As some may know I recently lost all my data (including 1.5 weeks worth of footage) so all those DEs I ran with HK (4 of them 3-1, 4-0x3 are gone) and my Modern games (it maybe a hidden blessing since I just ran the same list in every MU).
Anyhow since these next three weeks are rather busy I'll be only running 8-Mans with standard whenever I have time.
Here is the first set running a slightly edited version of William Yowell list

I didn't run the list for long since I really dislike Eidolon of the Great Revel in this metagame and not running Shock just feels so very wrong.

The cards which I count as flex are:
4 Firedrinker Satyr
1 Wear // Tear
The deck itself is just being greedy via Scry, with the Dancer + Blood plan in the SB for the annoying G and U heavy online metagame.

Metagame shifted back into small aggro so I shifted my SB back into spells (so I don't get blown out via Drown or maybe Anger) - I picked Temple of Malice over Mutavault because the draws can get rather awkward postboard when I take on the control role so knowing my options really helps (also provide protection from PE :D).

Small update
1) Currently ranked No.13 in the player of the year race (yaaay ) I believe my ceiling would be rank no.5 though I'll most likely drop back down toward top30 again once things pickup :p.
2) I built a more tradition burn deck (23 lands and no dancer) which will be used in next weeks videos - the first set may be a nice watch for some because G1 was Jund Walker and G2 was Planar Cleansing UW control

I understand card advantage, you just said this wasnt card draw, not card advantage.
Now if you said, Thought Scour isnt card advantage here are my reasons.... then I wouldnt have misunderstood your post.
Anyways, I do agree with you about the lack of standard good spells to refill hands. We probably wont get anything amazing till Theros (not holding my breath for M14).
I think Jace, Architect of Thought may have a place in the deck.

Anyways I just finished FNM and went 3-1 with this build....
3 Deathrite Shaman
4 Vampire Nighthawk
4 Deadbridge Goliath
4 Thragtusk
Spells
3 Tragic Slip
3 Abrupt Decay
3 Golgari Charm
2 Ultimate Price
2 Sever the Bloodline
3 Vraska the Unseen
3 Garruk Relentless
1 Garruk, Primal Hunter
1 Liliana of the Veil
Lands
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Woodland Cemetery
8 Swamp
5 Forest
2 Evolving Wild
1 Rogue's Passage
4 Appetite for Brains
3 Mutilate
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Pithing Needle
1 Abrupt Decay
1 Sever the Bloodline
1 Ground Seal
1 Witchbane Orb
Side board was kind of thrown together last minute. The Planeswalker ratio is what I have in my collection. Garruk Relentless was a star and so was Vraska. Never really played Liliana or GPH.
Deadbridge Goliath- STAR PLAYER. Nobody see's this guy coming turn 4 followed by Thragtusk turn 5.
Golgari Charm- Mini Star PLAYER
**Fair warning Im REALLY terrible at sideboarding and I honestly dont remember what I switched out for during the games other than the obvious choices.
Matchups
Round 1- B/U Zombies
Game 1
This deck is still alive!? Anyways, game one was pretty smooth. Turns 1-3 was me killing zombies and blood artists. Turn 4 dropped a Garruk Relentless flipped him and took over with the deathtouch wolf tokens and searching for threats.
Game 2
Same thing, was able to play Vraska but at that point it was a win more. Rode Garruk and Deadbridge Goliath + Rogue's Passage all the way home.
Round 2- 4 color Junk/Good stuff Control????
Game 1
This game went a little longer than expected. He turn 3 played Dread Mangler and got his beats in for about 3 turns. I Severed it so he wasnt able to scavenge and followed with a Thragtusk, stabilized, then played Garruk. Game ended a couple of turns after that.
Game 2
He never got a real good start he evolving wild twice. I on the other hand T1-Shaman, T2- nothing, T3- Ate a E-wild from Shaman to cast Goliath, then T4- Shaman ate wild and I played Thragtusk. He couldnt recover with 10 Power on the board.
Round 3- U/W Control
Game 1
This game went pretty quick I started to lay down threats in the form of Vampire Nighthawk followed by a Garruk making wolf tokens. He Detention Sphere Garruk. I played Vraska next turn. I was able to pop her two turns later and he scooped the next turn.
Game 2
This game was a little longer than the first game. Turn 1 Shaman, really put a monkey wrench in his life. Every threat I tried to play he counter and Shaman ate it. We did this for about 3-5 turns till I played Vraska and upped her in two turns being able to pop her for the kill tokens. He thought he had the trump card with Supreme Verdict and I said no with Golgari Charm. He scooped accordingly.
Round 4- U/W Heavy Control
Game 1
I was trying to lay threats down through the whole game. He dissipates, Essence Scatters, and syncopates a lot of creatures. If I managed to stick a creature he would unsummon it or Azorious charm it. I did manage to sneak in a Deathrite Shaman getting him down to single digits but Runechanter's Pike with Restoration Angel was too much. Didnt see a single sever or ultimate price.
Game 2
See above.
So that was it. Like i mentioned before I have a hard time Sideboarding in, but its not rocket science. If I needed more control I would side in AoB if against creatures, then the creature kill cards.
