The product density doesn’t bother me
Since I am highly selective and pursue only want I want
It’s all about personal restraint and standards tbh
Absolutely. This time in my life I’m really only a part of the MTG community as long as it takes me to bling out a handful of decks I’m really only building for my family for family night of MTG. Once I complete them, I haven’t decided if I’ll pick up standard or some other competitive format. Or not, and I simply take a bow and leave the game. I do appreciate Wizards printing as much product as they do as they sometimes do hit on things I want. Most often what they do isn’t for me. I feel content in my restraint to only window shop all the things Wizards does.
There hasn’t been anymore secret lairs since summer drops did you guys won on telling them to stop those?
I'm sure that has less to do with various percent of their playbase not enjoying them in some way and more so that they haven't even shipped all of the ones that have been ordered so far. There's no point in putting more out when they are so far behind, albeit they should have learned that lesson a Secret Lair earlier.
Hopefully though they are gone, easily the most annoying product line they have outside of theme boosters.
I used to look forward to the next Secret Lair, to see if I wanted it. Most of them I simply ignored, but they did hit the sweet spot with me with Kaleidoscope Killers (bought) and the enemy Fetchlands (I’m nearly done getting all of them as singles), but Secret Lair was a nice way to get artwork of cards we never would have gotten. Everyone complained about the Shandalar Slivers, and I was among them, but I still want a Sliver Hive depicting them, and Secret Lair is possibly my only chance to get that. I never felt obligated I had to have any of them. No one needs to own all of them actually.
Sorry for necroing this thread, but have they put off distributing these judge promos due to the pandemic? This Surgical Extraction hasn’t become available for the secondary market, so I wonder how that forgoes for the Æther Vials. I know I’m going to buy two of these vials when they become available, I just don’t when I can expect them to be released yet. Does anybody know?
I can now 100% safely say the only singles I will try and track down are the showcase Academy Ruins, and the alternative art Chord Of Calling. I can maybe, maybe talk myself into a showcase copy of FOW. I do have decks I’m building taking up my time and money so the $200-$300 FOW is only a maybe.
The new design space I LOVED that OGW introduced was colorless mana now matters. MaRo has gone on record saying that to do more of that in future sets requires colorless mana resources set aside in the expansion design to make it work, but that’s always something I wish they explore more of, maybe in Zendikar Rising.
Well, well, well. I guess they did manage to snag me in. I’m going to track down at least one foil showcase Academy Ruins, maybe more. I already had my 4 foil Time Spiral Academy Ruins.

I seem to remember reading someplace they were considering putting them in Zendikar but they became Allies instead.
