why can't we run halimar depths?

Idk about you but i run like 4 islands... a large amount of the rest of my land base is cipt.

I have been play testing this version.
Its weird... you need to draw real well... and i think i can't shuffle (cards are always grouped).

Sea Gate Oracle is the nuts, it blocks and lets you dig threw bad draws!
Quicksand is also the nuts! if you didnt need Tectonic Edge for manlands i would up the number of Quicksands.

Jund can't jump leech BBE dies the turn it attacks.

ya, i really start to believe T.H isn't the card for this deck.
Since we can't run Halimar Depths we can't combo.

And for anyone that wants to run Mnemonic Wall i suggest Surreal Memoir.

Sure Mnemonic Wall can get back a Cruel... but really if im getting Cruel back the game has gone to long.

So Surreal Memoir will always get you back a creature kill and/or a counter.

It replaces itself as soon as you cast it, and on your next turn it will put another card into your hand!

At 3R Its not that hard to cast.

While it does allow a heavier black version, I am not sure this "fix" is any better than simply running some savage lands and arcane sanctum. The tri-lands slow you the turn it comes into play. A forest being turned into a swamp with an edge is slowing you everytime you turn it into a swamp.

1G being "filtered" into B is an inefficient filtering mechanism.

I really don't think that savage lands, and sanctum are that bad as 1 ofs. Wouldn't use more than 1 of each, and if I used them I wouldn't use terramorphic. But in doing this you hurt the synergy of core cards in the deck namely Knight of the Reliquary and Lotus Cobra.

    See thats where your wrong.
We aren't using this to mana fix us casting a spell, it accully helps the Knight of the Reliquary.
As you most sacrifice a Forest or Plains to Knight of the Reliquary you need to run a little higher on both of thoughs types.
With Unstable Frontier all your swamps can now be sacrificed to search.

"It can protect itself vs Tectonic Edge by turning itself into a basic."

This does not work. Unstable does not make the land basic, it only grants it types.

Blah your right... atlest you could turn it into a forest to sac... or is that to much?

Unstable Frontier allows for a every land you play to be a Forest or Plains which you can sac with KoTR.

It can protect itself vs Tectonic Edge by turning itself into a basic.
    You can KoTR it up.
This would allow for a heavier black version of Junk since you can turn swamps into forests/plains.
At worst it can make a colourless mana.

Well without counting Scalding Tarns as either Red/Blue and counting only the mana each land CAN produce.

    I have:
    17 Black Sources
    13 Blue Sources
    12 Red Sources

The reason I went and lowered the number of basic Swamps is because every single Dual/Tri Land produces black. I went higher on the MT and Islands because I MB 4 Double Negatives, with this mana list, I can consistently cast Double Negatives without many color problems.

I think those numbers should be sufficient, in my Pre-RoE build this mana list was running just fine, so I don't know that the mana list needs tweeking all that much.

Cool, well let us know how it works out.

RK_Wren also makes a good point, Jace is a strong card and will always hold a 30$+ value (Well thats what im hoping at lest).
And i was wrong Jace will be around for a good 2 years?
And come rotation i will share my sick U/B deck -_^

Ya, i pretty much said F this and i got myself a play set.
I figure, his going to be around for a whole year, and should see (is seeing) play in extended.
Hopefully with the rumor of superextended he will see even more play there!

I accully have a suggestion about your mana base.

I think you might be running to many Mountains and to little Swamp/Island.

Swamps enable both Dragon skull and Drowned Catacombs so they are a lot more help then a mountain.
I find that this deck has way to many CiPT lands, i might drop the lavaclaw (it never preformed as i wanted it to... ) and a Crumbling Necropolis and up the basic and a Scalding Tarn.

I believe my land was something like

with 1 land i can't remember what it is... My deck list book is in the car and im at work.

@MrRotten, Do you have access to the old jace? My friend runs it in his OtVs deck, and it really wrecks U/W control since they can't really drop there jace, and turn 2 they usally try to Chalice.
He doesn't allow as much card draw as the new one but its still card advantage.

Maybe add a Jitte, Your tokens can hold it to start building up counters to give stuff -1/-1.

IF you start to get really low on life you can get some life back.

You can pump your death's Shadow when you swing.

His decklist is interesting, i would cut the Mnemonic Walls, if i wanted draw back form graveyard id roll sureal memoir, because most of the instants i use are remove or counters so id be happy to get em back, and i like the abyssal persecutor sideboard idea, since it is really sexy on it's own.

He makes good point's, 4 vapors might be too much tho, because turn 4 is a long long long way

Its just the same game U/W Control plays with BSA in the sideboard :p

As for the Vapors i have just upped my total to 4.

I know the deck list is really thight but what are peoples insight on Everflowing Chalice?

It can help get a turn 3 Vapor/Jace.

I can help leave our duels open for Terminate and Double Negative.

Sorin: Is he really MB necessary? Or is he really meta dependent? Because like I said, my old version had zero walkers, and it was pretty solid. Sorin is great, but maybe only with the right meta??

Sorin is a GOD send vs decks that gain life.
You set there life to 10 and go Cruel, attack with a man land.

This sounds like a different build than the lists I'm accustomed to working with. For the builds I've seen, the upper end creatures such as Baneslayer and Double Dragon aren't a huge threat(although Dragon can be annoying as balls).
His synergy with Jace is interesting, but Liliana had a similar synergy with the original Jace(tutor, then draw your tutored card), but that synergy wasn't strong enough for them to find their way into the popular control decks of their time(Fae and 5CC at first, U/B and Grixis more recently). I generally try to avoid brainstorming with Jace unless my hand is the utmost bad, because building him to his win ability fast is a primary way for our deck to win.
An interesting card, Sarkhan. But one that I ultimatly feel doesn't fit into Grixis control as it exists now. Perhaps there is a list out there that can maximize this synergy to its full potential, but the lists that I have seen recently simply have little room to work with Sarkhan.

You make some really good points.
    Thanks.

One would assume their 5/5 dragon. However, Sarkhan costs 5, so you are doing this trick T6 at the earlist. Has this deck that is playing mana dorks really played nothing more threatening?

Probably playing scarier things clearly... ok so with Consoming vapors not so good, but you can get thier BSA with a Consome the meek or thier double dragon (both).

He makes smother/Consome the Meek 100% better as you can turn any creature with cmc 4 or more into a token and use one of these kill spells.

After how it just changed the whole game for me i think Sarkhan the Mad is under-rated and could find a way in this deck.

His a Bob for 5, but instead of losing life he takes dmg, which you can negate with Jace.
