the same number of Huntmaster of the Fells.
So....I have a Jund deck (with shocks, duals, etc.) but i'm having issues to find budget replacements for Huntmaster of the Fells, Olivia Voldaren and Thragtusk and i can't afford them right now...
For Huntmaster i've been considering running Bloodline Keeper, yeah, it doesn't have an immediate impact on the board and have to tap to put an token...But the token flies and since i run 3 Vampire Nighthawk maindeck, it's easier to flip it and i won a few games on the back of it.
For Thragtusk i've been considering Vorapede...It is resilent to removal, can attack and still block after attacking, and can survive against Tusks (unless it already has an +1/+1 counter)...Its drawback is the triple green...But my deck runs Farseek and Borderland Ranger, which makes having triple green pretty easy. I also run Garruk, Primal Hunter and i cast it without any problems.
And i REALLY don't know what to put on the place of Olivia Voldaren....
That's what happens when black doesn't get an good and consistent card draw in years.
I've been brewing an B/G Rock deck for next standard, but i'll wait until the full spoiler to put an definite list.
About your decklist, Diabolic Revelations is bad and you don't really need Gilded Lotus. Even with shocklands, i don't like Multilate on 2 color decks... I'd rather play Garruk Relentless than Primal Hunter, it's a lot easier to cast.
I'm going to an small modern event this weekend and decided to run Jund since i'm quite familiar with this deck. But i'm kinda on a low budget and can't afford the most pricey cards right now, so i've made an budget list and wanted some feedback about it:
Strangleroot Geist - Playtested it and Putrid Leech, right now i'm leaning more towards Geist. If it's not pretty clear, that's my budget choice for Goyf.
Rakdos Augermage - I've seen it on Orin Beasley's GP Columbus list and liked it. At worst, it's 3 mana for an 3 power first strike creature. At best, it can rape your opponent's hand when its ability is played right. I'm seeing it as an kinda bad replacement for Liliana, but better than most options i've considered.
Night's Whisper & Phyrexian Arena - Budget Bob. Arena draws cards constantly, which is good for this deck, but Whisper comes a turn earlier and draws at the same time that you cast it, which is relevant on some matches and makes BBE give you an good CA when cascade into it.
I KNOW some cards are really essential to the deck, but i can't afford them right now, some i'm trying to find substitutes for it untill i buy them.
Some other budget choices i've considered but don't know if it's worth running instead of my options:
Fantastic primer! You mentioned everything I could think of and explained them all well. It's great to have an OP that consolidates nearly all of MBC's resources. I have some builds and considerations that I wanted to run by you all. I'll edit this post later with said contributions. Thank you again!

Here's the decklist.
4x Blood Crypt
3x Woodland Cemetery
3x Dragonskull Summit
4x Forest
4x Swamp
2x Mountain
4x Vorapede
3x Elvish Visionary
3x Borderland Ranger
3x Vampire Nighthawk
2x Wolfir Avenger
4x Farseek
2x Dreadbore
2x Rakdos Keyrune
2x Sever the Bloodline
2x Garruk, Primal Hunter
I'm also trying to find something to replace Bonfire of the Damned (It's currently Flames of the Firebrand at the SB), ideas?
Also, ignoring value-wise and considering the current metagame, i'd like to know if it's worth trading my event decks' Thragtusks for the same number of Huntmaster of the Fells.

Any suggestions ?

Golgari Signet has been confirmed as reprinted?
Blightning
Lightning Bolt
Sprouting Thrinax
Garruk Wildspeaker
Grave Titan
Putrid Leech
Those cards used to see play on Standard Jund.
Also, keep in mind that by using Bloodbraid Elf, you want every single card of 3cmc or less on your deck to be impressive when you cast it on cascade.
This primer wasn't good enough to be moved to the Primers section?
3x Savage Lands
2x Woodland Cemetery
2x Twilight Mire
2x Treetop Village
4x Swamp
4x Forest
3x Mountain
4x Bloodbraid Elf
3x Vampire Nighthawk
2x Tombstalker
2x Rakdos Augermage
4x Lightning Bolt
3x Terminate
3x Putrefy
2x Tribute to Hunger
2x Duress
2x Inquisition of Kozilek
2x Rise // Fall
2x Night's Whisper
2x Phyrexian Arena
Explanation about some card choices:
Strangleroot Geist - Playtested it and Putrid Leech, right now i'm leaning more towards Geist. If it's not pretty clear, that's my budget choice for Goyf.
Rakdos Augermage - I've seen it on Orin Beasley's GP Columbus list and liked it. At worst, it's 3 mana for an 3 power first strike creature. At best, it can rape your opponent's hand when its ability is played right. I'm seeing it as an kinda bad replacement for Liliana, but better than most options i've considered.
Tombstalker - Since i'm not running Bob, why not?
Tribute to Hunger - It kills annoying and pesky creatures. Consuming Vapors could be another option, but can't be cascaded into.
Rise // Fall - Everyone likes Hymn to Tourach...It's faster than Blightning on the MUs that discards become pretty relevant.
Tarmogoyf - Putrid Leech, Skinshifter, Troll Ascetic.
Liliana of the Veil - Hypnotic Specter
Dark Confidant - Sygg, River Cutthroat, Ohran Viper.
And other cards that i've been thinking about running:
Abyssal Persecutor (Instead of Tombstalker)
Consuming Vapors
Garruk Wildspeaker
Great Sable Stag
Sprouting Thrinax
Jund Charm
Thoughts?
Thanks, looking forward for your contributions.
