I definitely think the format needs better tron hate. If it werent for the fact that GR tron gets turn 3 karn somewhat regularly, tec edge would be sufficient, but the fact that it doesn't stop the inevitable turn 3 karn is what kills things.
If the format were just blue or blue-white tron, more tron hate wouldn't be necessary, but with the way things are right now, GR tron pushes many decks out of the format, and forces decks to play an abnormal volume of hate for it in order to beat it, despite it not representing a large part of the metagame.
In other words, it's a format warping strategy, and forces any deck that isn't all-in aggro or combo to be able to play maindeck land destruction that can somehow come on before turn 3, or lose to it.
Pick one as Tectonic Edge is useless against tron for the most part, your best best is GQ as rg tron only uses a couple basics, RG tron is imo akin to a combo deck and u/uw tron are control decks.
Don't forget there is also the moon effects, Trick bind to "stifle" the land, Molten Rain , stone rain, Acidic Slime(was used in pod decks for a while how it fell out of favor is beyond me).
Okay, I don't play black much, but I would if they printed this:
Lethal Entrance - BBX
Instant
As an additional cost to cast ~, discard a card.
Search your library or graveyard for a black instant or sorcery card with converted mana cost X and cast it as an instant without paying it's mana cost, than exile that card.
Too strong?
No, I think t2 would use it but storm would love it.
They don't know what you're going to name the first time you cast the spell. You name a card on resolution, not casting. So Force of Will is actually a weak defense against Cabal Therapy. But like I said, it does require some knowledge of Legacy decklists. I stand by my assertion that Cabal Therapy is good going into an unknown metagame because of its versatility. It's just not good if you're going in without decklist knowledge. An unknown decklist and unknown metagame are two different things.
I'm a little out of it right now what do you mean by cast on resElution?
Cabal Therapy. A great hate card and perfectly suited to abuse in Affinity where you can cast it twice on turn 1 if you have to. Flashback makes it a great way to get fight through both counterspells and discard. It hates on more archetypes than Mindbreak Trap can. It requires some knowledge of the metagame and your opponent's deck, but it's a very solid card.
I dont like CT as you have to know what they have to make it any worth while(otherwise Im asking for fow every time.), so whats a good sideboard for an unknown meta?
I am working towards joes ravager affinity list as I like that list compared to many others ive seen.
Top to bottom
I am looking for more Colonnade, conclave is a casual sub.
Going to drop seacrome and 2 basics for tech edge.
I love blade splicer, it works well with titan.
Might drop delver for more counter magic like spell snare.
I love caw, best creature wotc made and will usually be the one I ride to victory, and I can fetch up chumps if I want and I get them back with titan.
I need a 3rd SCM
I guess I could update doj to SVerdict.
My choice of tide over terminus is this Im not losing out on reusing my creatures that are in the grave, if I terminus the board then I cant get my GY fun back with titan which I think I want 3 of.
Brainstorm is going to be serum visions or some other 1u draw spell. Whispers of the Muse sounds fun.
Dissipate is imo the best counter for modern, yeah its not counterspell but the ability to exile it is the best thing to have in a format like modern.
Into the roil is a left over from t2 and is very useful, wish I could target man lands though.
leak is good but I think I want to make it a 2/1 split with spell pierce/leak, I would rather have 1cmc counter spells to stall out as many in this format tend to tap out and many don't try to play around counter magic.
SoWaP is supposed to be a FaF but can close out the game quicker but FaF can help with leaving out crucial counter magic mid/late game.
Gideon goes with the plan for doj/SV like man lands, chump till I can wrath then walk along with animated creatures.
I want more than 2 jace in this format, the card draw from him is great and works well with titan.
I dont like the whole flash uw builds as I would rather wrath when they flash in a bunch of dudes just to see there effort get flushed down the toilet.
I dont like Criptic command, 4 mana counterspell is not viable imo, this format is to fast for CC to work right without something like chrome mox or the situational DRS that dies to every removal in the format.
Remember that these cards need to be t2 unbroken inorder for them to see the light of day, a sol land in t2 would be the busted and a new 50$ card before its released.
Against a red deck, I figure once their threats are gone and they've spit their hands, I can counter whatever they have left. In the Pod matchup, I held Path the whole game in order to combat the combo.
Snap lets you re-use Path, so it feels like you have more copies. Cryptic can tap/bounce, too. I could try Vapor Snag, but I'm not sure I'd be any better off. And paying four life for Dismember is a no go for me.
I would rather use unsummon in case I need to bounce my own creature and not lose life off it as 1 pint is usually a joke to the opp.
We(those with talismans) have a black mana source, so what as a 1 or 2 of can we use MB that could help us with g1 for aggro that wont hurt our combo and control match-ups.
Has that been talked about? I haven't seen it here. I've been doing that lately, but I switched to a more Rock orientated build, adding in Goyfs to help out with pressure. Running 3 Mox with 4 DRS.
I understand its card disadvantage but imo a t1 hymn or what have you is more powerfull than t1 DRS pass.

Spreading Algae
Boom // Bust (Boom)
Pooling Venom
Fulminator Mage
Goblin Ruinblaster
Rain of Tears
All viable options but just cause a pro is not using it its all "oh knows we needs tron hates".
So much for modern being the brew format.
No, I think t2 would use it but storm would love it.
Only thing i want is enough reprints to make every card no more than 5$.

This is an old t2 deck turned into a casual deck that I want to turn into a modern deck. My ideas are in the spoiler to limit clogging.

To which I will say those are few and far between t2 gets the shaft and the rest of the formats suffer.
Modern is on the rise cause t2 has crappy cardpools and even then when someones idea of fun gets banned and then we play t2 with a larger cardpool.
I'm excited and dissapointed at the sealed event comming up cause I know the majority of the cardpool will suck.
I think the prices are a little bit ridiculous it's almost as expensive as standard and that's saying a lot.
I love how 35 cent commons are now 10$
I understand its card disadvantage but imo a t1 hymn or what have you is more powerfull than t1 DRS pass.
