i can tell you that when they do a big name like that it’s usually a legendary card being used as the person talking You can see this with a few flavor texts on cards
So yes it’s probably happening
I am already aware of this, thanks

Oct 27, 2020Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Tiro of Meletis »All original partners do indeed appear to be foil etched.
Well here's to hoping they look nice...
This was already well known, though? You’ve even acknowledged it in other threads?
Oct 20, 2020Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Mishotem »Yeah, they're putting etched foils in regular boosters. Problem is, there are over 100 etched foils, including the 32 bonus cards. Collector Boosters will each have an etched foil. Draft Boosters MIGHT have them. Odds are greatly against you pulling any in draft boosters, unless you buy a lot of them, and even greater odds of getting one of the 32.
This is not at all how they should be doing reprints.
Well then it sure is a good thing that people can simply buy the cards that they want off of some kind of secondary market instead of foolishly cracking hundreds of packs in the narrow hopes of opening those cards themselves, right? :) :)
My point is, you might not necessarily open the ones you want, but other people definitely will. And many of those will be put up for sale or trade, which will make them plentiful and readily available. As I stated before, people are going to open this set like crazy. It's going to be a unique drafting experience, which will incentivize a lot of Limited and EDH players to draft it more than normal, even with paper Magic seeing less play due to COVID. On top of that, lots of people love to open collector boosters and resell the contents that they don't want, which will add even more supply to the market.
Oct 20, 2020Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Tiro of Meletis »Well sis I didn't know. I don't understand why reprinting these cards needs to be this difficult. They add all these restrictions and then fail at delivering anything meaningful. "we can't reprint these outside of a commander product, and not just any commander product, but one re-introducing partner! Except this commander product, because only the mono color cards have partner! So good luck ever getting these!!!!"
My guy, these packs are going to get opened like crazy. You really think that these C16 partner reprints are going to be that prohibitively expensive?
You've devoted quite a few posts in this thread to complaining about the availability and distribution of these cards.
Although I suppose devotion is in keeping with your Theros-centric persona.
They even put etched foils into regular draft boosters, so I honestly don't know why you're complaining this much
Sep 29, 2020What I find laughable is that they said they recognized how warping Uro was, but they wanted to wait for rotation to let the metagame change and adapt to him.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
"Hey let's introduce this set full of landfall and other land-based interactions, I wonder how they'll adapt to Uro?"
"Gee, all of these decks are actually incorporating Uro, because it helps them survive the early game, draws them a card, gives them access to a recursive late-game threat, AND gives them extra land drops, which is what their deck cares about?"
"Who could have possibly predicted this?"
"-surprised pikachu face-"
Uro filled a unique role in the deck, and without him these ramp decks will be far less dominant. Uro provided both the acceleration and longevity needed for these decks to reach their late game, gave them a replacement card to work with, and sat in the graveyard to come back later in the game as a huge beater that generated insane amounts of value. Azusa won't be anywhere near Uro in terms of serving as a viable replacement, because she doesn't fill the same role. The deck will still be great, but it will definitely have more trouble surviving to the late game.
Sep 28, 2020Interesting that they use gendered pronouns for Michonne. I thought they only did that with planeswalkers?Posted in: The Rumor Mill
I guess it's to add to the immersion. It would read kinda weird to refer to Michonne as "it" in the card text.
Sep 25, 2020Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from seilaoque »well, yeah, good answers DO ruin formats.
make answers too good and then the format becomes a control fest and no one plays big threats anymore because they will pay 5 mana for their card just for it to be dealt with a 2 mana spell before they untap with it in play and net any value out of it.
awesome answers will warp the entire format around them, pretty much like Force of Will does with eternal formats.
in legacy over half of the competitive decks are running 4 FoWs, so unless you have pretty big reasons (or awesome ways to protect them) that puts every larger threat in check.....
having your 5 drop countered by a "free" FoW in legacy without netting any value out of it regularly means defeat because you pretty much will have lost both your biggest threat and an entire turn.
I highly disagree with this assessment. Do you believe that Legacy is a "ruined" format because a lot of decks run Force of Will? If anything, Force acts as a safety net that keeps the format in check. Legacy is a format where many threats don't take the form of beefy creatures; they take the form of a reanimation spell targeting Griselbrand, or a game-winning Doomsday pile, or a critical mass of spells that finish with a tutor or wish for Tendrils of Agony. If Force didn't exist, the format would most assuredly consist nearly entirely of turn 1 or 2 combo decks and meta-specific anti-combo decks.
Quote from seilaoque »that said.... I still think is a lot better to have awesome answers putting every big threat on check than letting threats run rampant because no one can answer them properly.
hell, at this day and age, a TON of matches are simply decided by the coin flip that decides who goes first.
a ton of decks wouldn´t have a proper answer that doesns't cost their entire turn for a turn 2 Lotus Cobra while on the draw, thus having no way to deal with said cobra before the dude on "play" untaps with it and does silly things.
well, I do think better answers are needed for standard if they're going to keep printing this absurd threat power level, but this have to be done carefully to put the threats in check and not simply make them unplayable because none of them will stay a single turn on the battlefield.
I do agree with all of this, though.
Sep 10, 2020Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from MostWorthlessUser »come on, how are you getting Valakut active while returning a land to your hand every turn?
On 7+ mana, can't you do anything better than try to connect with a 2/2?
This is aggro and nothing else.
it’s when we get to that point
And plus you already forgot Valakut is used in modern with Scapeshift
And why would Scapeshift decks run this card instead of a card that contributes to its primary gameplan, which is to put more lands into play?
Sep 9, 2020Yeah, I don't think it would have been that problematic to have this enter untapped.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
its a great land and all because it enters tapped your not putting it in tribal decks
VAST MAJORY OF LANDS IN CASUAL/BATTLECRUISER EDH DECKS COME IN TAPPED!
That doesn't make them good
Nor does it make taplands a good deckbuilding decision
You know what else you could put in tribal decks?
Almost any 5 color land that enters untapped
City of Brass
Cavern of Souls
There are tons of others

Nov 30, 2017foam_dome posted a message on If You Can't Take Criticism of Jeremy Hambly, You're Part of the Problem"someone (Jeremy) had the audacity to criticize someone (Christine)and Criticism is Not Harassment no matter how some people wish to construe it as such."Posted in: Articles
Jeremy went far beyond objective criticism and publicly persecuted Christine for nearly a year. He may not have personally hounded her with hateful private messages, but his actions directly resulted in months of direct online harassment from his fan base. You can't seriously look at all the crap Jeremy said and not call it harassment. When you hold that much influence over such a large congregation of people, you have a basic responsibility to not give them the idea that these sorts of heinous actions are socially acceptable. He could have easily criticized Christine without his plethora of disparaging personal remarks against her, and without encouraging thousands of his followers to constantly flame her. The fact that he did do these things, and unapologetically so, is what makes it harassment.
"The protests, mobs, riots all a sign that someone is incapable of accepting the opinion of others."
You mean accepting the opinion that bullying, harassing, and dehumanizing innocent human beings is okay? Yeah no, that sort of mentality has no place in our society, and entertaining that line of thinking will only hold us back as a species.
"someone who disagreed with the Nazi party during there rain ended up at best in a concentration camp at worst with a bullet in there head."
If you think the experience of a Nazi concentration camp is the best case scenario compared to a quick and painless death, then I can't even fathom how detached you are from reality. I encourage you to quantum-leap into the body of an emaciated Jewish concentration camp prisoner circa 1944 and ask yourself, "Is this better than not suffering at all?"
"but the moment you stop respecting the opinion of others and start attacking, harassing them, posting there personal info and calling for a public lynching joust because thy sad something you don't agree with, that is the point I stop respecting you, that is the point you have become a Nazi"
Is that not exactly what Jeremy did?
"people can not differentiate between Nazi and centre right"
Actually, as the years have progressed, our Overton Window has been shifting steadily to the right. Democratic socialism (a mild leftist ideology) has become regarded as far-left, and centrism has become regarded as center-left. On the other side, traditional conservatism has shifted to the center of America's political spectrum, with semi-fascist ideologies occupying the moderate- to far-right.
In other words, the more that neo-Nazi ideologies become normalized and accepted as a valid political platform, the closer the center right drifts toward Nazism.
I don't call right-thinkers Nazis. I call Nazis Nazis. I know a lot of Trump voters with opinions that I strongly disagree with, and I don't call them Nazis because they're not Nazis. They don't believe in things like a one-party government or ethnic cleansing or the removal of basic human rights (except maybe health care, but that's an entirely different can of worms), so I can't in good conscience call them Nazis.
Do I think Jeremy is a Nazi? Not at the moment, because he hasn't shown me any reason to think he's a Nazi. But I do think he's a scumbag with a startling lack of empathy for other humans, and that his career as a psychologically abusive and hate-mongering content creator should be completely and utterly destroyed.
