A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

Fair enough. I pondered signing up for a game recently because I thought I was going to have more free time. Then I started seeing how much homework I'm going to have in school during this term. Unfortunately I'm not an option for a player or spectator. I don't mind waiting for a while before getting in on the spectating though. =) And also I think that your reason for not popping a spectator thread right now is a good one. It did sound like some of the recent games that had a spectate thread had a little trouble finding enough replacements.

Is there going to be a spectate for this and if so can I get in on that action? =)

This game was a lot of fun to watch. I forgot about the bulletproof on the godfather and was like OMG, Shalako won the game for the town with his sheer I have the balls to vig someone ten posts into the game before tanarin reminded me about the bulletproofness. Then I thought the town was going to lose because I thought they were going to fall for the whole scum bulletproof/lets just cop the godfather thing. In the end that helped to nab two scum, but if the cop result came through I don't see how the town could have won at that point.

As far as the set up goes. I think that it would have gone a long way as mentioned by some others if the scum didn't have as many matched roles. To be fair though, getting a freebie with the mafia doctor (i.e. no town doctor)would have been overpowered with a bulletproof godfather on the scum team.

On the whole post count thing, I do believe that it hurts the game when people don't post once a day, but understand why mods choose a 2/3 day per post limit as life does get in the way sometimes. It also hurts the game when people spam as it is difficult to pay attention to anything in the game other then what the spammers are talking about.

On a whole I feel like the game was played pretty well by both sides. There were also a couple of points in the game on both sides where I was sitting there going "Oh no, why is X doing that? That's terrible.".

I do hope that everyone playing the game had as much fun as I did watching it (a lot). =)

Due to school I had to lower my mafia count down to spectating games (Boo! lol). Between my school and the decision to move the mini queue over to the basic queue style (totally support this idea btw, I think its great) I haven't had time to finish the flavor for my set up. I was curious about how the push back system works because I didn't see details on that on the front page. My apologies, but I would really like to put some fun flavor into this game.

I like how being dead works. I look forward to no one dying until like N6 and then 5 people dying at the same time.

Also, I'm assuming that if your lynched that you are dead in all possible games and that we aren't assuming this is just one game that is being played in one of the possible universes. I.e. This is the 'real' universe/game. Or am I just getting silly now with the rules possibilities? Because being 10% lynched is a can of worms that I'm not sure anyone would like to open even though it would be hilarious (that game would take forever). =p

Since I knew the set up to the game a lot of the play was really easy to see. I do think that a couple of the scum posts should have set off alarm bells in peoples heads. I can't remember what they are specifically right now, but I did mention a couple of posts in particular in the spectator thread. I think that this game was heavily unbalanced, but if the town was on it's A game it was winnable as I feel like the tells were there.

There are some things that I think would have made the game a lot more balanced in particular. Yanni's role was unbalanced, but that could have been balanced out with strong town roles if he didn't have the mana drain ability. Also I feel like the day shouldn't have ended with the execution ability when a scum was controlling it. It would have given the second lynch in a similar manner as using a town dayvig does.

That being said, I loved this game for it's flavor. And for the matching of its flavor to the roles. I felt like this was totally awesome for that and I would actually love to see another starcraft game at any time. =)

I'm interested in spectating as well. Sounds like this game is going to be pretty sweet. =)

This was a super fun game to read guys. I would like to congratulate everyone that played as I feel that everyone did a good job this game. I would also like to second the idea that this is one of the games that would be good for people that are new to the game to read. Also, over the last couple of games I've played/read I've noticed that I like it when the town wins. I still prefer to win when I'm scum, but it definitely feels a little evil winning as scum.

I'll join in on the fun just for kicks.

Falkonn: I work part time at a biotech firm in Maryland. In an attempt to find a job that 1. didn't suck. 2. paid well enough so that I could support my family without us pinching pennies. 3. I could make my own hours. and 4. didn't make my ethics hurt, I decided to go back to school to get a master's degree in acupuncture. Due to this I no longer have time to play mafia games, but still enjoy coming here to read them. I have two five year old girls that are both amazing and time intensive (they are both autistic).

My consolation prize for being awesome: My wife. She's a short (5"1') curly haired Italian brunette with ridonkulous curves (I like curves). She's the best cook I know, so I'm spoiled rotten in that department. She's also intelligent and professionally successful. In high school she was both a national champion cheerleader and catholic schoolgirl who was living in hawaii at the time.

As far as mafia goes I feel like I was getting decent at it before I had to go on hiatus. I tend to try to win games simply by making myself difficult to lynch. I figure that if everyone on my team plays that way we are going to win. I did win my last four games, three of them as mafia. Before that I only had 1 win out of 4, and I pretty much did everything I could to mess up that game :-/.

    Memorable mafia moments:
-Loved Seppel's Captain hammer false claim infinitely.
-Screwing the pooch by claiming complete untargetability (I was the invisible man and could be targeted by kill shots in Heroes mafia), then being killed N1 and having my untargetability stolen by AI who was Sylar the SK. AI was nice enough to side with the town instead of the mafia in the end game and he won with the town.
-Creating a huge mess in Gabriel High School mafia by trying a lurky playstyle and getting pinched for it. Then refusing to claim D2 saying my dossier trade would clear me. Almost getting lynched D3 before giving in and full claiming town immortal. My reads were off that game since I was playing defense the whole time, but thanks to good play by AI and LP the town cleaned up.
-Final Fantasy mafia- the whole thing as the set up was incredible imo.
-Hopefully someday I'll have stories that are both good and include me not doing something dumb. =\

If you do a spectate forum I'd like to be in it. =) Enjoyed the series quite a bit, although I haven't read anything that's come out in roughly the last 5 years from him so I don't know if he's written any more in that universe recently.

Had some time today to check things out again here, and I find out your doing TLA? Super fun series! I hope everyone in the game has a blast. Master's is going well so far, but it does keep me super busy. =)

Can I be added to the spectator forum please? I have time to look at the game every once in a while and that would be awesome. =)

I have super mixed feelings about the way that this game played out. I can honestly say that if Zinda had posted his real reads that I don't think there was a way that we could have won.

I am not happy with the way that I played this game. I did have one post that I was particularly proud of, but it did nothing to make my overall play actually good. My life has been crazy recently and it really showed. I am planning on not playing any more mafia games until I can give it a lot more of my attention then this game.

Two notes: 1) I killed Zinda because killing anyone else severely limited my ability to win the game. Zinda was the only person that was considered confirmed town. I believed the kill would go through (and I hoped it did), but even if it didn't I was hoping to just get one more mislynch. I still would have won the game if I could have convinced the town to lynch DReY/Tanarin since I could nk the other and it would just be me and zinda (the scum win con was simply to be able to control the lynch. I'm assuming that 1v1 is "controlling" here).

    2) Arcadic: You could have gotten away with the whole "I didn't realize I was a compulsive vig" if you would have killed basically anyone other then zinda that night.

I think tanarin is done talking.

Drey: I thought about trying to get you to vote for tanarin so I could vote for him, but to be honest keeping the charade up at this point just seems silly/mean.

    Vote: Drey

I agree with you. I don't see how my theory on tanarin springing a trap on me during claims could be wrong at this point. It also explains the way he's been acting over the last couple of game days.
